I leave that up to my guests. Sometimes I never get to meet the guests other times we chat every day. I consider myself friendly but conscious of others privacy.

John has a very cute place with unique decorations & beautiful garden & patio area in the rear to relax. Very clean & with well stocked pantry & refrigerator. Great neighborhood of beautiful homes with restaurants within walking distance & short drive to downtown. John was especially responsive & helpful. We all enjoyed our stay & only wished we could have stayed longer.
John was a great host! The hospitality was awesome! John and his family made me feel welcome and at home. The apartment is nice clean and cosy. I would definitely stay there again.
My recent stay at John's apartment was an absolute pleasure. I was in San Diego for the first time for a conference and joined by a colleague. Not only was the apartment in a perfect location for exploring San Diego and had everything we needed (and then some!), John was an excellent host who went above and beyond. With my colleague arriving earlier than I, John went and picked her up from the airport; a truly kind gesture that was a big help. John ensured that the apartment was clean and that we had everything we needed and even went so far as to give tips on places to eat, things to see, and how to get around. The apartment is in the beautiful Hillcrest neighborhood and there were all sorts of lovely cafes and shops, yet the neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. I will definitely be planning another stay on future visits to San Diego!
My teenage son and I were in San Diego for a few days before a chess tournament, and we were so lucky to find John's cottage apartment on airbnb. While I was up for sightseeing, my son wanted to just cook at home and hang out, and this was the perfect place for relaxing, watching a movie and cooking in. The outside garden space is magical. The hummingbirds were an unexpected bonus. The Hillcrest neighborhood is cool! This apartment is a bit more weathered than other airbnb places where we have stayed, but that only added to its charm. We would love to stay here again. It is a perfect location for a couple's escape, a girl's weekend, a solo retreat or a few bonding days for a mother and her son. Thank you John!!!!!
Our stay was great. The apartment is very cozy with a good kitchen and great eating area. A great sunny yard with sitting area. John was very hospitable and always there when we needed him. He likes to give guests their room as well. We enjoyed chatting to him from time to time. The area is one of the best in San Diego.Very close to parks, restaurants and super markets. All in all a great stay and will always book this place when we go to San Diego.
I enjoyed all of February in John's Hillcrest apartment.
The place is a little more worn than the pictures show but my overall experience was great. The host and his wife, Nellie, are fantastic! The location is unbeatable; parking is free and available.
This is a way better value than renting a hotel room.
John was a great host and the location was excellent. The apartment has lots of facilities and we even did our laundry and put it out to dry in the San Diego sun! Thanks John.
The location is the best. We would stay there again! John is especially friendly and accomodating!
We had a wonderful stay! The apartment was very tidy, quaint, and comfortable. Fluffy towels, reliable wifi and a kitchen with utensils, pots and pans, etc for cooking awaited us. Great location with close proximity to downtown, airport, Littly Italy, and Hillcrest neighborhoods. We had a rental car but used it very sparingly, as a 20 minute walk could get us anywhere we wanted to go. John was very accommodating. I would be thrilled to re-book at this location during another trip to San Diego.
John's apartment is really perfect for a short or even longer-term stay in San Diego. It's close to Hillcrest, which is a great neighborhood to explore on foot, and it's easy to get to everywhere else. The apartment itself was in good condition and clean, with a few really homey amenities that made me feel welcome. The neighborhood is pretty quiet and feels safe. I also brought my small, senior dog, and he was quite comfortable there as well.
