Usk Cottage is a first floor apartment which is part of a small complex of eight holiday cottages set around a courtyard here at The Neuadd. (website hidden) .
Usk is a great little place for two with a full kitchen so you can prepare all your meals to your own budget and try out the wonderful local produce available in the unique independent shops of Crickhowell and around.
Enter via a hallway which provides plenty of space for all your outdoor gear. This leads into a large open plan living area with a vaulted ceiling. Here there is plenty of space to plan your days with a perfectly positioned sofa to take in the panoramic views across Crickhowell and the Usk valley. Fully equipped with a 32" freeview HD TV and DVD player for those days when you just want to be cosy inside. Free wifi too.
The self catering apartment also hosts a small dining table and locally hand crafted kitchen with all the equipment expected in a modern kitchen. There is a separate bathroom off the hall with a shower over the bath and plenty of hot water to soak away all those aching muscles after a day out in the hills.
The bedroom is also directly off the hall with a romantic four poster bed and vaulted ceiling ,The bedroom window looks down into the courtyard and beyond towards Llangattock mountain.
If you bring your bike we can store it for you in a secure bike shed and provide bike washing facilities. There is also a shared laundry, with washing machine and dryer if you happen to get wet or muddy too!
There are lots of ideas for activities, routes and the best pubs on our website. Many walks can be accessed directly from The Neuadd and you can happily spend your time here without taking your car out of our carpark. If you want to bring your friends we have other cottages that we could fix them up with too. If you just want tranquility and quiet you will find it in abundance here. Not forgetting the wonderful night skies that the Brecon Beacons are so famous for.
If you are arriving by train then I can pick you from Abergavenny station or you can get the bus almost to the door.
Quite often people will take the cottage for a few days but I am happy to do single nights if the cottage is available (you can see availability on our website).
If you are looking for a longer let, maybe you are working close by or between houses or just fancy having a holiday cottage in the Beacons for a while then contact me and we can discuss the possibilities.
The apartment is self contained and accessed via a staircase with a door directly onto the shared courtyard. The courtyard, which has lovely views towards The Sugar Loaf Mountain has plenty of garden furniture and a BBQ for guests use.
There is a shared laundry room with washing machine and dryer which are coin operated.
Enjoy yourselves and leave the place as you found it :-)
What a lovely cottage in a spectacular location. The views out of the windows are incredible. We enjoyed a meal out in the courtyard making the most of the remaining sun before it set behind the mountains. Just what we needed after a long day mountain biking! Julia noticed we had bikes and came and gave us a key to a secure lock up for the bikes which was a bonus. I would definitely recommend this cottage if you are looking to visit the area.
We were delighted with our stay in Usk cottage. Julia was a very kind and helpful hostess. The appartment was lovely and in pristine condition. Beautiful place.
Myself and my partner had a wonderful time in the Brecon's. Julia's cottage was warm and welcoming with a huge selection of amenities and resources. Incredibly private and incredible cosy. Lovely all round!
I had a wonderful stay at Usk cottage and fell thoroughly in love with Wales. Julia was so helpful and the area easily accessible by bus but still very much off the beaten path and isolated. I definitely recommend the table top mountain loop which can be done from the cottage and will give you an excellent tour of the entire valley. Just be ready for a lot of walking! I would happily stay here again.
Beautiful cottage with everything you would need in a beautiful part of the country. Plenty of near by walks and easy access to the rest of the brecon beacons by car. We only met Julie briefly as we preferred to keep to ourselves, but she was very friendly and had all the local knowledge you would need. A great weekend away!
Thanks for having us Julia, we loved staying at Usk cottage. Incredible value for money, lovely space and a great warm feel about the place. Loved going for morning runs along the canal! Lovely comfy bed was a bonus too.
Nearly home after a fabulous 3 day break in Usk Cottage. The upstairs 'flat' was perfect for a short break...the bed was comfy, everywhere spotlessly clean and it was warm & comfortable. The welcome tray with milk, biscuits and fresh flowers was a lovely touch. The parking was very good. We enjoyed exploring the area. The circular walk based around the nearby canal right from the house can be recommended. Thank you, Julia, for providing the ideal base.

Hi, I love living here at The Neuadd with my husband Peter and occasionally my kids (all grown up now but visiting here for climbing, walking and biking) and enjoy sharing this beautiful place with guests and friends, Walking and mountain biking are the reasons I came to live here and its great getting out and exploring the national park and then being able to pass on my local knowledge, I am also a Brecon Beacons Ambassador so constantly improving my experience of this wonderful location to pass onto visitors.
I am a pilates teacher too and also attend a ballet class, its amazing what facilities are here in and around Crickhowell when you start looking. There is a great community of artists too and if you like knitting and crafts as I do then there is lots of inspiration to be found locally.
I love coming home to here after I've been away on holiday and settling back into my warm and cosy kitchen, knowing that of all the places I have traveled to for me this is still the most beautiful.
