A very large one bedroom Victorian apartment with wooden floors and heaps of style, 60m 2
Comfortably fits a couple, and is a short walk from trendy areas of Portobello and Westfield entertainment and shopping, three tube lines, train and bus.
Ground floor of a Victorian villa, a very large, airy and sunny this apartment. It has one double bedroom with a very large double bed, spacious living room and separate kitchen. The place is within walking distance from great shopping, on a quiet residential street in Shepherds Bush, just off Goldhawk Road. There is a lovely neighbourhood with cafes and shops just across the road - Hammersmith Grove.
The flat is also not far from Holland Park shops and cafes (15-20 min walk max) and 20-25 min walk to Portobello Road.
This is zone 2, next to three (3) tube stations, Westfield shopping, outdoor market within 5 min walk, etc. Nearest tube: Goldhawk road Hammersmith & City + Circle Line (2-3 min), Shepherds Bush Central line (7-10 min).
Dishwasher, washer/dryer, cooker (gas stove and oven), all kitchen stuff, super juicer, french press, towels and bedlinen, hairdryer and all other perks of a normal home.
Minimalistic interior with antique pieces, all necessary things, plenty of storage, heating / hot water, large fridge/freezer. The flat has a lot of books, fine wine glasses and generally fairly nice things here and there, as it is my home, and I would appreciate if you treat it as such. There is usually some ground coffee and tea.
Unlimited broadband and WiFi available throughout. Plus if you have an Iphone or Ipod - Bowers and Wilkins mini zeppelin is at your disposal with a fantastic sound.
Please note though, that if you find nice cosmetic products, scented candles or wine in the cupboards, this, perhaps, means they are mine. Should you chose to use or consume these, please replace with same products. I hope you understand that after a long trip away we all like to find things we left home intact and waiting for us.
The flat does not have a TV, sorry. Do you really need it?
It is not suitable for two people wanting to share, but rather for a couple or a single person. There is only one, but very large bed (super King size), and the sofa is not really made for sleeping.
As the place has old victorian wood floor the only thing I ask is to remove heavy shoes (or high heels) indoors after 9 pm, as the sound travels rather well to my downstairs neighbors. Please do recycle (special bags) and if you do need something else during your stay - do ask, I am very happy to help.
There are some personal things left in a wardrobe and chests, as this is my home. These are off bounds. Please use what you find in the kitchen, but do be kind and replace particular upmarket essentials when you leave with similar products. I normally leave guest soaps, shampoos and other little bits in a glass jar in the bathroom. Any full size products are personal, should you come across them.
Interaction with Guests
I am always available on email and phone. Alas, not always in your time zone.
You can easily walk to Holland Park (just over the roundabout) and enjoy the tranquil green space or go for a run, go have coffee or lunch around Holland Park area (15-20 min walk max) or even get to Portobello on foot. If you chose to stay very locally - crossing the road to Hammersmith Grove will get you to some nice cafes (in about 5 minutes), like Raoul's deli and cafe, for example, the Grove restaurant and many more. There is a yoga studio as well. Should you wish to shop till you drop - within 10 minutes walk is a Westfield shopping centre, with a mind-blowing array of cafes, bars and restaurants, plus a great number of shops, a cinema and a great deal more. Right next to us is a Shepherds Bush market, an open air affair for fresh veggies and fruit and some ethnic fair. A great number of supermarkets and ethnic shops and cafes on both Goldhawk road and Uxbridge road. Uxbridge road (just at the other end of Devonport Road, where you are) has great Middle Eastern shops that always have fantastic selection of fruit and veg on offer, better than Shepherds Bush market. There are a few ok Thai places, and other ethnic restaurants. Best Thai I use is in Notting Hill Gate, called Thai Break. Unfortunately they don't do deliveries, but the food is authentic Bangkok Thai. Polpo in Notting Hill Gate is also fantastic. But Westfield shopping centre offers a huge variety of good restaurants, alas, in a more "mall" setting.
You are right in the middle of great transport connections: Circle, District and Hammersmith and City line station (Goldhawk road) is within 3-4 min walk, Central line *Shepherds Bush - 10 min walk. There are a number of buses outside the house as well.
