Great location
95% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Discover the Treehouse of Life at the ARK. You will experience the magic of our tropical flora and fauna, and rolling rain on a metal roof in rural Puerto Rico "el campo".
This unique experience is complete with the occasional visit by bats, birds, geckos and coquis (local frogs). The jungle vibe is evident the moment you enter.

The space
This is truly a treehouse in a Flamboyan tree, planted 30 years ago for this purpose, which means it is outdoors, and 20' up with views of the jungle.
Be aware, that you will awaken to rooster songs and fall asleep to a symphony of the frogs. Ear plugs are recommended and bring Melatonin or another sleep aid if you have a hard time falling or staying asleep.
The mini kitchen has everything you need for cooking and eating lite meals. Coffee maker, microwave oven, refrigerator, and utensils.
The bathroom is more than adequate with a HOT shower, vessel sink, and compost toilet.
A new treehouse has been added nearby and voices may be heard through the foliage. Please be respectful of the other guests. And they've been asked to do the same.
Note: Puerto Ricans love their dogs and several live close by. Please contact the Property Manager if there is excessive barking.

Guest access
Guests have access to the 5 acres of grounds landscaped with brick and flagstone walkways, terraces, rock walls & various ponds. The living space is 20' up in the air accessed by 12 stairs to the lower platform and 12 stairs to the upper deck. Please do not book this listing if you have physical limitations or are afraid of heights. A back pack or small toiletry bag is the best way to carry your necessities up the stairs.

Other things to note
The Tree House of Life located in a dense 5-acre Botanical Garden/Jungle. Summers are 80-95 and rainy. Oct & Nov are buggy months, but the mosquito netting provides protection for sleeping. Winters are 65-80 and dryer, It can be chilly in the evenings and early mornings. Guests will want to bring warmer clothes like warm ups, socks, long-sleeve T-shirts or light jackets. Bug spray and long pants and long sleeves are advised for protection at dusk. A poncho for excursions is a good idea as well.
The storm season starts in June and strong weather can cause power outages.

Puerto Rico

The town of Rosario is within walking distance and sports a very delicious bakery for sweets and mouth-watering deli sandwiches.
The historic city of Hormigueros is only a 15 minute drive. The city of San German (dating back to 1511) blends colonial charm with many modern conveniences, 20 minutes. Mayaguez (city of 100,000) is home to RUM (University of Puerto Rico) and contains all the modern conveniences (mall, restaurants, shopping) one could need. Mayaguez is 20 to 30 minutes from the tree house.
The nearest beach and quaint fishing village can be found in Boye, about 25 minutes away.
