And admiring is what one does as soon as he enters the garden: it is impossible to be indifferent to the beauty. A few primitive bungalows spread interestingly over an undulating terrain that ultimately overlooks a quaint stream that is as clear as the eyes of a child, and on the other side, a slice of lush raw jungle, just for you!
The five minutes into the village and its beaches are more than accounted for by the location and the knowledge that fresh cooler air dragged by river from the upper hills will arrive on time every day thus negating any need for air-conditioning and the hum and incumbent sense of enclosure.
Pascal, the host, is a charming Frenchman, well versed and knowledgable of everything local. Enjoy your stay!

The hosts were lovely and welcoming and their space if magical. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend this beautiful, artistic house.
This was definitely my best Airbnb experience. Pictures of the bungalow are very accurate. Open space without walls, nice small open kitchen. Making coffee in the morning was one of the best experiences. It's a very private and unique atmosphere, literally in the middle of the jungle. No fluorescent lights, no gym, no tourists, no swimming pool was the perfect situation for us. If you are scared of bugs, birds, bats, sounds, water, this is not the place for you. Everyone else, I HIGHLY recommend. Pascal and Karina are fantastic and very interesting people. I recommend getting to know them and arranging Karina to make a dinner. She's an incredible chef.
What an awesome time! Pascal and Carina are wonderful laid-back hosts and the bungalow is charming. The visitors in Pascal's other on-site rentals were all super cool and we had some thoroughly enjoyable moments with our hosts.
The nocturnal and early morning sounds of the jungle were a such a treat. Now that I'm back home after enjoying the bungalow's completely open floor (and wall!) plan, I just feel like I'm suffocating all the time. Staying there was truly like hitting the pause button and stepping outside the pointlessly stressful pace of my life for a while. It was so surreal I'm afraid it may have never really happened.
Of course, if you're the kind to complain that the river is dry (which simply means it's not been raining) or that there are no "real" rooms (i.e with 4 walls), or that the neighborhood is noisy, or that there are free-roaming pets, or that you have to ride the motoconcho into town, or that the shower isn't hot and pressurized, it's pretty obvious that you should book something at an oceanfront, full-service hotel for tourists who just want to enjoy the beach and the gift shops.
However, if your idea of travel is of the "when in Rome" kind, with a penchant for the rustic, simple, and authentic, then this rental will give you a close idea of what it's like to live in the Dominican Republic. It's not fancy, it's not glamorous--it's rough, real, convivial and humbling. And after a few days, you may just understand why Pascal came here on vacation 14 years ago and simply never left.
Personally, I'm bringing my kids along the next time around so they get some perspective on first-world privilege and on the correlation between contentment and simplicity, and I may just start looking at land for sale in the area...
Pascal was a really nice and charming host. We only stayed one night at his place but really enjoyed it. The pictures gave a pretty fair representation of how it actually is. Very much appreciated the unique layout Pascal has made - it has a lot of character and atmosphere. You should however be sure to adjust your expectations - it is basic and not your ordinary hotel. you will for example not have warm water and just basic kitchen utensil. We did expect that so were not disappointed and on the contrary truly appreciated our short stay. Not keast the pleasure of waking up to the beautiful forestview just outside the bedroom. Finding it sounds more difficult than it really is. Go after the Jurassic Parc hotel (appears on (website hidden) Maps) and you will find it easily.
The place is great. You can enjoy wild life in the jungle while still having all you need even the internet. Pascal was very welcoming and made our stay very pleasant. Definitely would recommend the bungalow for everyone who enjoys being close to nature.
