Casa Carolina is an architect designed house, comfortable, very spacious and very quiet, it is tucked away on a cobbled lane right in the centre of town. The tranquil garden is full of herbs and flowers and humming birds. There is a BBQ on the 40 foot roof terrace which has beautiful views of 3 different churches and of the whole valley and mountains. It's really a delightful place to hang out.
There's Ofelia, the house manager who will let you in and take care of everything for you. This is a family house so we are leaving books and personal things for your use.
The neighbourhood is fantastic - within two blocks there are fantastic restaurants (Thai, Lebanese, Mexican, Steak House, German, Sushi, Argentinian and many more); within 2 blocks there are 2 private cinemas where you can watch cool films for 3 dollars including popcorn and a drink; plenty of yoga studios and art courses, swimming pools with thermal water, hot air ballooning, horse riding - you name it - it's here!
This house is in the centre so everything is walkable but buses pass within 2 blocks, taxis are cheap and plentiful.
The neighbourhood is very quiet yet central.
Other Things to Note
Please note that the bed in the downstairs bedroom is an old fashioned double - and for some guests used to a king size bed - the atelier sometimes proves more comfy.
Pets are welcome. We'd like guests to behave responsibly - leave it as you found it. We'd prefer you to smoke outside. Check out is midday.
Caroline was/is the most welcoming host. She planned for her housekeeper to be at the property to let us in upon our arrival- even though our flight arrived way passed regular check in time. She equipped us with all the important phone numbers, internet access, addresses of all that would make our stay relaxing and safe. Her recommendations of what to see, where to eat, and what to do were invaluable. She was/is always available anytime we had a question. The spacious central home was just as she described. Very clean, all of the amenities one could hope for. The home is walking distance to the most desirable sight seeing spots.Or, if you just want to relax at home there are beautiful views of San Miguel from the roof top terrace. It's lush and charming and very comfortable.
The host was not in country when we arrived. Ofelia let us in and showed us around. The space was as pictured and is very beautiful. The neighborhood is very quiet and the view from the terrace is fabulous. We had some minor maintenance issues that Ofelia did her best to address. Almost half of the light bulbs in the home are blown and need to be replaced. A much-needed mosquito screen was missing from the Master bed, resulting in a few sleepless nights. The Master bath faucet malfunctioned first time I tried to use it. We were forced to do all our showering in the first floor bath. Then, much to my chagrin, the owner demanded that I pay for the repairs to the faucet, when it was clearly not installed and maintained properly. (We have a lot of experience in home maintenance.) Unfortunately, we spent entirely too much of our time dealing with that issue and our stay there was ruined.
Caroline's house is charming and accurately described; it is very spacious and simply furnished with lots (lots!) of natural light. There are multiple terraces, all of which are great to spend some time relaxing. We arrived and found the house to be very clean. It is also very conveniently located, about 4 blocks from the main plaza and cathedral.
The only shortcoming about this stay was that the listing specified that breakfast was included but it was not. I trust Caroline has fixed this now.
We loved everything about our vacation in San Miguel... but the best part of it was coming home to this beautiful house every night. The garden, the terraces, the water fountain, the birds singing... it truly was one of the best airbnb experiences I've ever had. Thank you to Caz for the great communication... and to our housekeeper Ofelia for keeping everything so nice and tidy!
