Interaction with Guests
I leave the house at 630 AM to work for severely disabled kids and don't return until about 5/6 PM depending what I need to do during the afternoon. As an employee of the public school system, I don't have access to my cellphone or internet during school hours. This means I won't be able to return messages until I'm off work. I'm usually around in the evening to socialize. I go to bed between 9-11 PM usually so I can be alert for the kids during the day.
This is a great neighborhood!

I really like this place. .only minutes from sfo airport and Bart. Cute little neighborhood in itself and the people are really friendly. Everyone will chat with you and have dinner with you. If I get to come back to San Fran for another visit I would definitely consider staying here, expecially long term. Reminds me a lot of my dorm room in college. I love the bunk beds. Several people to a fun but everyone is very respectful of you. The door is always open so you won't disturb anyone if u have to come back late. Thank you for letting be apart of this big family.
Everything was great! Check-in process is smooth and neighbours are great. Price is a bit high, but looks like SF itself is pretty overpriced. Anyway, highly recommend to stay there.
Jocelyn has a good thing going at her AirBnB place: it's called relaxation and trust. I was given a warm welcome and had comfortable, simple bunk/dorm accommodation sharing with a few others. A little noisy in our room next to the kitchen but the solution is simply to join in the late evening snack and enjoy the lively and positive people who seem to be attracted to Jocelyn's house. Everyone can cook in the big kitchen and people enjoy sharing. I even got offered a lift from one of the other AirBnB-ers to the airport the next day. Yes, I will be back next time I come through SFO. Thanks everyone!
Great temp housing while looking for a longer-term apartment closer to work. Solid kitchen and bathrooms, bunks were fine, nice common area, close to BART/Caltrain and supermarkets/restaurants. But what really made the stay great was all of the other interesting and friendly people living here doing their own things.
Jocelyn and her tech house were the perfect accommodation for my recent trip to the Bay. The house is 5 minutes from the Millbrae transit center which has service to SF (BART) and the rest of the peninsula (Caltrain).
I was in the back of the house which has a 6 bunkbed room, 1 bathroom, a living room, and kitchen. The living room had two people sleeping on a futon and another one on a couch-like bed. Sharing a single bathroom was not a problem when I stayed.
I wasn't in the house much during waking hours, but I did meet some interesting people in the main house living room, and everyone was very friendly. Most visitors are 25-35 years old and stay for a few months.
These are not high-end accommodations, but are a great opportunity for frugal visitors who want to meet interesting people.

Hi! I'm Jocelyn. Besides running this hacker house I am a special needs teacher in a severe to moderate classroom, run a kids hacker day camp, and am taking computer science classes. I've taught all kinds of kids all kinds of skills, from computers to daily living to swimming. Some of my long-term goals include starting a home-based preschool, use social networking to connect professionals in the entrepreneurial fields, maker fields, and educational fields to create long-term changes in our educational system, especially for those in Early Childhood Education, those with disabilities, and those of lower Socio-Economic status communities. I've started this house to bring Hackers, Entrepreneurs, Educators and basically anyone who is interested in making the world a better place for our future generations.
