Melissa Scott made herself available to greet us at the apartment. This was done at our convenience, with explicit instructions how to get there. Her welcome was warm and friendly. The apartment was stocked with a few food items for breakfast, coffee and cream. A welcome treat after traveling.
The apartment was exactly as advertised and more. It was clean and well stocked with the essentials needed for traveling such as alarm clocks and hangers. There was also small containers of toiletries to replace forgotten items.
The place was well decorated, well lit and has a very comfortable bed.
The apartment is located in a well kept, quiet and mature treed neighborhood. A simple short walk to a grocery store and a coffee shop. A neighborhood in which a long leisurely walk was very pleasant. I was very relaxed and comfortable , the apartment itself felt like a holiday. I would return any time and would highly recommend this Airbnb.
The apartment and neighbourhood were great. On the day of arrival the host was very helpful. We stayed here for a month and we would recommend this apartment to anyone planning a trip to the Waterloo area.
Melissa is a lovely person who took the time to get to know us and to make us feel very welcome! Her location is perfectly placed on a quiet street with mature trees central to both Kitchener and Waterloo. Spacious, clean and esthetically pleasing, this basement apartment makes for an easy and comfortable stay.
I stayed in Melissa Scot's basement apartment for two months because of a research stay in the University of Waterloo. The apartment was perfect for my needs. It was ideally located with good bus connections (iExpress and bus 7) to downtown Waterloo and Kitchener. There was a supermarket just one block away so grocery shopping was convenient. The neighbourhood was enjoyable with lots of green, pleasant houses, friendly neighbours. And the apartment itself was fantastic; the pictures depict quite well how it all looks. The kitchen was well equipped and the big television with lots of radio channels was a blast. It was a sunny autumn and I enjoyed reading in the garden with curious squirrels dropping by. But most of all, I appreciated the small office where I spent countless hours working on my research.
Melissa was a splendid host. All preparations went very smoothly (and given that I came from Europe the time difference was a factor) and during my time in Kitchener was helpful when needed. There was a booklet with various practical instructions about the apartment, shopping opportunities in the area which served me quite well. Overall, I would definitely recommend this for shorter stays in the Waterloo area.
We had a nice stay here, with the whole basement apartment to ourselves. Melissa was welcoming, with some tips on the local area, and had a set us us up with a few supplies to start us off - the fresh bagels and cream cheese were much appreciated :)
The apartment itself was nicely furnished and had a good feel. There was some occasional humming that could be heard in the bedroom, which isn't ideal for a light sleeper, but it's manageable. It was good to have the separate study area with desk (as we both had to work while there), and the rooms were all a good size.
I had a great experience staying at City Suites Apartment for 3 weeks. Melissa was very welcoming and attentive, she left food in the kitchen, and the apartment was very clean. The photographs in the listing lived up to the reality. The neighbourhood is quiet and easily accessible to many amenities. The apartment felt like a home away from home. I would definitely recommend it.
My husband and I stayed in this quaint little apartment while visiting our son in Waterloo. Melissa was a wonderful host and went out of her way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The apartment was immaculate and the bed was more comfortable than most hotels we have stayed in. Our flight was not leaving until later in the day and she very graciously offered the use of the apartment until we were ready to leave.
About the Host, Melissa
I love to travel & live like the locals. My happiest days are spent exploring new places, or just sitting in a cafe and watching all that exists around me. I own a design company Mel V Inc, and an online retail store, Tableaux Ltd, with my partner, Spencer Thackray. We both love and appreciate interior design which has led us to purchasing multiple properties of which we have renovated and now rent out short term and long term. Whenever we travel we ALWAYS rent an apartment or house, and NEVER stay in hotels. We have both done an extensive amount of travelling for work and for pleasure and truly understand the needs of a weary traveller! I am torn between my love for Italy and my love for Southern California. My ideal day is spent sitting beachside in Marina Del Rey with a glass of red wine watching the sunset!
