Stunning architect designed property on a 300 acre organic farm surrounded by panoramic views of this incredible landscape. Design-led and bespoke, Deelin is out of the ordinary in every way. Outside the house is a modern copy of an Irish georgian Hunting Lodge on a grand scale, with huge sash windows which let the light and views flood in. Inside Deelin Mór is modern and simple - reminiscent of an art space - with underfloor heating, oak and limestone floors and white walls, allowing the furniture and the people to be the 'art' in the room. As such the home easily morphs from a family friendly place where children can run around and play, to a peaceful sanctuary for a couple (or two) to get away from the bustle of city life, (email hidden) for a family get-together or a celebration with friends. The kitchen table seats 10 comfortably with extra chairs if you meet new friends during your stay (a normal occurrence here as the people are lovely and friendly).
Deelin Mór has 5 bedrooms: 3 large (1 superking, 2 kingsize beds), 1 (cosy) double and 1 double/triple. The master bedroom has a four poster bed, mahogany wardrobe and chest of drawers, seat, mirror and sideboard. It connects to a large stone wet-room with sunken bath, rain shower and bidet. The main guest room has a beautiful view from the large sash window onto the flower garden across the front of the kitchen towards Slieve Carran. Across the hall is the family bathroom - with bath, shower head, bidet, loo and sink - and the cosy double. The Garden Room has stunning views across the burren, a large sofa, open fire, bedside tables, full length mirror and cupboard for clothes. There is also a third shower room and loo in the basement - practical rather than luxurious - which can be used if you have a larger party and a WC in the back hallway.
The kitchen is huge and fully equipped - cutlery and crockery for 18, large selection of kitchen implements plus kenwood, hand held mixer, juicer etc. The kitchen is divided into three areas. The top area is where you can prepare and cook, or hang out with a drink and watch someone else do the work. Central to the room is the large dining room table. At the far end are two large sofas and the fireplace - a great adult hang out area. With Bose speaker (and ipod) supplied, you will probably end up spending much of your time here. But if you do want peace and quiet, the library is a beautiful wood panelled room where you can admire the view from the comfy Conran sofa, watch a movie (we don't have a TV connection - this is about getting away from it all after all!) or read a book by the fire with a glass of wine. Downstairs is the utility room - and the pool (email hidden) to hang out in particularly late in the evening when you can no longer see the views. Obviously on a nice day the garden (email hidden) to gather, with it's large garden table, chairs and benches. Sitting outside you are surrounded by farmland and can enjoy the sound of the birds, cattle, sheep and feral goats.
Deelin Mór is an unusual place because it is what you make it. If you want peace, quiet & privacy then this is definitely the place. The house is about a mile from the road and sits surrounded by its own farmland. If you want to celebrate, then the privacy means you won't disturb anyone. We can help you make your holiday special by pointing you in the direction of whatever floats your boat from outdoor adventure (surfing, climbing, sailing, fishing, walking, kayaking etc) to nature, culture, restaurants, pubs etc.
Deelin Mór is 2 miles from the nearest village but less than an hour from the Cliffs of Moher, Shannon Airport, Galway City, Connemara, the Shannon River - in other words in the centre of everything the area has to offer. We sit in the middle of Burren hills with fantastic views, but only 10 minutes from the coast and access to local beaches - the best of all worlds. We have abundant local restaurants & pubs in neighbouring villages and towns plus small but well stocked shops in all directions in about 15 mins drive.
On our doorstep are: The Burren National Park, The Burren Perfumery, Poulnabrone Dolmen, Cahercommaun Ring Fort, Flaggy Shore, Carron Turlough, Aillwee Caves, Kilfenora Cathedral & Crosses, Dysert O'Dea Castle, the fishing villages of Ballyvaughan and Kinvara, Fanore and Tracht Beaches and lots and lots of stunning views. Slightly further afield are the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands, Doolin, Connemara, the Shannon Estuary and so on. Practically the whole of Clare is accessible within an hour.
As a rural area there isn't any useful public transport from a tourist point of view. Once you get here you may not want to leave, but you will still need a car for the initial journey! If you like cycling both Kinvara and Ballyvaughan offer rentals which - if you're fit - are a great way to get around. There are also electric bicycles available!
Uniqueness. Hmmm. If the 300 acre organic estate, private location, access to local attractions and the Burren itself (a unique floral landscape, UNESCO Geopark & SAC) aren't sufficient, then the house will be. Rarely are houses built in such a bespoke manner. In scale alone it stands apart. It's decor is both modern and simplistic, yet plush and comfortable - as one of our guests said 'like staying with a friend rather than renting a holiday home'.
We really want you to enjoy your stay with us, and look forward to welcoming you to this amazing place.

It´s a pitty we did not meet Helen however Enda (email hidden). He was welcoming us with a lot of information for how to explore and enjoy the region. The room was clean and comfortable. The Farmhouse is a beautiful, calm and quiet place. There (email hidden) in Carran with good food. This B&B is absolutely recommendable and we would stay there again.
Yes, I'm disappointed not to have met you, but Enda said you were lovely guests - his first experience of hosting on his own so I'm glad you had a good visit with us. Thank you for recommending us, and hopefully you will come again some day.
