Neighborhood highlights

Castle Street Arts District

Coffee, wine, shopping, farm-to-table fare and more can be found in Wilmington’s Castle Street Arts District, located just a few blocks away from downtown Wilmington. When you stroll down Castle Street, pop into Gravity Records to find a treasured vinyl and hear sounds from local acts. Or eat at the original farm-to-table spot in Wilmington, Rx Chicken & Oysters. Owner James Doss strives to offer his guests seasonally inspired, ingredient-driven Southern cuisine. Find traditional Southern comfort food and hospitality at On Thyme Restaurant. Indulge in the Cajun Shrimp Po'boy or the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich or opt for the local favorite OMG fish sandwich. Castle Street Burger. Savor Spanish and Italian influences with traditional New Orleans flare at the district's newest restaurant, Olivero. Helmed by Chef Sunny Gerhart, a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for "Best Chef Southeast," the restaurant features fresh seasonal ingredients, locally sourced seafood and more.

The neighborhood is also home to several chic boutiques. Find elegance and style at Jess James + Co, a vintage boutique curated by local style editor and fashion consultant Jess James. Her vintage finds range from clothing to accessories to collectibles. Or stop by the socially conscious Carmin Black. Founded by siblings, the boutique pairs Carmin’s elevated fashion sense and Christian’s gritty, rock ’n’ roll surfer vibe with a shared passion to give back. For every product purchased, seven meals are provided for a child in need.
