Interaction with Guests
I leave the house at 630 AM to work for severely disabled kids and don't return until about 5/6 PM depending what I need to do during the afternoon. As an employee of the public school system, I don't have access to my cellphone or internet during school hours. This means I won't be able to return messages until I'm off work. I'm usually around in the evening to socialize. I go to bed between 9-11 PM usually so I can be alert for the kids during the day.

I felt welcome at the house, Jocelyn, and the buff guy, and everyone else were really chill. I def will be staying again.
Jocelyn was an extremely informative host, who went above and beyond expectations regarding my stay at the house. The house was very easy to find, well organized and I was able to meet some very interesting entrepreneurs who shared common viewpoints and also entertained me with interesting conversation while I was there.
I would definitely stay with her again and recommend it to anyone.
Jocelyn was great and very welcoming. She has a brilliant community space with lots of wonderful folks. I enjoyed my short one-day stay and hopeful to come back for a longer time in the future.
When I first entered there, I must say my first thought was: Waw, maybe this is not what I had imagined... There were like 50 shoes scattered (not placed) near the entrance, and the smell was like... Feet :)
But you know what? Then you go to your bed and have some sleep, you do so like a baby, and then it's the sun that wakes you up in case your phone didn't work that day. Then you take a shower, you talk to the people over there, you go for a walk and know the city... And the thing is I didn't stay there much since I had to move to Palo Alto, but I tell you every day that went by, I liked it more and more and more. But of course, you'll have to be there to feel it.
Bottom line: highly recommended
Clean and comfortable room/bed. In my only night there I met some very interesting people!

About the Host, Jocelyn
Hi! I'm Jocelyn. Besides running this hacker house I am a special needs teacher in a severe to moderate classroom, run a kids hacker day camp, and am taking computer science classes. I've taught all kinds of kids all kinds of skills, from computers to daily living to swimming. Some of my long-term goals include starting a home-based preschool, use social networking to connect professionals in the entrepreneurial fields, maker fields, and educational fields to create long-term changes in our educational system, especially for those in Early Childhood Education, those with disabilities, and those of lower Socio-Economic status communities. I've started this house to bring Hackers, Entrepreneurs, Educators and basically anyone who is interested in making the world a better place for our future generations.
