About this listing

This is an extremely comfortable and well equipped home with stunning views and a balcony from which to enjoy them. There is a very comfy and cosy den for reading or tv. King size bed and dressing room, comfy double bedroom ensuite. Large yoga room!

The space

hello all,

Welcome to your holiday on the Sheep's Head peninsula. My West Wing is an entire home and it is all yours to enjoy a home away from home experience. I have two separate Airbnb listing at this one address.
2 large bedrooms, a large front room the "dawn ballroom" perfect for yoga dancing and large dinner parties and when the table is extended. There are two bathrooms one upstairs and a downstairs wc and shower wet room. kitchen is large and a delight to cook in. I have designed it and built it while living next door in the cottage "Rent Peace and Quiet and hillwalk" also listed on Airbnb. Guests will have a peaceful tranquil location with spectacular views and it is a delight for anyone who needs to escape the city and just breath. The neighbours are sweet and farming and fishing and arts and crafts types. There are two pubs one has a restaurant and both have really picturesque beer gardens overlooking the harbour. The village of Ahakista is rather tiny with just two pubs an art gallery/coffee shop and garden, a school and a church (all spread out) There are two other villages on the penninsula, Durrus and Kilcrohane and we are halfway between them. There are shops and cafes in both villages. Lots of hill walkers come for easy and unspoilt walking routes called the sheep's head way.

It is best to come by car as there really is very poor public transportation. I have had cycling tour guests who arrived and stayed to rest at the end of their journey.

My place is unique or special as it has a lovely character without the perfection that makes hotels and modern houses boring and soulless. I love it and am very proud of it and I hope you will love it as much as I do.

Thanks for considering my Wild Atlantic way view for your holiday destination.

We enjoyed our stay, it's a beautiful spot on the peninsula with a great bar/restaurant 20mins walk away. (Bring a flashlight for the walk home) Sheila looked after us well, we'd happily recommend.

Stunning view and great location to enjoy this small and not too touristy peninsula.

Sheila house is a beautiful place to spend some unforgettable days in that magic part of Ireland The garden, the living room, the dining area, the rooms and bathroom, all is perfect and Sheila is a fantastic person that really works to keep this a great place for families or friends to stay. The only thing to get improved, in an easy and simple way, is to have the kitchen a little more organized and practical, but all is there and for sure we recommend this place for a dream stay, as we would liberto come back one day

We were an adult family group two couples and a single visiting for a family wedding. The whole of the downstairs, apart from the vestibule, is open plan and not, in our opinion conducive for sleeping on the sofa bed so my daughter slept in the dressing room which is open to the bedroom which was used by her sister and partner. The main double room is ensuite but also Jack and Jill to the landing. There are no curtains to the upstairs outer windows so, as it was mid summer we had to improvise with towels etc. The kitchen is well equipped but everything had to be washed before use. Recommend that you get provisions en route as the nearest village, Durrus - not very large, is a car drive away. Bantry is good for shopping. We only met Sheila because she was kind enough to came over when I phoned when the power failed which meant we had no water either. Even though it was summer we needed to light the fire of an evening, you will need to purchase wood. Apart from the dining table, it was not possible for all 5 of us to sit together, there were two chairs in front of the television upstairs and a sofa in each ‘arm’ - it is ‘L’ shaped - of the living space downstairs. Excellent location for walkers and 2 pubs a mile away, only one of them serves food. Amazing views when the weather was clear, unfortunately not often.

It was a pleasure for our little family to stay at Sheilas place. It has a lot of space and all comfort needed. Sheila was a perfect host. We recommend sheepshead peninsula even better than the Ring of Kerry. Many thanks!

Hello! I'm a new mum and a teacher of Technical Drawing and Wood work. I've worked hard and put every penny I've earned towards the renovation of my cottage and the building of the Wild Atlantic Way View, It has taken ten years of every weekend and summer holiday of working/diy on my property, It has been a labour of love and I am very proud of it.

I like sea swimming, hill walking, dancing all sorts including Irish Set dancing, Salsa and Swing dancing.

I've had all kinds of house guests over the years: WWOOFers, Helpex-ers, Family and lots Friends. Now I'll add the airbnb guests to the long list of happy visitors. I lead guided hillwalks on the Sheeps Head Way.

When I was 22 I backpacked around the world, for about 2 years. Then I returned to Ireland a began my studies as a Woodwork and Technical drawing teacher.

I speak English, Irish, French,
