It is an interesting inner city area with a lot of early Dunedin history,There is still a good mix of domestic and commercial historical architecture,it is not a bland suburbia. The people a mix of professional, student ,trades and the odd boarding house.
Buses at bottom of street ,easy inner city walking
I cannot fault the apartment or the host. Barry who does not live in the complex, was available on SMS all day and evening for inquiries. He was very flexible with check in and out. We would SMS him our eta and he would make a key available.
Making Dunedin our base he also accommodated us with split nights so we could tour Christchurch and Queenstown.
The apartment is an easy stroll to the Octagon - Centre of Dunedin - with numerous attractions. There are buses at the bottom of the street into town. If you have a hire car there is parking on site.
The apartment was very clean and equipped with high end appliances. The rooms were self contained and there was a fully equipped kitchen and lounge room for the quests to use. All in all 5 star accommodation.
After two weeks of budget accommodation in the south of NZ Barry's place was a slice of heaven. A smart self-contained room with a small kitchenette, there was also a bigger fully equipped shared kitchen downstairs. The en-suite was neat and clean with a great shower! The room was clean, modern and well-furnished. The view from the room looks out to the harbour. We enjoyed having breakfast on the balcony. Barry was responsive with booking and also flexible with check-in. Highly recommended.
Lovely little appartment, very clean and modern. Had everything I needed. Nice and quiet - I had good sleeps every night. Barry was very accommodating and everything ran smoothly. Would definitely come back again!
What can I say this studio apartment was fantastic, really high quality fixtures and fittings even down to the sheets and towels, all matching and high spec, very nice. The queen size bed was large and very comfortable and there was a TV and some nice leather chairs and a desk. We were on the top floor so had fabulous views over the town and the harbour, with a balcony for sitting out to have breakfast. The shower was good with high pressure and there was plenty of storage space which was good, the fridge was very welcome and the community lounge sky tv and kitchen just made it even more perfect. A ten minute walk into town and close to everything, also it's very close to the Princes St depot if your on Nakedbus, thanks to Barry and his wife, we had a wonderful time here and would recommend it to anyone, Dunedin is a lovely town with lots of things to do and see, we loved the Art Gallery and the Settlers Museum best.
The apartments were lovely and large and had every amenities required in the room, fridge, kettle, microwave, tv. The bathroom was also very spacious with a great shower with plenty of pressure. There is also a great communal living - cooking area, with tv and couches, where we met the other friendly residents living there. We had a great stay here and would highly recommend Barry's place as excellent value for money!
It's a lovely apartment really close to the city centre. You can hear some traffic noise if the windows open but you are in the city after all, the apartment block itself is very quiet. You have kettle and microwave in your room but most cooking you'll do in the communal kitchen downstairs which is also clean and well equipped. It's really well located for Otago peninsula which is beautiful and St Clair which is a lovely seaside suburb. We stayed 10 days, could have happily stayed longer. Thanks Barry.
This was an excellent place to stay! Everything is clean, modern, and new, and you have everything you need. There is a big comfortable bed; a fast internet connection; you have a fridge, microwave, plates, saucers, the works; the shower has good water pressure. I stayed eighteen days, and while there were people in the other apartments the place was perfectly quiet and I could go to sleep as early as I wished and sleep soundly. I had a beautiful view of the harbour and the hills of the peninsula, and all you have to do is open the window to get fresh crisp air off the harbour, and hear the seagulls. I was in Dunedin to get some work done, and some days I would walk to the library, while other days I would just work at home, which was perfectly comfortable. A great price and an unbeatable place to stay!
The building was very modern, really crisp clean lines and had an overall masculine feel. Super clean everywhere. All the furniture and appliances are new. The bed was nice and firm, just how I like it and slept very well. It was nice and quiet. Overall, nice…could use a dash of color, but all the muted grey tones kept it cool. Check-in with Barry was a piece of cake. He was pleasant and helped me with my big bag up to the third floor. He noted that he didn't live on the property but was very close by if I needed anything to just give him a call. Since everything was in order, I was set! There are many local buses that stop just 2 blocks downhill from the apartment that go right downtown to the Octagon (city center) and beyond.
Barry made our stay very pleasant. The appartment was clean, spacious, close to the centre, and we will definately go there again when in dunedin. Recommended!
The apartment was excellent. Very clean and modern with high-quality furniture. Barry was friendly and helpful. Dunedin was fantastic. The apartment is a short 10 minute walk from the Octagon. It is a bit tough to find the first time, so I'd recommend printing a map and having a look at (website hidden) StreetView before coming. All in all, it was an excellent experience.
