* 126 Mansion
Enjoy an antique atmosphere in the heart of culture and art in downtown Seoul. Be our guest and make yourself at home. Make your travels in Korea more special than ever!
126 Mansion is a Guesthouse which is located in Palpan-dong(aka Samchung-dong), the centre of culture and art, in downtown Seoul.
Palpan-dong is just around the corner from Gyungbokgung, the first royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. This place has been at the very centre of the Capital city of Korea since the old days of the royal dynasty; in this area, eight Panseos(Ministers of the Joseon Dynasty) used to reside here hence where Palpan-dong(an eight-Panseos’ village) got its name.
Within a 3-minute walk from our Guesthouse, you can see a variety of galleries, shops and cafes in a busy street. Han-ok Maeul (Korea’s traditional house village) is within a 10-minute walk. It is about 5 to 30 minute walk to Seoul’s most famous historic sites such as Gyungbokgung, Changdukgung, and Deoksugung. Also you can get to Myung-dong, Dongdaemun and Namdaemun markets, and Gwanghwamun square.
Equally, we are proud of the picturesque surroundings of the 126 Mansion. Just beside our Guesthouse, there is a beautiful promenade of the stone wall of Gyungbokgung leading to Cheongwa-dae (the Blue House).
126 Mansion is a high-class Guesthouse providing comfortable, spacious living. Our guest house is situated with a nice view so that you can see Gyungbokgung and Cheongwadae. Guests can also expect excellent service in our relaxing dining room and experience a fine example of modern day living in a traditional space.

My mum and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves during our stay in Seoul, and a huge part of it was due to the warmth and friendliness of our host Hyunchung and her family, combined with the bohemian charm of 126 Mansion in Samcheong-dong!
126mansion is located in a quiet little cul-de-sac, but yet extremely safe as it is right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace where there are constantly guards day and night, and also just steps away from the Samcheong-dong police station. At the same time, it is in conveniently located in famous Samcheong-dong, with its galore of shops, cafes, teahouses and traditional hanoks. You will be so utterly distracted visually (and gastronomically) just wandering around the neighbourhood on the way to Anguk subway station.
We loved 126mansion's charming facade as it is lit with fairy lights during the night and the view of the ground floor cafe just makes this B&B look so welcoming after a day of sore legs from travelling around Seoul.
As the weather was freezing cold during our trip, my mum and I -enjoyed our regular morning and night routine snuggling in our cozy beds in our korean-styled room, with a rare view overlooking the Gyeongbokgung Palace. IMPORTANTLY, we will never forget the hearty, healthy and delicious korean breakfast spread which replaced our need for any physical alarm clock to get us up and going every morning. My mum still raves about it now :)
Finally, how can we forget the friendliness and spunkiness of our host family! I will also miss their little dog who comes near us every time we are eating our breakfast!
In summary, I really recommend staying at 126mansion above the typical type of hotels in Myeong-dong, etc. So much more flavour, and even if you don't travel around Seoul for whatever reason, it's fun just relaxing in the house and cafe, reading the books, drawing, playing with the dog and talking to the family.
To Hyunchung and family - Thanks for all the fun (albeit short) conversations we had.You guys had so much to share about Korea but unfortunately we couldn't take it on as it was a last minute trip before my new job started, my mum was really cold (plus we fell sick along the way!), and hence our goal was just to have a chillax no-schedule type of holiday this time. I plan to visit Korea again next year and if I do, will definitely look for you guys again to tap your insights on off the beaten track in Seoul!!! Till next time :)
Helpful hosts, great location! :) Room was a tad small though.
Breakfast (Korean spread) was really good.
126 mansion is truly a heartwarming and cozy place to live in! They whole family are really nice and friendly. Breakfast daily was awesome, especially the korean breakfast. The area is kind of artsy, so you can walk around the neighborhood to check out some cool stuff! Will come back to 126 mansion the next time round!
Great charming place with lovely host. It is really well located.
Breakfast is good: continental or korean! Internet works fine.
I would go again if I have a chance.
This place is a real "down home" experience. Forget a hotel and stay here. Awesome experience. Super friendly and their breakfast is awesome. After we stayed here, we moved to a traditional guesthouse (because our conference paid for it); it wasn't as comfortable & cozy as this place. The location is beautiful as well, very awesome neighbourhood brimming with coffee houses and shops. Great food around the area. We will come back and stay here again. Guaranteed.
We stayed with Hyunchung for a few days. What a great experience! We loved the intimate and comfortable environment Hyunchung has created in a really cool part of Seoul. Hyunchung was so accomodating, the room was very comfortable and warm during the cold winter in Seoul, and the food was fantastic. There is nothing like a home-cooked Korean meal! We would highly recommend staying here.
What a lovely place to stay in Seoul! Great location where lots of sights are within walking distance. Quiet, quaint, and quality people.
The room was CLEAN, had working A/C and TV and was just right for one person. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends!

Hello, greetings from 126Mansion in Seoul.
My two sisters and I have all worked in the art industry; my older sister is a clothing designer, my younger sister likes to paint although she is not a professional painter; and interestingly some of her better paintings are on display in our house. She truly has many gifts, she is a barista and also cooks very well. She runs our coffee shop on the first floor. Finally, as for me, I have worked in the Korean film industry.
In 2009, on one fine autumn day, we found this house (126Mansion) in a wonderful area. As soon as seeing it, we fell in love with it. At the time, the location of our house had been empty for some time and was more like a ghost house. However, we could imagine just how lovely could be if we renovated it. Immediately we loved the neighborhood, it’s very historical and also very modern and safe, clean, and no large apartments, and of course lots of good places in within walking distance. This area is known as Samcheong - dong. We decided to make this house a home for travellers, opening up this house to and for people from all over the world.
Generally speaking, people who visit Seoul they think Seoul is kind of shoppers paradise and that’s all, and not really so historical, not so cultural, but it’s not true. If you would stay this area, you will be able to discover many amazing points of interest. I really hope people who visit Seoul experience the various sides of Seoul, and have a true traveler’s delight.
We have great passion for communicating with new people, especially who are curious about Seoul, and Korea. Upon your arrival here in our home we can recommend some really nice places, ones not really known as traditional tourists’ spots. That would be our pleasure. Please, don’t hesitate to talk to us.
Lastly, I want to introduce to you my mom. She is an older lady but even in this chapter of her life, still very passionate and healthy, and of course a great cook. Early in the morning she prepares a Korean breakfast for our guests like you. I am so proud of my mom and her food. If you would like to try Korean food, please don’t miss my mom’s food.
We are looking forward to meeting you, all of you wonderful travelers from all over the world.
