About this listing
Our Willow Glen cottage is the perfect spot for professionals visiting for work, or visiting family members. Our guests especially enjoy the open layout of the room and garden, plus extra customized things we do to make your stay a fantastic one!
Welcome! A private cottage in the heart of Silicon Valley awaits your arrival! This clean, adorable and beautifully furnished cottage has a private entrance, a patio area and plenty of open space inside and out. Inside, it's light and bright, complete with sky lights with built-in sunshades that can open or close with a touch of a button. The cottage sleeps 2-3 and is suitable for a professional, couple, or small family. The queen bed is comfortable and almost new. The couch turns into a second - and very comfortable- queen bed. All bedding and towels are kept to a high standard.
The kitchen area offers basic cooking necessities, and the kitchen appliances are in excellent condition, including a full sized refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and BBQ for whatever else you want to cook up! Note that there is not a kitchen sink, so we supply you with paper plates for those who prefer not to rinse dishes in the bathroom sink. There's also a desk for you to get some work or studying done. The bathroom is clean and spacious, with a full-size bath (soaking tub) and ample counter space and storage.
You’ll love the weather, vibe, and location of this charming community known as Willow Glen. Walk a couple blocks for Pete's Coffee, great pizza (Willow Street Grill), Jamba Juice (smoothies) and more (Thai, Indian, Japanese, Italian, etc). Within about 7 minutes by car, you’ll be in downtown San Jose or at the doorstep of several popular companies (IBM, eBay, PayPal, Adobe and more ). Are you a shopper or foodie? High-end shops (Louis Vuitton, Nordstroms, Lulu Lemon, H&M, etc) and dining (Including steak houses and live music at El Jardin Tequila Bar) can be found at Santana Row / Valley Fair Mall. You can get there by car in 10 minutes or by cab for ~$10. Other nearby facilities are San Jose State (8 minutes by car), the new 49er stadium (10 minutes away) and the San Jose Airport (~$15-25 cab fare or 15 minutes away).
Care to explore other parts of the Bay Area? Don't miss the drive to Santa Cruz (about 35 minutes away)... continue up Hwy 1 to San Francisco for BEAUTIFUL coastal day-trip. You can also drive to San Francisco directly in about 1 hour, or take the CalTrain to downtown San Francisco from downtown San Jose.
Upon arrival, you'll meet Victoria, the home owner (and good friend of mine). She commutes for work Monday-Friday, so we hope you'll understand that check-ins are welcome after 5:30pm. During the weekends, we can check-in guests as early as 3pm. We hope you'll relax, unwind, and enjoy the warm weather in this spacious retreat in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula!
Guests will have access to a private cottage and a nicely landscaped yard, which surrounds the garden. Guests have a private gate to use as their entrance and their own key to the cottage.
Street parking is on Chabrant Way. We can't guarantee parking right in front of the house, but within 1/2 a block, you'll be sure to find plenty of parking.
Interaction with Guests
Between Victoria, Mark and Amanda, we're never more than a knock of the door or phone call away.
Other Things to Note
There are a few steps from the garden on to the front porch of the cottage, as well as a gravel path, so we don't recommend this cottage for those who have trouble navigating stairs or uneven ground. Weekday check-in time is between 5:30 and 9pm. On the weekends, we can be a little more flexible. In case you are running late for your check-in time, please call Victoria or Mark, so they can plan for it.
The cottage is part of a quiet community and optimal for respectful professionals and small families. Absolutely no smoking, no partying and no drugs. The home is not set up to be wheelchair / handicap accessible. We offer street parking for our guests.
There are two beds, but the cottage is not well-suited for more than 3 adults. On occasion, we've had families of 2 adults and 2 kids stay here and everyone seems to have enough space in that situation.
The kitchen area does not have a sink or a stove, however it does have a microwave and coffee maker. So that you don't have to worry about doing dishes, we typically leave paper plates for you to use.
Because the cottage is in the back and is a little tricky to find at night, we ask that our guests arrive by 10pm. We can try to accommodate a later check-in from time to time, but it may incur a late check-in charge of $40 if we need to wake someone up :-/ We don't have a lock-box option on this listing because we want to make sure our guests get in safely, access the cottage through the right door, etc.
The main house is occupied by a nice family with 1 child and 1 small, friendly dog named Coco. Make sure to close the gate each day in case the dog goes outside.
Please enter on the side entrance by the driveway and park on the street. Pay special attention not to block any of the neighboring driveways when you park.
This cottage is light, modern and spacious. Enjoy the top-down, bottom-up window shades- which allow for optimal lighting and privacy.
Victoria and Mark's cottage is a light-filled airy space. Though only one room with a small kitchen space and bathroom, it feels larger because of the high ceilings, skylights, and many windows. It's super clean with lots of storage. Victoria stocked the refrigerator with breakfast food, water, and snacks--much appreciated. She is a wonderful owner/hostess who greeted me and showed me the apt. and gave me the key after I arrived on a late flight. Only two minor drawbacks: parking is tricky in the evening as it's a small neighborhood with limited parking and there is noise from planes in/out of SJC. However, every place in Willow Glen has some plane noise. Victoria supplies ear plugs if you need them. I felt very comfortable in the apt. and as a single woman, I also felt very safe. Finally, it is a short walk to the center of Willow Glen for wonderful coffee shops, restaurants, and ice cream places if you don't have a car. It definitely is a good place to stay in Willow Glen.
Amazing communications by Amanda, and very quick response to a minor issue - along with a handwritten note and gift as apology - As described, safe and comfy.
Amanda and Victoria were terrific and were extremely responsive to our questions before and during our stay. It was a really nice touch that they had some fruit and small snacks for us upon arrival. Location was central to local shops and restaurants and was easily accessible to local freeways. Look forward to our next stay there.
We do enjoy the days live with Victoria. She's very kind and the cottage is clean and sweet.
A lovely welcome by the owner to a cosy space perfect for what we needed. I was on a course in the area and my wife was able to relax in the cottage or explore the area, which has many good place to eat within a short walk. Much better than a stuffy hotel room and also cheaper! Great space and we would definitely stay here again!
Victoria and Mark made our first Airbnb experience a pleasurable one. Their place is very comfortable and quiet. The back yard was being landscaped and should look great for the next visitors. They provided a nice selection of breakfast items and snacks. if there is anything negative to say, it would be the parking. If you come home late, you may have to park a block or so away.

About the Host, Amanda
I work in tech and am fortunate to have lived in Europe, back when mobile technologies were first taking off. I've traveled extensively, and have grown to appreciate a good host! When not at work, I enjoy outdoor adventures, such as skiing and road biking or spending quality time with friends. I'm also investing in a start-up to help provide Airbnb hosts with new tools.
I've been a landlord for 10+ years, and I am regularly hosting out-of-town guests, especially international visitors. I firmly believe that staying in someone's home in a nice neighborhood beats a hotel hands-down ;)
Because I enjoyed the Airbnb experience so much, I've added to my portfolio by working with close friends. We've found that by working together, we can provide the best experience for our guests! Same quality, efficiency, communication process, etc. plus we've already learned all of the tips/conveniences and can apply it to multiple properties.
We look forward to welcoming you! All of our properties are well-located, quiet, charming and family-friendly with awesome hostesses and a personal touch to make your stay a pleasant one!
