This is a Communal Hacker House for traveling entrepreneurs, makers, and educators. Here you are family. Welcome home!
Read EVERYTHING before sending me a message. All rooms are co-ed with bunk beds. Each bedroom has access it's own bathroom. There are no private rooms. Our house layout is highly conducive to all work/sleep habits, whether you are a night owl or work a 9-5! However we have strict rules about quiet hours and cleaning up after using the kitchen. Lets keep it comfortable for everyone.
2 shared kitchens, carpeted floors, tranquil gardens.
I have a slight preference for teachers, entrepreneurs, non-profits, un-schoolers, school dropouts, ed-tech developers, and anyone who is deeply passionate about recreating this world into one in which future generations will thrive. Tell me what makes you unique!
Please tell me a little bit about yourself and why you are traveling. That helps me share your awesomeness with fellow travelers and our community.

Interaction with Guests
I leave the house at 630 AM to work for severely disabled kids and don't return until about 5/6 PM depending what I need to do during the afternoon. As an employee of the public school system, I don't have access to my cellphone or internet during school hours. This means I won't be able to return messages until I'm off work. I'm usually around in the evening to socialize. I go to bed between 9-11 PM usually so I can be alert for the kids during the day.

Kim is the house mom. She is a retired chef and enjoys cooking for anyone in the cottage around 5/6PM on most days. It isn't guaranteed, but if you are nice to her she will be nice to you. She also owns the house.
Don't be a dick.
Clean up after yourself.
Don't break things.
Keep showers under 20 min.
Lights out when you leave the room.
Quiet hours from 10PM to 8AM.
Don't pick the fruits, vegetables and flowers from the garden.
Amazing host to help facilitate an easy entrance into San Francisco.
Nothing but good things to say for Jocelyn.
Very kind, and very flexible with a strict bottomline (do your dishes).
She created a community friendly space that excites me to choose this listing rather than any other in this area. I have met really great characters here and have enjoyed communal excitements. I recommend this place to any newcomer to the area looking to meet new and exciting people in a relaxed and family-oriented environment.
As advertised. Dorm rooms with bunk beds. Comfortable and clean enough. Seems like there's a nice sense of community too. Exactly what I needed and expected for $50 and not far from SFO. Would stay again for a night or two.

Hi! I'm Jocelyn. Besides running this hacker house I am a special needs teacher in a severe to moderate classroom, run a kids hacker day camp, and am taking computer science classes. I've taught all kinds of kids all kinds of skills, from computers to daily living to swimming. Some of my long-term goals include starting a home-based preschool, use social networking to connect professionals in the entrepreneurial fields, maker fields, and educational fields to create long-term changes in our educational system, especially for those in Early Childhood Education, those with disabilities, and those of lower Socio-Economic status communities. I've started this house to bring Hackers, Entrepreneurs, Educators and basically anyone who is interested in making the world a better place for our future generations.
