* 126 Mansion
Enjoy an antique atmosphere in the heart of culture and art in downtown Seoul. Be our guest and make yourself at home. Make your travels in Korea more special than ever!
126 Mansion is a Guesthouse which is located in Palpan-dong(aka Samchung-dong), the centre of culture and art, in downtown Seoul.
Palpan-dong is just around the corner from Gyungbokgung, the first royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. This place has been at the very centre of the Capital city of Korea since the old days of the royal dynasty; in this area, eight Panseos(Ministers of the Joseon Dynasty) used to reside here hence where Palpan-dong(an eight-Panseos’ village) got its name.
Within a 3-minute walk from our Guesthouse, you can see a variety of galleries, shops and cafes in a busy street. Han-ok Maeul (Korea’s traditional house village) is within a 10-minute walk. It is about 5 to 30 minute walk to Seoul’s most famous historic sites such as Gyungbokgung, Changdukgung, and Deoksugung. Also you can get to Myung-dong, Dongdaemun and Namdaemun markets, and Gwanghwamun square.
Equally, we are proud of the picturesque surroundings of the 126 Mansion. Just beside our Guesthouse, there is a beautiful promenade of the stone wall of Gyungbokgung leading to Cheongwa-dae (the Blue House).
126 Mansion is a high-class Guesthouse providing comfortable, spacious living. Our guest house is situated with a nice view so that you can see Gyungbokgung and Cheongwadae. Guests can also expect excellent service in our relaxing dining room and experience a fine example of modern day living in a traditional space.
All of our rooms are equipped with Korean traditional ondol. (an under-floor heating system), Each room also has an en-suite bathroom.
Breakfast is included.
We will welcome you with exclusive hospitality.
Great charming place with lovely host. It is really well located.
Breakfast is good: continental or korean! Internet works fine.
I would go again if I have a chance.
This place is a real "down home" experience. Forget a hotel and stay here. Awesome experience. Super friendly and their breakfast is awesome. After we stayed here, we moved to a traditional guesthouse (because our conference paid for it); it wasn't as comfortable & cozy as this place. The location is beautiful as well, very awesome neighbourhood brimming with coffee houses and shops. Great food around the area. We will come back and stay here again. Guaranteed.
We stayed with Hyunchung for a few days. What a great experience! We loved the intimate and comfortable environment Hyunchung has created in a really cool part of Seoul. Hyunchung was so accomodating, the room was very comfortable and warm during the cold winter in Seoul, and the food was fantastic. There is nothing like a home-cooked Korean meal! We would highly recommend staying here.
What a lovely place to stay in Seoul! Great location where lots of sights are within walking distance. Quiet, quaint, and quality people.
The room was CLEAN, had working A/C and TV and was just right for one person. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends!
Hyunchung and her family have created an extraordinary place with their 126 mansion and cafe Soul Kitchen, where guests getting friends the way we all look for. We had wonderful days there over christmas and new year 2012. We were invited and integrated to family and friends. Since Hyunchung has the very special gift to bring really nice and interesting people together and let them feel happy and at home.
The location of the place couldn't better be, in the middle of Bukchon, one of the old districts in the heart of Seoul with galeries, little shops and a lot of cafes, just in walking distant to two of the famous palaces (great areas with park) and the National Folk Museum the street above and a lot more to discover. A bus station is nearby and the metro 15 min in a nice walk. Hyunchung and her sisters will help you in many ways, with tips and information where to go, even show you the way. We loved our room there, looking to the park of Gyungbokgung and enjoying the ondol (the floor heating) since Seoul was really cold, but with the sun shining nearly all days. We recommend the korean breakfast to all (the western kind is also very tasty if you insist in your habits), it's a wonderful start for a day in this exciting city. Hyunchung thanks for your warm hospitality and your kind friendship, and if we are lucky to come back to Seoul, we will be glad to stay at 126 mansion again.
Staying at 126 Mansion was great. The hosts were very fun to talk with and the food and drink were wonderful. It is a little far from the subway, but not far enough to be a big deal. We loved how close it was to so many things. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Seoul.
We stayed in Seoul for one week September 2011.
Not being familiar with the layout of Seoul, we were looking for a location that was central and interesting. 125 Mansion is both.
Location: near the blue house, many embassies, bukchon village and next to the gyeongbokgung palace. Close to the metro (~15 min walk) and many buses. Very close to Insadong.
126 Mansion: a lovely 2-story building (first floor is kitchen/dining/gallery) with bedrooms on the second floor. The room we stayed in, was a bit on the small side but perfect for our needs: we were in Seoul to go sightseeing and visit family, so not a lot of time was spent in the room. There were small amenities (coffee, tea, lotions) available for guests. Breakfast was an option of American/Western (eggs + bacon) or Koean breakfast. Both options are excellent.
Internet access available to guests was very convenient.
I think the best part of the visit was how welcome we felt while we were staying at 126 mansion. Hyunchung and her sisters were very helpful -- helping with taxis, finding local stores, introducing us to makali!
When we left, I felt like we were leaving friends Will definitely stay again if we have a chance to visit Korea.
One note about the bathrooms: I read another review that mentioned the Korean style bathroom (I had no idea about this until visiting Korea) so I was prepared -- all other bathrooms in Korea (that we saw) were some iteration of this style
