About This Listing
Walk to everything; restaurants, shopping, Bluebird Park for Music in the Park, Brooks St Beach to surf, Oak St Beach to SUP, swim or snorkel. Ride the free trolley downtown or to the festivals. Enjoy the 15 minute walk to town along the beach or window shopping on Coast Hwy.
Bluebird Park is 2 blocks away, fill a picnic basket from the kitchen (don't forget the wine!), grab the beach chairs, a blanket and head over after a day at the beach to listen to Music in the Park on Sundays.
From the Master Bedroom at night when the waves are big, will hear them breaking on the shore 4 blocks away. The weather is mild enough to leave the sliding door open most of the year. Swing in the chair hammock hanging on the upstairs deck off the Master Bedroom and take in the sunset colors or from one of the lounges on the deck.
It's easy to find a restaurant to suit your passion within walking distance, or simply stroll along the beach, enjoy the sunset and come home for an evening barbecue & sink into the backyard hammock. Don't forget to bring back something fresh from the downtown Farmers Market to add to a meal you'll cook up in the family style kitchen. Get a fire going and finish off desert in the living room in front of the fire.
We have surfboards, a boogie board, sand toys, beach towels, beach chairs & umbrellas and a canvas wagon to tow it all down to the beach. There are two flat screen TV's: 60" & 50" & WiFi; Roku, DVD, Blu-Ray, Wii, and expanded cable services.

Nancy was the perfect host, and a great, easy communicator. Her lovely home was just as described, perhaps better than described. The home comfortably slept four of us, was decorated in a homey, beachy fashion and included everything we needed, and a lot things we didn't use (like surfboards and beach toys). The location was perfect; a few blocks from the beach with a lovely deck. Really, I can't use words to describe how great the house is or how great the experience was. Look at Nancy's description and pictures and just go! We will be back. Thank you, Nancy!
Barbara is an amazing host! She makes herself available by phone and email from beginning to the end of your stay. The booklet she provides on the property is detailed and also gives wonderful suggestions to local eateries, beaches, and events.
The house is very accurate to the pictures (even better!). The linens, pillows, and bathroom towels are 5 star hotel quality. The house is very clean and orderly. Being an all adult group- we really appreciated that all three bedrooms had at least a queen size bed and all rooms had french doors you could open for that fresh beach air to flow in. Can't beat it!
We stayed in one night and cooked dinner- the kitchen is stocked with everything you need and a BBQ outside. The patio is great for outside dining and the lighting is perfect with the strings of tea lights. Very friendly quiet neighborhood-- simply the perfect family get away.
Thank you Barbara!
After a road trip through the south-west of the USA, this was the perfect place for us to have a few relaxing last days to enjoy the Californian sun and beach life. A beautiful house and a most attentive host. When we arrived the fridge and the pantry where stocked with items we were invited to use and there were even fresh flowers in the house. We didn't meet Barbara in person but she regularly checked via mail if everything was going ok. The house is wonderful, especially the sun deck next to the upstairs master bedroom with a view on the ocean and the garden with lot's of shade and comfortable furniture and a fire place + BBQ. Everything we needed we found here including beach chairs and toys. The beach is only a 5 minute walk away. Great experience for us to watch surfers in action and to try a bit of skim boarding ourselves.
Plenty of shopping and dining options within walking distance. If we have the opportunity to visit Laguna Beach again, we would definitely rent this lovely house again!
We had an amazing time at this property. Barbara is the most brilliant host, providing some very welcome groceries on arrival and generally making the whole process pleasant and stress-free from the off. The house is terrific. Particularly the garden area which has plenty of spots to laze in! Everything you might need, you will find in this house...
It's perfectly located close to the beach, but set far enough back for some peace and tranquility too. We were still pinching ourselves at the end of the week!
Can recommend for families, with or without children, and for groups of friends as there's plenty of space inside the house and out.
Barbara was a delight to work with and had thought of everything to make our summer vacation in her Laguna Beach cottage a wonderful experience! She provided a comprehensive, informative guide about the house and the area electronically just prior to our check in and a hard copy available at the house throughout our stay. Her home was very inviting and comfortable not to mention a great view of the Pacific Ocean from the upstairs deck while relaxing. The back yard had everything needed for an outdoor cook out dinner party which we enjoyed with local friends and family in town. It is perfectly situated just far enough away from PCH for a quiet communal feeling and yet close enough for us to walk to the beach whenever we wanted. She even has boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas, etc for us to use. Thank you, Barbara for sharing your lovely home with our family! We'll be sure to contact you for our next trip to Laguna.
My family and I had a terrific experience staying at Barbara's home. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and encouraged us to make ourselves at home. She told us about the 4th of July parade on Brooks Street and left materials to decorate the house for the event! Very fun! The house is equiped with all the necessary beach paraphernalia; beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards and lots of fresh towels. The cottage was exactly as described and since I am very familiar with the neighborhood, I knew it was located exactly where we wanted to be; walking distance to the beach, shopping and downtown. My family really enjoyed their stay and didn't want the vacation to end. We were able to have some quality family time and reconnect with extended family as well. We and our extended family had a great pot luck dinner in the backyard, which is very well suited for larger gatherings.
Barbara's home was a wonderful place for my family and I to stay while visiting Laguna Beach for a wedding. Many of the points I read in other reviews were confirmed in my own experience. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and great for a vacation getaway. The home is within convenient reach of the beach, local restaurants, stores, and grocers. Above all, Barbara was an amazing host. She was sure to provide all the information and necessities that we could need including beach towels and snacks. My family was incredibly happy to stay here.
Thank You Katie, that is very touching, and I'll be sure to let Bob know that too, he and Vicki have been special neighbors & friends for over 30 years. Turning my home over to this kind of rental has been one of the most difficult choices I've had to make, only because of the impact it would have on my immediate neighbors, Bob & Vicki especially, but he has told me that he loves meeting my guests, and he enjoyed speaking with your family. I've been most fortunate that every family into my home has been a gift.
About the Host, Barbara
I've lived in this home for almost 35 years, and raised my two sons here. They both graduated LBHS where they played H2O Polo, and lifeguarded for City of Laguna Beach for years. Now they are both married with children of their own, and my husband is surfing the big wave in heaven. I'm ready to share my wonderful home with others wishing to spend some time in the beautiful waters down at the end of Brooks Street.
