In the heart of San Francisco's renowned North Beach is our inviting alley hideaway situated in a 1908 building. This upscale flat has just been completely renovated and includes:
- 2 bedrooms with a queen size bed in each
- 1 full bath with tub/shower
- PLUS a spacious 1/2 bath off the master bedroom
- Kitchen and living room share one enjoyable communal space
- Full kitchen complete with gas stove, full refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, garbage disposal, pantry and a friendly island that seats 4. It also has contemporary cabinets and Caesarstone quartz counter tops
- Comfortable living room with 40" flat screen cable HDTV
- Wireless internet
- Your own washer and dryer too!
- Original wood fir floors throughout the flat
- There is a handy health food/grocery store just around the corner
- Fabulous restaurants – Italian, Greek, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai cuisine, and great American hamburgers all within a block or two.

In just a short jaunt you can see the sights of Fisherman's Wharf, enjoy Coit Tower and its colorful WPA murals, downtown San Francisco and Union Square surrounded by a multitude of department stores and boutiques, the famous Ferry Building home to quality farmers' markets and mouthwatering food, Chinatown with its authentic cuisine, lively culture, and backdoor side alleys. You can stroll the Embarcadero, a waterfront promenade that leads to AT&T Park and in just two miles you can catch a Giants baseball game (between the months of April to October). Public transportation to anywhere in the city is easy and accessible. There are a myriad of neighborhood entertainment choices to explore within minutes of the flat — restaurants and cafes, bookstores and art galleries, music and the nightlife that North Beach is famous for. At the end of it all, you get to retreat home to your quiet alley oasis, relish the day's exciting discoveries, and restore and rejuvenate for your adventures tomorrow.

  • Located in the heart of North Beach but still very quiet, John's place is marvelous. Furnishings are highly satisfying and the hosts are more than friendly and helpful. Plus, the neighborhood is very nice and provides lots of restaurants, pubs and bars.

  • We found John an excellent host. The location of the apartment was very central to a number of amenities and his list of activities was extremely clear and detailed.

We would not hesitate recommending this property and John as a host to anyone visiting SF.

  • We were a little late arriving but John was most courteous and took his time showing us all we needed to know even though he wanted to get on the road. The apartment is just as described but only better in the flesh! A nice chilled bottle of presecco was a very nice welcome gift from our host.
Fantastic facilities and be sure to take note of John's suggestions for morning coffee and dinner etc. as they certainly didn't disappoint.
The apartment is in an ideal location and we were able to walk to all the popular nearby spots such as Fisherman's Wharf, China Town and of course Union Square.
This was my first visit to this beautiful city but if and when I return I will certainly hope to stay at this address again.
    Thank you John.

  • We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful apartment just recently. We were on a 3 1/2 week family holiday (2 adults and 2 children) and our final stop was in San Fransisco for 5 nights. We looked at various hotels and a friend recommended Airbnb and we are so glad we used this option.
John was a wonderful host, he greeted us when we arrived and gave us some good tips, (he had a folder with all the info we needed which was very helpful), he also allowed us to leave our luggage at the apartment prior to our check in and after our check out which was very helpful.
The apartment was perfect in every way - the location was halfway between Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf so it was perfect. The apartment had all the amenities we needed (wifi, excellent kitchen, two bathrooms, washing machine, etc). We had the opportunity to experience the real San Fransisco by staying here. It was just like you see in the movies!
We went to a number of the local italian restaurants in North Beach (just around the corner) and they were all great. We walked to most sights from the apartment and also caught public transport easily. After visiting a number of cities across California this was our favorite accommodation and location. Thank you John for making our stay so wonderful. Hopefully we will come back and we would highly recommend this, especially for families.

  • John was a great host. The apartment couldn't have been cleaner or better equipped. I loved the top loading washing machine, and I'd never seen an apartment with so many fresh towels (this was a mum and daughter holiday!). The beds were very comfy and, apart from Saturday night, I think we had the quietest place in North beach!
We found the best places to eat and drink right on the doorstep and all kinds of attractions within very easy walking distance. We bought a muni pass and were soon roaming all over the city -we had an amazing time and I can't recommend John's apartment highly enough. We will definitely return.
Thank you John, we loved every minute.

  • A great bit of paradise in the big city. Everyhing you need is awaiting you. Plenty of warm blankets, an iroing board with an iron, lots of fresh towels, fresh coffee to brew or's's paradise. A great modern decor sets it a part. A great kitchen greets you near the front door, television and wifi. Two bedrooms and one and half bathrooms were perfect for a four (4) sister's week vacation retreat. Perfect location for some of the best resturants in North Beach. Chinatown and Little Italy all in walking distance. Union Square shopping was just a walk or taxi cab away. A great bit of paradise in the big city. Perfection.....

  • We spent two weeks here in April 2014. We were made very welcome. The apartment was spotlessly clean and comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The information booklet was helpful and instructive and gave lots of suggestions many of which we followed including a very helpful taxi firm. The WiFi was invaluable as we needed to track progress of a yacht race and had two internet-hungry young people with us! It was very quiet at night. I would happily stay there again.

  • I stayed for a week at John's place in March. It was lovely and a wonderful place to stay in San Francisco. The flat has a very central location in North Beach's little Italy. Its just a short walk to china town and it took me about 15 minutes (down the hills!!) to the Ferry Building. I was spoilt for choice for food and there was an abundance of good coffee on the doorstep. We also found a great cocktail bar down Romolo (about 100 metres away) which we claimed for our own. John had also left a great number of recommendations in the house information booklet.

The flat itself is beautifully presented, with wooden flooring, original features and very tasteful decor. The kitchen is lovely and blessed with a dishwasher. The living space was the perfect size for our stay; we were out most of the time but it was comfortable enough for us to catch our breath. The bed was very comfortable and both rooms and bathrooms a good size. The laundry was very useful. All in all the flat was very liveable, easy and comfortable. A great place to stay and I am a tad reluctant to recommend so i don't miss out the next time i visit SF. I would highly recommend a stay at John's place. He was a good host- available, helpful but at the same time giving you space.

    Response from John:

Hi: Thanks for the thoughtful review. It is much appreciated. I haven't been down to that bar on Romolo since it was one of our last basque family-style restaurants. Hope you come through again,
