The Space

Located in the heart of Panama's banking and nightlife district, the 'Area Bancaria', Casa 81 is steps away from such landmark properties as the Marriott (1 block), Riu Hotel (1/2 block) and the major transportation thoroughfares (50th Street and Via Espana) of the city. Within a short walk you will find a wide variety of restaurants, casinos (Marriott, Veneto, Hotel Panama), nightclubs (Calle Uruguay area), banks, 24-hour supermarkets (El Rey) and pharmacies (Arrocha).

Unlike other areas where safety is a concern or where access requires a private vehicle (e.g. San Francisco, el Dorado), the financial district is both safe and extremely convenient to public transportation.

This listing is for one room with a full-sized bed. The room has its own bathroom, TV with cable and there is free wifi access throughout the building.

Please note, breakfast is not included.

If you need an additional room, see our other listings.

Please note - there is currently a construction in progress next to our property. They start work at 7am and continue until 5pm Monday through Friday. At times the noise levels can be high.

  • We loved the location we were able to walk all of the downtown area. It is was veeu secure. The room was clean, bathroom was better than we exepcted, the ceilings are high so its very open. The court yard is lovely and private. We were able to lie down in the sun. We were just disappointed that there was no coffee or an beverages offered..the fridge was empty. Other than that we had a great experience. Ramon's mother and sister were very nice and answered any questions we had!

  • What a great stay!!! I went to Panama City for round about 3 weeks and I found this really nice place where you can only feel very welcome. It is a quiet oasis in big Panama City. The rooms are amazing and clean and there is a cute little garden. This house is very well located and in walking distance from restaurants and shops. Ramon, his mother and sister are such lovely and helpful people. Whenever I needed any recommendations or information they helped me with everything. If I go to Panama City in future I will definitely stay again at Casa81. Not comparable with a hotel, because it’s so much better! Thanks a lot to the whole family for a fantastic time.

  • What a delight to stay at Casa 81!
I was already in Panama City for 3 days for a celebration at one of the party hotels, and was looking for just the opposite for the following 4 nights: quiet, charming, secure, and I found all of them here. The house is tucked away on a side street in the banking district - a super convenient area within easy walking distance of Calle Uruguay and various restaurants. A few times I even walked over to the Fish Market and Casco Viejo, though that is a 1-hour walk along the waterfront.
The courtyard is very pleasant, though I was too busy exploring to enjoy it. I did see another couple there one evening and chatted with them briefly… other than that I felt I had the entire place to myself. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and well equipped, and the air conditioning came in handy, though I never had to cool the room too much (a little bit did just fine). There was enough closet space for an entire family.
When visiting Panama City again, I will definitely look to book here again, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.

  • My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Panama City. Our stay at Casa 81 could not have been more pleasant. Ramons mother and sister took great care of us, helping us find the best restaurants and, since my husband is a chef, even letting him use their kitchen to make his own Panamanian feast. Our room was beautiful, the ac worked great and the water pressure was excellent.
We really enjoyed having the pets around to make it feel even more like home. If we ever make it back to PC I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely, slightly unconventional, home away from home in this bustling city.

  • Loved this B&B in the middle of the financial district in Panama. The rooms are beautiful, clean, and big. I wish I would have stayed here longer but unfortunately had to go home. Beautiful house in the middle of Panama City near some of the best restaurants. Delicious Italian restaurant a one minute walk from the house. Ramon's mother was super attentive when I arrived from David.

  • Casa 81 was my special place for a few nights, hidden amongst the bustling city I discovered a clean & safe oasis. The staff and property were a refreshing dichotomy to the active surroundings.

Nothing but praise for Ramon, Robbi, both Aileen's and Vicenta.

Y al despues nuestra proxima cita,..
    Saludos! y muchissima gracias!

  • I stayed at Casa 81 for three nights and found warm, welcoming hosts who were eager to share information and socialize. They greeted me enthusiastically when I returned from a day around Panama and also respected my privacy. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom was very nice and the Air Conditioning saved my life more than once.

I really felt at home the time I spent there. I'd happily go back, and recommend the hosts & location to others.

  • Ramon offers a great quality room at a below market price. The location of home is great...easy access to Panama nightlife for those interested. I spoke with with some locals there, including the national police, and it's a pretty safe area. I plan to stay there again!!! A

Lauren and Steven, Thanks for your interest in Casa81. It would be a pleasure to host you. A little about myself. I'm a Californian, raised in Panama and recently re-located to NYC. Well, more specifically, to Dumbo. I'm a consultant in the city and have now been here about 4 years. Although my girlfriend is a huge fan of Park Slope and we may move there in the near future. I bought a family home in Panama about 5 years ago and recently decided to turn it into a B&B. My Mom is the on-site manager and she has a 2-person staff who maintain the house and grounds. So far it's been a great experience and I've had some outstanding guests. Let me know if there's anything you'd need in advance of your arrival and we'll be sure to provide. Regards, Ramon
