Comfortable private bedroom with twin (single) bed, and shared bath with shower. This room is best suited to a solo traveller.
Welcome to our home! We live on a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom floating home and are lucky enough to be able to offer occasional space to travelers.
We are a child-friendly household with (mostly well-behaved) children ranging from toddler to teen, so it's best if you don't mind kids and the various noises they make. Your room is quite quiet though, and we will try to minimize the toddler drumming while you're sleeping! Since we are living here with our kids, please take the time to introduce yourself when requesting a booking, as I will only rent to travelers I feel good about inviting into our home.
This room has a comfortable twin-sized bed and an armchair with reading light. I've priced it to be reasonable for a single traveller, and it is definitely most comfortable for one person. If you really want to add a second person, I can set up a portable bed, but it will get very cramped.
When you're staying here you can relax on our patio, take a row in our dinghy and explore the famous houseboat docks. You can walk to a variety of restaurants and there is a nearby grocery store.
You are welcome to use our washing machine/dryer and/or prepare yourself a meal in our kitchen. In the evening we are often watching tv or playing a game and you are always welcome to join in. The other bedrooms are privately occupied, but otherwise the home is open for you to share.
We live here with our children, so you will be in the mix with our family. We are happy to leave you to yourself if you would prefer privacy in your room, or you are welcome to join us in the evening to have a drink or watch a tv show.
We will provide a light breakfast of porridge, yogurt, toast, cereal, coffee, tea, and the like. As well, there is a cafe a short walk away that cooks excellent bacon and eggs for just $5. If you have special breakfast requests and let me know in advance, I can do my best to accommodate them.
The Sausalito floating home community is really unique and beautiful. We love that we have a world-class bike/running trail right at the top of our dock, that decent food is a short walk away and really excellent food is not much further. I love seeing the water when the tide is high and the variety of feeding birds when the tide is out. Before I moved here, I didn't realize that even the mud at low tide could be beautiful, but it really is like living in a nature sanctuary.
The peacefulness of nature is balanced by the proximity of the highway - if you are on the back deck and look in one direction, you wouldn't think a car existed in the world. Look the other way and see the activity of a winding road.
While you're here you should walk the docks to see all the variety of the floating homes. You should check out downtown Sausalito - just a short drive or a long walk away. You could go for a run or bike ride, and you should definitely take the world-class ferry-ride across San Francisco Bay to the city. If you feel like driving north, wine country is less than an hour away. Many people travel here specifically to see the redwood forests at Muir Woods. And the beaches offer great sunning and boogie boarding in summer.
There is public transportation a short walk from our house, and I'm happy to help with sorting out the bus system. We are also less than a mile from the SFO Airporter shuttle drop-off. It's definitely easiest to get around with a car, but with a little determination and research, public transit can work quite well also.
There is free parking for our dock.
• This is a floating home, and you need to be able to traverse a dock, gangplank and stairs to get back and forth.
We love our unique houseboat lifestyle, and are excited to share it with travelers. If you're a tourist, we're happy to help you find the best way for you to discover the area. If you're here on business, we have fast wireless internet, iron, blow-dryer - probably whatever you need to keep yourself professional.
Thank you Genia and Christine, I had a lovely stay, and am impressed by they so quickly let me and others into their home and family. I appreciate how expansive they are in their ability and willingness to open your hearts and homes to others. Thank you.
Wonderful family and great place to stay. They were very welcoming, the location was great and although I had to run before breakfast, it looked lovely.
I was able to get an amazing run right from the front of their house, so if you like being out and about you should def. stay here.
Loved my stay!!! Genia,Christine and their family are wonderful host! They are very welcoming and make you feel home. The place is very original, quite, peaceful and the view is amazing. Stqying on a house boat is a unique experience. If visiting SF, it is very close to the city (by car or by ferry). It is also very close to Muir woods, if you like to have a walk. The room is very comfortable and breakfast is generous and delicious! You can even get your coffee, tea or hot choc in your room if you want! Genia and Christine houseboat is the ideal place for a relaxing stay when visiting SF area. If I ever go back to SF I will for sure stay with them again. I highly recommend a stay at Genia and Christine.
Just perfect! Busy house, full of positive energy, love, creativity and vibrant life. It was my delight to be a part of Genia & Chris life for that short while. I was treated like a family member. I would happily go back and stay much longer next time. Highly recommended to anyone that is looking for unique stay in SF hosted by one of a kind great family.
My girlfriend and I decided to visit the wine country during a recent trip in October. My friend Mariah recommended Genia and Christin's houseboat, which she stayed recently with her mother during America's Cup. We stayed 2 nights and loved every minute of their company. They were wonderful hosts, making sure we had everything and all our needs met and were overall just wonderful to be around. It was hard to leave their company. I hope to visit them soon because I think we have made new friends, thank you Genia and Christine :)
I really enjoyed my stay with Genia and Christine! They were fabulous hosts and even with a full household, it was peaceful outing and I got a great night sleep! Of all the options available to me for a room in Sausalito, I can't believe there could be any other option that could have surpassed my experience with them. I highly recommend their beautiful home setting and I especially enjoyed sitting with everyone on the patio for some late night (email hidden)ank you Genia and Christine and I hope to stay with you again soon!
What a great experience staying on a Sausalito houseboat! Christine and Genia are so friendly, I felt at home the minute I arrived there. The houseboat was clean, beautiful and spacious. Breakfast delicious! The location so convenient. I especially enjoyed waking up in the morning and seeing the variety of sea birds just off the deck. This was my first time on a houseboat and I would love to go back anytime.
My mom and I stayed at this lovely houseboat B&B for two nights. Christine and Genia are sweet and welcoming people, and they have a couple of wonderful kids too. Their lively houseboat is roomy and comfy.
The 2nd story deck is a peaceful place to enjoy your wine in the evening or you're breakfast in the morning. We saw a variety of birds every morning, and it was so refreshing to wake up to the smell of the salty ocean.
Their whole dock has an eclectic group of unique houseboats, many of which have little gardens, yard art, and stained glass. It's a beautiful, quiet spot in Sausalito and a great getaway from the city life.
I had a wonderful stay on Genia and Christine's house boat. They were fabulous hosts and made me feel so welcome and at home. The boat was clean, warm comfortable and homely. Breakfast catered for my dietary needs, which was amazing. Easy to park, close to Sausalito and just a short ride over the bridge from San Fran....perfect! x
Christine and Genia are super hosts!.Absolutely informal environment and unforgotten positive energy! Main preference for them - surround you comfort and positive emotions. From the first second in their house I felt like at home, where all family members love each other and others people too)))
They offered very clean, tidy and comfortable accommodation, but also many other things - invitation to share their meals, washing of my cloths, bike, many advices and very interesting talks. Christine is charming woman! She like everyone, Genia is very fun guy, both - great couple. Youngest guy, Goga, 1.5 years old, is very smart and smiley baby. I enjoyed playing with him so much )
Location is great, Sausalito very nice city, easy reach SF downtown by bus. And, of course, their boathouses - it is something amazing!! It is street going into water! Very beautiful wooden street, many pot flowers, and very friendly neighbors.
During 2 days every minute I enjoyed staying where, and when time to say good-bye to Christine came I felt tears in my eyes, like when you say good-bye someone who you love a lot. Would be happy to return in this amazing family!
THANKS YOU! It was the best staying in my life!
All the best for this great family!
