Welcome! A private cottage in the heart of Silicon Valley awaits your arrival! This clean, adorable and beautifully furnished cottage has a private entrance, a patio area and plenty of open space inside and out. Inside, it's light and bright, complete with sky lights with built-in sunshades that can open or close with a touch of a button. The cottage sleeps 2-4 and is suitable for a professional, couple, or small family. The queen bed is comfortable and almost new. The couch turns into a second - and very comfortable- queen bed. All bedding and towels are brand new (updated since these photos were taken).
The kitchen area offers basic cooking necessities, and the kitchen appliances are in excellent condition, including a full sized refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and BBQ for whatever else you want to cook up! There's also a desk for you to get some work or studying done. The bathroom is clean and spacious, with a full-size bath (soaking tub) and ample counter space and storage.
You’ll love the weather, vibe, and location of this charming community known as Willow Glen. Walk a couple blocks for Pete's Coffee, great pizza (Willow Street Grill), Jamba Juice (smoothies) and more (Thai, Indian, Japanese, Italian, etc). Within about 7 minutes by car, you’ll be in downtown San Jose or at the doorstep of several popular companies (IBM, eBay, PayPal, Adobe and more ). Are you a shopper or foodie? High-end shops (Louis Vuitton, Nordstroms, Lulu Lemon, H&M, etc) and dining (Including steak houses and live music at El Jardin Tequila Bar) can be found at Santana Row / Valley Fair Mall. You can get there by car in 10 minutes or by cab for ~$10. Other nearby facilities are San Jose State (8 minutes by car), the new 49er stadium (10 minutes away) and the San Jose Airport (~$15-25 cab fare or 15 minutes away).
Care to explore other parts of the Bay Area? Don't miss the drive to Santa Cruz (about 35 minutes away)... continue up Hwy 1 to San Francisco for BEAUTIFUL coastal day-trip. You can also drive to San Francisco directly in about 1 hour, or take the CalTrain to downtown San Francisco from downtown San Jose.
Upon arrival, you'll meet Victoria, the home owner (and good friend of mine). We hope you'll relax, unwind, and enjoy the warm weather in this spacious retreat in the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula!
The cottage is part of a quiet community and optimal for respectful professionals and small families. Absolutely no smoking, no partying and no drugs. The home is not set up to be wheelchair / handicap accessible. We offer street parking for our guests.
There are two beds, but the cottage is not well-suited for more than 3 adults. On occasion, we've had families of 2 adults and 2 kids stay here and everyone seems to have enough space in that situation.
The kitchen area does not have a sink or a stove, however it does have a microwave and coffee maker. We provide a small tub so you don't have to worry about doing dishes, you can just leave them outside of your door before you leave for the day.
Because the cottage is in the back and is a little tricky to find at night, we ask that our guests arrive by 10pm. We can try to accommodate a later check-in from time to time, but it may incur a late check-in charge of $40 if we need to wake someone up :-/ We don't have a lock-box option on this listing because we want to make sure our guests get in safely, access the cottage through the right door, etc.
The main house is occupied by a nice family with 1 child and 1 small, friendly dog named Coco. Make sure to close the gate each day in case the dog goes outside.
Please enter on the side entrance by the driveway and park on the street. Pay special attention not to block any of the neighboring driveways when you park.
Victoria, Mark and Amanda were kind and generous hosts. Be advised, however, that the "kitchen" has no sink, stove or oven - only fridge and microwave. Also, street parking in this neighborhood can be difficult to find.
Victoria, Mark, and Amanda were amazing hosts. The place was amazing and easy to get to from the airport. My wife and I were in town for Wrestlemania 31 at Levi Stadium and this place fit our needs perfectly.
The breakfast area was great. When we arrived there was coffee cake, english muffins, yogurt, coffee, and oatmeal there for us. We felt very welcomed and it started off our trip on a great note. Waking up every morning and making coffee before we began our day was a real treat for us. During our trip, we drove to San Francisco and Santa Cruz and we loved coming home to this place. The bed was extremely comfy and we slept great every night.
This place was a perfect compliment for everything my wife and I did on our trip. It made our Wrestlemania experience that much better. If we are ever in San Jose again, we would stay here in a heartbeat.
Amanda was absolutely wonderful - so accommodating and easy to work with from start to finish. We stayed in one of the properties that she manages, and the host, Victoria, was so friendly and welcoming. The property was clean, bright, comfortable, and just a generally wonderful place to spend a few days. We will be back!
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Victoria, Mark, and Amanda are great! Booking the place and coordinating everything with Amanda was very easy.
Upon arrival Victoria had left some snacks and breakfast items as well as an assortment of organic baby food as she knew we were traveling with our baby. Such a nice touch that you wouldn't get in a hotel.
The place is even better than the pictures show. It's quite spacious, especially for a couple.
We came back one evening to find we had no running water because a construction crew had taken apart a pipe (no fault of the hosts). Victoria and Mark got them on the phone immediately and it was fixed within an hour.
A great location walkable to all of the restaurants in Willow Glen. Would definitely stay here again.
I've stayed at Amanda's (and Victoria's) cottage in Willow Glen multiple times and have come to think of it as a home away from home. It's bright, clean, and perfectly situated with the restaurants and cafes of Willow Glen within walking distance.
Amanda and Victoria have been thoughtful and attentive hosts. They are easy to get a hold of and respond quickly to any questions or requests.
Very cozy and lovely location with super nice hosts (Victoria & Mark) and a very engaged, helpful and nice lessor!!!
Actually the stay at Victoria's cottage was one of the best airbnb experiences I ever had.
First the communication with her friend Amanda was just perfect! Amanda is so helpful and lovely and it was very easy to coordinate with her, though we had some special requests. She just organized everything for us!
As soon as we arrived there, Mark, the owner of the cottage, was waiting for us, though he had to head to an appointment, and was patiently explaining everything to us.
The day before we left, Victoria was so nice to print out our boarding passes for us and it was very easy again to coordinate where to leave the keys. :)
The cottage itself looks exactly as on the pictures and is very spacious. It has a lot of small, lovely details and Victoria & Mark filled up the fridge with some delicious food for us.
The location of the house is great as well...nice and secure neighborhood, just a few minutes walk from a lot of restaurants and 5min drive from Wholefoods, Westfield Valley Fair/Santana Row and downtown.
I can definitely recommend the cottage and would stay there again myself! Perfect!

I work in tech and am fortunate to have lived in London for 4 years, back when mobile technologies were first taking off. I've traveled extensively, and have grown to appreciate a good host! When I'm not hard at work, (or traveling), I'm usually found engaging in outdoor adventures, such as snow skiing, water skiing, road biking, or spending quality time with friends.
I've been a landlord for 8 years, and I am regularly hosting out-of-town guests, especially international visitors. I firmly believe that staying in someone's home in a nice neighborhood beats Starwood or Hilton Hotels ;)
Because I enjoyed the Airbnb experience so much, in addition to renting my home in Menlo Park, I'm also managing my good friend Victoria's and her neighbor's guest houses in San Jose and my friend Debbie's house in Tahoe. We all used to work for the same company and have found that by working together, we can provide the best experience for our guests! Same quality, efficiency, communication process, etc. plus we've already learned all of the tips/conveniences and can apply it to multiple properties.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Bay Area or Tahoe. All five properties are well-located, quiet, charming and family-friendly with friendly hostesses and a personal touch to make your stay a pleasant one!
