Our stay at Susan's Place was very pleasant. The compound is well kept. Our room was both comfortable and practical. During our stay the staff was friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was good. Would definitely recommend staying here when visiting Puerto Princesa.
Wi-Fi connection was poor compared to the other places we visited in the Philippines. It's adequate if you only want to receive some messages though.
This past week, I was finally able to travel to Palawan from the U.S. I've had pretty good luck with AirBnB accommodations and did I ever hit the lottery with Susan's Place in Puerto Princesa. The pictures are exactly as they are in real life and better.
Our host Bani and his family keep the place immaculate and professional. It is a great bed and breakfast place that is tucked in the back of their property. You cannot hear any street traffic at all because it feels so secluded. The facilities were wonderful. It had that nostalgic Filipino architecture yet when you step in your room, it is like a very modern hotel with really great air conditioning and bathroom.
Bani helped me arrange our tours to the Underground River as well as a firefly tour at night. He even helped me arrange the van for me to go to El Nido and back.
His contact in El Nido for my tours was Caera Tours which did a great job with the 2 day-trips.
When I got back from my 6 hour ride from El Nido to Puerto Princesa, his family was kind enough to let me stay for a couple of hours in the separate living room/lounge area while I waited before going to the airport for my flight.
Overall, if you want a place that is super clean, well located, professional and feels like home, please do stay at Susan's Place.
Their kindness and generosity speak for the kind of people they are - genuine and ready to make your stay a memorable one.
I highly recommend Susan's Place! It is wonderful and definitely worth the cost. Bani was very helpful and was able to provide anything we asked for. He even gave us a ride to the airport so we didn't have to ride in another tricycle.
This was our last stop in the Philippines and it was a treat. It was the cleanest place - sparkling clean! We were so taken care of the whole time from the pickup at the airport, to arranging our outings, and general hospitality. The grounds are lovely - walled in with security (not that the place felt unsafe, but this just helped us feel even more secure).
There is a great screened in dining room to eat breakfast (my beef tapa was excellent) and just relax during the day with comfy couches and chairs (no air conditioning but fans and the breeze kept it comfortable). The internet worked best in there as well. There was a TV and they even told us they could set up karaoke if we wanted.
The rooms were comfortable with air conditioning and the bathroom and shower were so clean - no moldy or mildewy grout anywhere. A desk, armoire and bed furnished each room with complimentary water.
It was very relaxing and near plenty of places to eat. It's a bit of a drive to get to the more touristy things to do, but easy to get to and from the airport. Easy to grab a tricycle or even walk to some main shopping/eating areas. Puerto Princesa felt very well kept up and overall safe too. All six of us traveling really enjoyed our stay.
My mother opted out of the underground river tour that was arranged for us (good prices too for our tours), and instead relaxed at the Bed and breakfast where they arranged for a great massage for her (great prices on massage services too). They took excellent care of her, considering she was feeling a little sick and just wanted to relax our last day.
