We had three great nights with Julie and Ben, the house was well furnished with great views of the Cote D'Azur. We felt very comfortable in their house, they make you feel like their house was our own. We were able to make our own meals a few times in their kitchen and eat on their beautiful terraces. Our room was very tidy although we did notice a few ants creep in from the deck outside - though Ben mentioned this was new and he was promptly going to deal with them. Ben and Julie have very good english and were able to give us a number of maps and guides to things to do in the area.
Though the apartment is a bus ride from Nice, being up in the hills was a relief to the chaos in Nice. However, I would suggest looking into the bus schedules before you go so you can easily plan your day. They are two minutes away from the bus line "52" which comes fairly infrequently and does not go outside of St-Laurent-du-Var. But if you walk five minutes through a small forest you can get to the bus line "54" which comes about four or five times an hour and brings you all the way to Nice. All buses are 1,50 euro and run by "Lignes D'Azur" which has schedules and a trip planner here: (website hidden).
Lastly, our day trip to Monaco was altered when the actual trains that were running were dramatically different than the schedule on SNCF's website. The trains were scheduled approximately every hour from St-Laurent-du-Var to Monaco, yet when we attempted to train there (on a weekday) it turned out there was no train between 10:30 and 14:30! The buses are a lot more reliable and leave from the Old City in Nice.
We had a great stay, Julie is a wonderful host, always friendly and very helpful and her house is so cute and beautifully decorated! We would definitely recommend staying there, especially because it's close to Cannes and Nice but without being as crowded or touristy as those cities are and even though we were there in the absolute high season (mid August), the beaches were not too full and in the evenings we got a table for dinner in most restaurants directly at the beach without needing a reservation.
Posto meraviglioso!
Grazie Julie e Benjamin!
This is an amazing place to stay, we loved it! Julie and Benjamin are very hospitable and we felt really welcome at their place. The room was nice and clean and the house had an awesome view over the village and sea, wonderful! We got the chance to dive into the french (cooking) culture thanks to julie! They were happy to give us advice about where to go, which made us discover all these places tourists wouldnt always go to. We had such a great time, would definitely come back here!
A must, must, must!! One could not ask for better hosts than Julie and Benji!
They are a great, young couple who really make you feel at home in their lovely home in the beautiful and tranquil hills. My husband and I stayed with them overnight on our way to St. Tropez and enjoyed our time thoroughly.
The home is situated atop a hill with beautiful views from a lovely terrace on which we had both dinner and breakfast. It is a short drive from Nice airport and easy access to the A8 highway and they keep a lovely garden with vegetables and olive and lemon trees.
The room was very comfortable, impeccably clean and charmingly decorated. I normally am an early riser but could not help grabbing a couple extra hours in the very comfortable bed! Julie really has a knack for keeping a great home and is an amazing cook. WIFI was fast and easily accessible.
It was such a shame that we only stayed one night but will certainly be back whenever we visit Nice. Staying with Julie and Benji feels like staying with old friends, so if you're looking for a home away from home- this is indeed it!
