The park also features a free boat ramp, clean bathrooms, and year-round access to scenic hiking and mountain biking trails at Brier Recreation Area. The lake is perfect for fishing, with abundant bass, crappie, walleye, bluegill, trout, and catfish—so don’t forget your poles and favorite bait! Be sure to check the special fishing regulations before casting your line.

The closest boat ramp to the house is 2 minutes away at the Nolin Dam. You will need to pay a small access fee to use this.

Moutardier Marina and Wax Marina are the closest on-lake spots offering boat rentals, including both pontoon boats and jet skis. Be sure to check their websites or social media for up-to-date information on seasonal hours and availability.

Mammoth Cave Access:
The Mammoth Cave National Park Visitor Center is just 13 miles from the house if the Green River Ferry is operating (please check the ferry status on the National Park website before you head out). If the ferry isn’t available, you can take a scenic 30-mile drive through Brownsville to reach the park. Mammoth Cave National Park is home to the WORLD’S LONGEST underground cave system and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site! Be sure to book a tour ahead of time to immerse yourself in the fascinating history, geology, and exploration of these incredible caves. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Groceries:
The house is nestled in a remote location, so it’s a good idea to bring your food and beverages with you, with the option to supplement at nearby stores if needed.

~ DG Market is the closest, located just minutes away. This newer, convenient market offers most of the basic provisions you may need, making it perfect for a quick stop if you run out of something.
~ Cee Bee Food Store in Brownsville is about 15 minutes south, a great option if you’ve spent the day at Mammoth Cave National Park and are heading back.
~ Walmart and Save-a-Lot in Leitchfield, roughly 30 minutes north, are larger stores with a wider selection for those looking to stock up on essentials.
~ If you're coming from the south, Bowling Green is about 40 miles away and has plenty of big-box stores to choose from, offering an even broader selection.

The deck stairs are steep so please be sure to watch your step. We have provided you with a baby gate and suggest putting it here if you are worried about your little ones or pets.

Edmonson County, where the Dam* Dam House is located, is a dry country which means alcohol is not sold here. If you wish to drink, we suggest you purchase your beverages before arriving. Nolin River Lake is a stunning reservoir that changes in size throughout the year, ranging from 2,890 acres (11.7 km²) in the winter to 5,795 acres (23.45 km²) during the summer months. If you’re visiting in the winter, please be aware that the lake reaches its winter pool levels, which can leave the lakebed exposed. This unique feature offers an exciting opportunity to explore the area on foot and discover the hidden parts of the lake! However, fishing and swimming are best enjoyed once the lake reaches its summer pool, typically by late April or early May. The lake begins to draw down to winter pool levels by mid-October, so keep that in mind when planning your visit.

Please keep in mind that you’re staying in a peaceful, rural setting surrounded by nature, which is part of what makes this place so wonderful. With this peaceful environment comes the occasional sighting of local wildlife—whether it's a deer, bunny, field mouse, bird, or even a reptile or insect. We want to assure you that we take steps to manage this natural environment by investing in regular pest control services, doing our best to minimize any issues that can arise from being in the countryside. Enjoy the charm of nature, knowing we've got you covered!

Our home is pet friendly, and we love hosting guests with furry companions. The house is thoroughly cleaned between stays; however, guests with allergies should note that pets have been in the home.

There is currently some construction happening in the surrounding area. You should expect to hear some noise.

Lastly, please note that lawn care is scheduled at the house every Tuesday, so the lawn care team may be on site during your stay. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your hosts.

Hello everyone and welcome to our place! I am your host, Morgan! I went to college at Miami of Ohio, where I played Division 1 field hockey with my co-host Taylor for 5 years. After graduating and retiring from our athletic careers, we started looking for our next adventure. Because of our love for travel, we decided to start our own short-term rental company. We had so much fun designing and putting these stays together for you. We hope you feel at home :)