Other Things to Note
Please not two knobs on the cooker come off every now and then: sadly, these can not be fixed permanently, but the cooker and oven work fine. I have been told that to fix the knobs I would need to replace the cooker entirely. We're working on it:)
If you stay longer than a week and require a cleaner - please let me know, this could be arranged for a small additional fee (paid directly to the cleaner)
Please leave the place as neat as you found it.
Stayed in this flat for 10 days in February 2015. Olga was wonderful! She was very prompt with reply emails and the property was exactly as it is shown on the site. Aside from a couple of minor glitches when I arrived in the flat, all was great. There was never a shortage of hot water and the flat was warm and cozy...never a problem with the internet. Love the decor and the high ceilings. The bedroom is nice and large as is the living room. The bathroom is updated with a wonderful shower head and a heated (email hidden) least I think so.
Occasionally, you can hear the upstairs tenants leaving in early morning as they leave but it was never an issue.
It really was a wonderful stay and I will definitely go back.
This is a very well located flat. Just a brief walk to Goldhawk Road tube station and a 10 minute walk to Shepherd's Bush tube station and the Westfield Shopping centre. Thee are several great restaurants over towards Shepherd's Bush.
Thank you so much, Rider!
The bathtub is not heated, though:) It does feel warm, I think, somehow out of its own accord. Also great thanks for leaving the flat neat and clean, as I got home literally a day after you left. Much appreciated!
I am very glad you enjoyed your stay, and hope you will come back to London one day soon.
Olga was an amazing host. On VERY short notice she arranged to have the flat cleaned and ready for us to check in. During our stay she was always easy to reach and responded quickly to quires.
As advertised the flat was spacious, warm and well-fitted - benefiting from the essential combo of an excellent bath and very comfortable bed! It is located in a quite but well connected neighbourhood, close to the action of Shepherd's Bush. Very easy to get around London from here.
Overall had a fantastic stay, and really appreciated Olga's attention as host. Would certainly stay again in future.
The reservation was canceled 12 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The apartment was what I expected from the description and had everything I needed. It's also well located for the tube (Goldhawk Road, Shepherd's Bush to name a few) and the Westfield shopping centre. Olga was overseas when I stayed so I didn't get to meet here but she was very helpful and responded quickly to any enquiries I had.
Although we weren't able to meet in person, Olga was a fantastic host. She was always very quick to answer texts and emails and obviously takes her role as a host seriously. Her flat was perfect for one person or a couple, my sister came to stay for a few days and there was plenty of space. She left plenty of storage and hanging space for me and lots of towels to use. She also left some toiletries and plenty of extra household items so that I didn't run out. The flat gets lots of natural light and is not too hot in the summer, also very close to goldhawk tube and lots of buses. I would definitely recommend Olga's flat for a stay in London!
Olga's place is very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathroom has just recently been refurbished and is absolutely beautiful.
The location is ideal for people visiting London (or people needing temporary accommodation like us) with easy access to central & hammersmith lines, buses and overground.
Lots of good ethnics restaurants in the neighbourhood and nice cafe (hummingbird, Liz cafe, Raoul's) and craft beer places (Brewdog).
Olga was overseas when we stayed at her place so we didn't get to meet her. She was very quick to respond to our email, super friendly and efficient. The perfect host!
I stayed in this lovely flat for a month during autumn/winter. I can certainly concur with other reviews that it is really spacious, stylish (Olga has great taste), well-located (choice of three different tube stations) and utterly warm and cosy. Olga was based overseas during our communications but she was extremely fast at responding to emails and willing to telephone/(website hidden) if necessary. The flat was really clean and fairly well stocked with what I needed. The bathroom shower is old-style (which I think you can see in the photos), which means that it's more suitable for people who take baths -- the shower attachment has to be hand-held, it's not attached to a wall. My only other issue was that I couldn't use the oven (the knobs were missing) and this was not relayed to me until after I'd made the booking. The gas hobs worked fine but I did miss being able to bake/roast in an oven. But I'm sure if I'd really wanted it fixed, then Olga would have done whatever was necessary to make my stay an unreservedly happy one. I don't think I could've found a nicer, more welcoming host, even though we never met.
I live between London and Los Angeles and travel a lot. For over ten years I have been renting my apartment during the times when I am not there. Mostly for a long(ish) term rental. I am careful and selective about whom I rent to, as this is my home, and I expect people to treat it as such.
