Cosy double room with brand new mattress in a quiet area just 2 minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The bedroom catches the morning sunlight, whilst the evening rays soak the garden.
We have two small dogs and one cat; the dogs (one Jack Russell and one Dachshund mix) are quiet (usually!), energetic and very friendly, whereas the cat just likes chilling and eating, and he is quite talkative and very loving.
Everything Cork city has to offer is within walking distance of the house, and there is a friendly tourist office close by, though we would be delighted to share our knowledge of the city with you! There are plenty of leaflets about Cork's attractions and surroundings in the bedroom too. Walking distance to both bus and train stations (each 10 minutes walk), and a 20-minute bus journey to the airport.

I love cooking, reading, relaxing with nice music, long walks and travelling. The house is beautiful, bright and spacious with loads of character and charm! Lots of original features, such as shutters on the windows, stained glass, wooden floors, high ceilings, etc. The kitchen is currently unavailable for personal use, though you can email beforehand and we may be able to accommodate you (as long as you don't mind animals bouncing around!) :)
We don't smoke during the day in the house, though we sometimes smoke in the evening in the kitchen, which is on the ground floor and the guest room is on the third floor (but if you are strongly opposed to this, please let us know and we have no problem to go outside!).
Kitchen strictly unavailable, unless by pre-arrangement!
Interaction with Guests
PLEASE NOTE: Maité's lovely mother, Karin, will be minding the house from April - August 2015, and she is sure to make your stay as pleasant as possible!
Really friendly area, lots of old men with dogs pottering around! Great view of Cork from top of the hill.
The house is situated just a 3-minute walk from the town centre; a 7-minute walk to Kent station (train station) and a 5-minute walk to Parnell Place bus station. The airport is about a 20-minute taxi ride (costs about 14euro).
For full directions, please see your "itinerary" once a reservation is confirmed.
Other Things to Note
PLEASE NOTE: Maité's lovely mother, Karin, will be minding the house from April - August 2015.
Quiet after 11pm on weekdays please!
Let us know the day before if you want breakfast :) I will leave it out for you in the study room. Help yourself to cereal, etc. in the study room.
Please TURN OFF the heating in your room when you are out.
If you would like to use the kitchen, please let us know in advance as we hang out there most of the time!
Please give us a check-in time with a maximum error of one hour, so we can organise ourselves! :)
Also - VERY important - Please close the front door PROPERLY when entering or leaving, as it opens on to the street and I would be worried about the cats!
Karin is such an interesting Person to talk to and has such a great sense of humour. The pets were simply adorable, we felt in love immediately... The house is located in an area with great pubs and cafes. It's an easy 5-10 Min walk to the City Center and the bus station.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Maite and her mother Karin's place. Karin made us feel completely at home. She provided us with organic fruit each day and was always available to help with any need or question. We loved staying there and will definitely do so again.
Sehr schönes Zimmer mit tollen Blick auf Cork. Sehr nette Gastgeber, zentrale Lage.
Lovely place to stay. I was made to feel extremely welcome by Karin and every single pet :) Beautiful house and garden, wish I could've stayed longer and would definitely recommend this place!
Karin was so kind and communicative! My plane was delayed and her son waited up until 11pm to let me in. The house is adorable, the garden outside is so nice! The room was cozy (the bed so comfortable!). I had a good wifi connection and was able to work from the breakfast room with a great view of Cork and Shandon tower. The location was very close to the City Center and to the bus that will take you directly to Blarney Castle. My only complaint was that it was very cold and I couldn't figure out the heat (I'm sure Karin would have helped if it wasn't too late at night before I'd realized and I'd asked!) but I found an extra blanket in the closet. :) The puppies were so cute too, it was nice to have them around. I had everything I needed for the two nights I was there - thank you Karin!!!!
Cork is a very energetic city. Karin greeted us warmly and made us feel at home. Our place was very nice with the top floor being only for our use. We had a private bathroom and also a study to eat breakfast in. The study had a window that overlooked the city; very pleasant to look out of in the mornings as you get ready to go out. Close to Blarney Castle (15min drive), and nice pubs walking distance to the flat. We had a lovely stay here.
I felt very comfortable at Maités home. Maité was on a trip but I stayed there with her wonderful mother Karin and the lovely pets. Karin is a very warm-hearted, funny and everytime helpful person. And the dog Bobby made me smile every day :)
The house garden and the view was amazing, especially on sunny days. The house was also very central so that I could walk to all places very easily.
Thank you for the beautiful stay and laughing.

About the Host, Maité And Karin (Mother - Daughter Duo)
Please note: For some months this summer, I will be away and my delightful mum, Karin, will be minding the house, animals, BnB and garden; she is lovely and will make ensure that you have as pleasant a stay as possible!
I am a 26-year old currently doing a Masters in International Public Policy and Diplomacy; I love gardening, sustainable living, animals (both dogs are rescues), learning, reading, travelling (especially walking and/or camping trips), cooking and enjoying barbecues in the garden during summer.
I love learning from others, and that is one of the things I like about hosting on AirBnB - hearing other experiences, stories, etc...makes me feel like I am travelling from the comfort of my own home!
