The Space

The Room: This is my personal bedroom that I occasionally rent out when I am out of town. It's the master bedroom and has a organic wool queen sized futon mattress. The room is very large and has a private bathroom with shower, Jacuzzi tub, separate room for the toilet, and Jack and Jill sinks. The room also has direct access to a huge private patio with an awesome view of Golden Gate Heights. Walk in closet as well.

The house: The house is only 5 years old and very large (especially for SF), 2 stories with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, large kitchen, living room, and dining room. You are welcome to use the kitchen, just clean up after yourself! There is also a fire pit in the backyard and 4 different decks throughout the house for getting some rays or taking in great views of the park and the bay. There is a washer and dryer in the unit which you are also welcome to use.

The neighborhood: The neighborhood is very active with tons of (mostly asian) restaurants within walking distance. It's also very quit at night and safe; one block away from Golden Gate park.

Parking and Transportation
You definitely don't need a car to get around the city but in case you have one street parking is free and relatively easy to find, I can usually find a spot within 1 block. We're near tons of public transportation and it's super easy to get around. 1/2 block from N train for downtown/beach and the 28 going North and South. Also easy access to 71, 16, and 29. From the airport it takes about 70 minutes via train ($10) and 25 minutes via taxi ($40). If you book a taxi with Wingz it only cost $35.

There are three roommates, all in our mid twenties and we're super friendly. We all met in Japan (two of us were living there and 1 is from there) and enjoy surfing and hiking on the weekends but keep it pretty mellow during the week.

The Neighborhood

Vibrant Chinatown neighborhood (1 of 3 in SF) with lots of grocery and dining options.

Getting around

Tons of public transportation options for getting around the city (N line goes directly downtown). Also lots of dining options within walking distance,.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Nick and his room mates were very polite, kind, and welcoming hosts. The room was very nice as well, enjoyed stepping out onto the porch to check or the view! There were a few other guests staying in the other rooms and all seemed very pleasant. We would consider staying here a second time if we find ourselves in the area!

  • Nick answered very quick on my request. And I was hosted by his roommate Ben already in couple hours.
The location and the building itself is very good. Walking distance to Golden Gate park. The house is new; the room is clean and big enough with a private bathroom and patio. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in SF!

  • Excellent room and beautiful apartment. Having a private bathroom was an amazing luxury! Ben (Nick's roommate) was a great host and gave me some tips about the area. Would definitely stay again!

  • Good location. Plenty to do in immediate area. Close to the park.
Bit disappointed that the tv that's featured in the room does not work. We only found out after check-in. Should have the ability to watch in room after the end of a long day trekking around if that's a desire. We were told after finding this out that we could watch the tv in the living room. That's fine if it's available but a bit awkward and unpractical when residents are having a get together and watching a game. Not a deal-breaker but irritating.Wireless works fine. Reception and check-in went smooth. Couldn't get Jacuzzi tub to work. Should be pretty straightforward. To be fair, I didn't contact anyone about the tub issue but then again it shouldn't be that difficult to run. Great neighborhood. Initially had to park far but then moved the car nearby after a couple of hours.

  • We were running late to a scheduled party but needed to drop off our things and park. Nick's roommate who checked us in was very understanding and got us situated quickly. Location is super. Found street parking easily.
My husband thought the bed was too hard but it was just right for me. Would definitively stay here again.

  • Nick's place was great and exactly as pictured. Even though Nick was out of town, his roommate responded to my request promptly and we were able to book this room on less than 24 hours notice. I would absolutely stay here again.

  • This is a clean and spacious room on the top floor of a beautifully done modern house, within walking distance to the N Judah Muni as well as several excellent restaurants on Irving. The bathroom is very modern and quite comfortable in every regard. The room and the bathroom afford you privacy from the rest of the house, which I greatly appreciated. Enjoy a cup of coffee on your personal deck in the morning while you contemplate your day. Ben and his girlfriend were incredible hosts, very friendly and accommodating in every regard. I was sad to leave!
