The Space

110 square meter flat in Barcelona's old town. 25 square meter living room, three bedrooms, one en suite (queen size bed), a double and a single. Two bathrooms with shower and tub. Small courtyard. Piano.
Flat in a 150+ year old building, with high beam ceilings, Catalan vault style. Original hardwood.

Since it is our home, the floor is decorated with much love and many details that make it a lovely and comfortable space that invites you to stay. Wifi, TV, DVD, movies, board games, books, heating, full kitchenware, hairdryer. Crib (must be requested).

Location: At the heart of the Gothic, Carabassa street corner, 300 meters from Las Ramblas and Plaza Real. 1 mile from Plaza Catalunya and 18 min walk from the beach of Barceloneta. Two hundred yards Avinyo Street with its designer shops, restaurants and bars. Children's Square at the corner.
Transportation: Very well connected with metro, 7 minutes away from both green line, Liceu station, and yellow-line Jaume I station.

  • Amparo's flat is just as described - wonderful location, beautiful flat and very clean. There are so many wonderful restaurants, cafés, shops and local squares in the area. Amparo was a great host and helped us with everything we needed. As previously mentioned in reviews, the front bedroom is quite noisy. We would definitely stay there again when in Barcelona.

  • The apartment is beautiful, comfortable and well maintained. It’s in a very old building and has lots of light and space. It was really great having the piano and washing machine. The hallway and stairs leading up to the apartment can be a little of-putting because they are a bit dingy - but the apartment is the exact opposite: well maintained, clean and beautiful.

You are in a neighborhood, so you can hear some street sounds throughout the day and into the night.

Amparo was very helpful, responsive and accommodating. If you are coming by car or taxi, be sure to carefully follow her instructions about how to navigate the roads of the Barri Gotic.

  • Stayed in Amparo's flat in Barrio Gotic for 3 nights in June, and have only positive things to say!

Location: Great, it's just where it should be in the old town. Below Placa Reial, and close to the sea (2 minutes walk and you are in the marina). Also close to lots of nice bars and restaurants, and close to Borne which really has blossomed the recent years. If you must, Placa Reial and Las Ramblas is few minutes away walking.

The flat: Spacious, clean, personal touch. Bedroom to the street not recommended for light sleepers. Too interior bedrooms quiet at night. But lots of noise from the neighbours during the day. But what you expect? Its in the middle of Barcelona!

The host Amparo: Friendly and honest. We were originally going to be 4 people, men 2 had to cancel last minute. And she gave me back cash in the hand, so I did not need to pay for them.

    Would stay there again!

  • Beautiful flat, super clean and charming, Amparo is a fantastic host and great location. Wouldn't recommend it if you are a light sleeper though, can be rather noisy during the night on weekends.

  • It was the first time I visited Barcelona, and what a wonderful experience! The Gotic area is the perfect location, in the middle of the charming small streets with many great shops, cafés, restaurants and bars and walking distance to the beach, la Rambla and el Born. And we could not have wished for a better appartment or a more friendly host - thank you Amparo for your great help and for sending us all the usefull information. I hope to be able to rent your appartment again the next time I am visiting Barcelona ;)

  • Amparo was a delightful host. She was very helpful and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
she helped us with reservations and recommendations.
We loved our location in Barri Gotic. We walked to everything.
Our only problem was the noise level from the upper floor and the street.

    Response from Amparo:

HI Carol, thanks for your additional comment. I'm surprised about the neighbors. They are a family. I will talk with them. Thanks and wish you the best,
    Amparo

  • This is a really great apartment. Decorated very open and light with a beautiful high ceiling which suited us perfectly. Kitchen is fully equipped with modern gas stove, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The balcony in the living room was a great place for breakfast looking down a long 'classic spanish' alley. The internet was really fast and without hitches.
Location is perfect, smack in the middle of el Barrio Gotico which means most of the places we wanted to visit are within walking distance. The area may look a little rough but the mood is very friendly and nice. By the way, don't miss the little bakery round the corner on Plaça George Orwell for your breakfast bread as it opens every day at 6.30.
Despite arriving after nine a clock in the evening the lovely and very friendly Amparo met us in person to hand over the keys and show the apartment. Plus she sent (email hidden) of nice places in the neighbourhood beforehand so we had a sense of where to go once we had settled in and wanted a late snack and drinks. We'll certainly check if it's available again next time we'll go to Barcelona.

  • We had a lovely stay at the apartment, it is spacious, practical and cosy with some nice personal touches. Also very well located both for visiting the Ramblas, the beach and the marina. Amparo the owner is very helpful, quick to respond to any queries, and is also in touch after arrival to ensure you have a good stay.

  • This is a very lovely flat in the Gothic district in Barcelona. It is close to the Ramblas and the waterfront and many, many great places to eat. Don't be put off by the graffiti in the district or on the door of the apartment. The lobby of this old building and the steps up to the first floor apartment are old and were a little hard to maneuver for my older parents, but, to me, added to the charm of the place. The apartment was very comfortable for 4 of us and the price was reasonable for a 2 (nice) bathroom place. The kitchen is lovely and we used it for breakfast every day. The pictures make the rooms look larger than they are, but the high, gorgeously redone ceilings give this place a feeling of spaciouness. We were met and graciously welcomed by a friend of the host who was readily available through texting throughout our stay. This is a city apartment, so you do hear neighbors and some alley noise, but it didn't go late into the night. You are in the old city of narrow windy streets (a cab can't drive here so you will need to be prepared to walk your luggage in.) We really liked this place and its location for our first visit to Barcelona.
