The apartment was delightful, even better than we expected. We felt as though we were North Beach locals. We tried many of John's recommended restaurants and bars. We only saw John once but had email an text communication to welcome and brief us. As a mature couple this was ideal for us and gave us a great taste of life in an Francisco.
Just got back from San Francisco and had a fabulous time! John's place was awesome…such a cool home with modern features combined with so much character. We absolutely loved his place. He had a great book full of information on the area, the place was spotless, he also left us a basket full of snacks and a bottle of champagne. We have had other good experience on airbnb but, this was by far the best. The location of his place was great and in walking distance of many restaurants, shops, coffee houses, nightlife, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf and much more…we walked everywhere. I would highly recommend John's place for anyone looking to be right in the heart of San Francisco. Thank you John for helping make our trip so memorable. Natalie
We had a very nice stay at John's place in SF. The apartment was as described, even better than expected.
We had two separate rooms and two separate bathrooms which was very convenient for us (my wife, baby and me, and a colleague). The place was clean, great size, with full kitchen, very comfortable with all the essentials included (towels, dish soap, coffee, Wi-fi, TV, etc), just like home.
The neighbourhood is simply amazing. We discovered North Beach and it's jewels. Nice restaurants, cafés, and delicatessens or groceries just steps away. Due to it's central location, we walked every day to Union square, China town, Fisherman's wharf, Coit tower, and more. Caffe Trieste right at the corner makes the best cappuccino grande I ever tasted.
We really enjoyed our stay at John's place in North Beach and definitely recommend it. John was a great host, everything was as described or even better. He was flexible about our arrival time and attentive to our needs, even before getting to SF, making sure we travel with peace of mind.
Thank you John for sharing your charming apartment with us. It was a pleasure to stay there. The treats and provisions were appreciated, as was your advice. Excellent location with ability to walk and bike just about everywhere.
A colleague and I stayed at this apartment for 3 weeks and it was an absolutely excellent stay. First, John is very kind and flexible about your arrival and needs. He's very friendly about any request you might come up with and up for a chat if you bump into him. He also respects your privacy and leaves you to your self unless you show him that you'd like to chat or have some occasional advice.
The apartment is very nice, clean and well stocked will everything you might need, from a lot of extra clean towels to garbage bags.
There's a built in heating system which is very easy to use, and can heat up the entire place in minutes. Very convenient on a cold day.
The apartment is placed in a very nice neighborhood, very close to a very colorful street around Columbus and Broadway. Chinatown and Little Italy is only a few minutes walk away, so whatever you need you can get it without walking too much.
I can definitely recommend the Italian "Restaurant Ideale" which is very close by. Café Grecco for a nice cup of coffee and The Saloon to hang out for a beer... but get there early, the crowd will fill up because of the frequent live music.
I will definitely go back to this place again!
My colleague and I stayed at 41 Pollard Place to attend a conference at the Moscone Center. The place was clean, very nicely furnished, well stocked with condiments and well lighted and heated. What really made our stay great was the location; the Ferry Building is an easy walk, the Moscone Center as well and what can be said about staying in North Beach that is not good? We truly enjoyed the Cafe Puccine for breakfast and the Rogue Brewery for after work beers. When we are next in San Francisco we will endeavor to stay at this wonderful place. One word of caution; make sure you are in good walking shape! This caveat is true for any place, at least any place worthwhile, in San Francisco.
First, John accommodated us when a death in our family caused us to change the dates for our stay from October to February. I texted John from the airport upon our arrival, and when we reached the apartment John was standing outside to welcome us. A tour of the apartment, complete with a welcoming bottle of prosecco followed, John checked in on us a couple of times, always helpful but never intrusive. The apartment is clean, well supplied, comfortable and convenient. One could not have a better host and place to stay in San Francisco.
