The campsite made a very lovely first impression. The space was welcoming and homely, the little wagon we stayed in was very nicely constructed, cosy and clean. We are a family who live in a remote area so for us the thrill was not in the simplicity and time spent in nature but in spending time socializing round a campfire or enjoying the kids making friends and sharing an experience away from home. This is where our experience fell a little short as the site was quiet and we saw little of our hostess. We had little opportunity to ask for example for info on the area or for wood for the fire...Our second evening was more as we hoped as we were joined for a drink and a game of football by the sister and young children of the owner. We spent our third night in a hotel for a change of pace which worked our at just 19 euro more than a night in the wagon. For the difference in price we each had beds, kids club, pool, bathroom, WiFi, electricity etc.. The booking charge from Airbnb pushed the price up so we felt it was dear enough for the facilities we got. A fabulous setting though and great to tour about. A great place to go with a group of friends or a few families but I would want a good (email hidden)finitely recommend for any family with children that want a genuine experience of freedom and space - you won't be left glued to a screen and you will get to toast marshmallows! A lovely spot and we wish Sharon the very best in her venture
Myself and three of my friends stayed at Kitty's Camping after our day at the cliffs and we truly loved it. The green wagon was so cute, and the beds were wonderful. It was pretty chilly and started raining early in the morning, so we opened the door and the back window for a breeze and snuggled under the wonderfully warm down comforter. It's the way to camp, that's for sure. The common areas are lovely and inviting, as well. We built a fire and swung on the hammock, reading and knitting under the stars. It's truly a beautiful place.
Two pieces of good info to know though -- make sure you bring towels. We didn't think and had to do a bit of drip and dry, which isn't so fun in the cold irish weather. And second, the toilets are modern, but they don't flush traditionally. You fill a big bucket with water from the spicket by the toilet and dump it as fast as possible into the bowl of the toilet. Who knew that actually worked?!
Overall, I really recommend this place!
Wonderful weekend at Kitty's camping! The wagon was super comfortable and the campsite had everything we needed. Sharon and Sean were great hosts and provided breakfast for self cooking and in the evening we had a lovely time sitting around the campfire.
We found the place very easily with the instructions and googling the nearby yoga retreat.
The site is a fair distance from the nearest town, so don't expect to be walking to a pub, but it's perfect for a romantic getaway or a family weekend.
Staying at Kitty's camping was one of the highlights of our time in Ireland, and that is saying a lot. We loved our wagon. Our family of four was nicely cozy, and it was a treat to wake up to a view of hedgerows and horses. Sharon is a terrific hostess, sharing maps, touring tips, restaurant recommendations, and driving directions, as well as providing eggs, bacon and milk for the mornings. We wish we has stayed with her one more night, and hope to return for another stay soon. This is a wonderful break after a string of nights in hotels!