Helen and Enda's farm house was our last stop on a 2 week journey from Dublin to Galway. They are gracious hosts and we fell into an easy rhythm with them. We/they felt more like family than guests. We shared a meal or two, got great advice and directions on what to see in the area. We shared stories, took walks, played with their dog and cats. We had great sleeps on the comfortable bed. I would highly recommend this listing to any of my friends traveling to their area.
This is a very nice little cottage in the middle of the Burren, very quiet and it's ideal if you want to explore this beautiful landscape. Helen was very kind and give us good advices and Ruby the little Dog is always ready to go for a stroll.
Thanks a lot for your warm welcome. Hamida & Nicolas
We love staying with Helen and Enda! What a warm, welcoming home and a wonderful couple to match! We had lovely chats about our passions for travel and also the uniqueness of the Burren region. The room was clean and comfortable and we were provided plenty of information for how to explore and enjoy the region. Helen was flexible with breakfast and our lazy schedule which was much appreciated. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Thanks guys, it was great meeting you both and you would have been welcome to stay for quite a few days more. Your families must be delighted to have you (website hidden) of luck in your next venture and hope to meet you again one day.

p.s. Eggs are always on the menu - sorry if we didn't make that clear.
We absolutely loved our stay with Helen and Enda!! Their house was gorgeous and had a amazing views of the Burren. Both Helen and Enda made us feel so welcome into their home. We talked for hours about a variety of topics as they seemed genuinely interested in our culture and our experiences. Helen was so amazing at giving us detailed directions around the area, as well as making suggestions on things to do she even gave us maps where certain things "off the beaten bath" were located. Our last night in town we all went out for a pint at the local pub. If you are ever in the area stay with them! It was an amazing experience.
Helen & Enda were delightful hosts and we very much enjoyed our two day stay with them. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Helen cooked a delicious dinner for us one evening, and our conversations were a pleasure. We so much enjoyed their company that one evening we went out and had dinner at a local restaurant on the water. The nearby Burren is exotic and starkly beautiful, and the Cliffs of Moher, also only a short drive away, were nothing short of breathtaking and awe inspiring! Helen and Enda also have a bigger house available nearby for large groups, which might be considered for group stays in the Burren area.
I spent a wonderful two nights here. This is my kind of place! Helen and Enda - and their charming house - are warm, welcoming and easy-going, but they are really looking after their guests' comfort and welfare, with many lovely small touches of care. That little jug of garden flowers in the guest-room, the hand-made soap, and the white bathrobe hanging ready behind the door. Essentials like a really comfy bed and good bed linen, and less usual features such as the absolutely tranquil and homely feel of the house, with its deeply comfortable sofas and rugs; its setting among apple trees; the peacefulness of the secluded valley, and the singing of a million songbirds in one of the finest dawn choruses you are likely to hear anywhere (if you are here in the springtime, and the birds are gigging). And the Burren cuckoos hard at it, every time you go out for a walk!
It was my very first use of Airbnb, and Helen was so patient, as I struggled with my booking. The description and photos are a true representation of the kind of house it is, and the kind of place it is set in. There are shelves of books and maps and local information, and it is no great distance to the local pub, or to the the excellent organic café at the Burren Perfumery in Carran. Helen and Enda are open, friendly, and interesting people, with lots going on, but with time to share with visitors, at long breakfast-times with bottomless pots of tea, and an array of home-made jams and local wildflower honey to put on your toast. For a visitor, it is idyllic! The farm is set in a sheltered bowl in the Burren hills, a mix of open pasture and hazel woodland, with paths that wander up into the hills. It is a very special sort of place! Many thanks to you both for how nicely you look after your visitors - I plan to be back...
Thank you Helen for thestay in your house. We really enjoyed it with you, Enda, Ruby and Co. We felt very welcom in your home.
Thanks, Patricia and Jannette
We had a lovely stay with Helen and Enda. Even before we arrived, Helen offered loads of help with directions and logistics, and once we got there, we had a nice cup of tea with her and caught up a bit, plus received some suggestions tailored to our interests. The house and bedroom are comfortable, and in a very quiet/remote location (mind the cows that may be on the driveway on the way in!), yet not too far from civilization. We had the run of the place one night when Helen and Enda were out, and they set us up to utilize the TV/DVD, fireplace, etc. They even kindly offered to let us use the kitchen to cook if we wanted. Their small dog Ruby (who sleeps with them) is a sweetheart, as were the kittens that spent most of their time in the laundry room and aren't allowed in the bedrooms (one of them is named "Dougal", for those of you who are fans of "Father Ted"). All in all, we had a grand time. Highly recommended.
All I can say is...we miss this place and these wonderful people (and their world's-sweetest-dog) a LOT! I'm just about ready to move in :) Helen and Enda are marvelously warm and generous hosts, and their cozy and comfortable cottage situated in the heart of the Burren is the perfect place to explore this gorgeously rugged landscape. Stone walls winding all the way up the mountain, limestone and clear springs and colorful snails, tea and carrot cake at the Burren Perfumery, tiny orchids, a deep sense of home...still dreaming about it. Thank you!!!
