Interaction with Guests
I enjoy getting to know people who stay with me, but I also completely respect everyone's privacy and common sense abounds in the flat. I will orientate you to the flat and the neighborhood by providing you with my list of favorite NYC haunts including restaurants, places to shop, best vintage spots, cultural destinations and secret parks!
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Ridgewood is a truly down to earth neighborhood on the frontier between Brooklyn and Queens with a lively mix of immigrants, long-time locals and young creative types. The street is quiet and tree-lined. An interesting fact is that this was once Ella Fitzgerald's old neighborhood. There is a yoga+zumba+krav maga studio a block away (brownie points) in addition to a neighborhood park 4 min away called Grover Cleveland Park. Ask me about the historically preserved street that looks like 1922 throwback!
Check out my airbnb Guidebook for more neighborhood spots!

Getting Around Locally: 10 min walk to either the M at Seneca or L at Dekalb and the train ride takes you into Manhattan within 20 min and Bushwick and WIlliamsburg are right next door. There is also the B38 bus located 1.5 block away from the flat that takes you to Downtown Brooklyn. Essentially, you get the best of both worlds: close access to the hustle 'n bustle of Manhattan and a quiet nest to get a sound night of sleep. Can't get any better!

My time spent here was amazing. I had never been abroad on my own before and was extremely worried about how things would turn out- Beatrice was very easy to stay in contact with and very concise with organisation which made my transition super smooth.
I never experience any problems whilst staying here and even if I did Beatrice was not too far away that she couldn't help!
I spent around 90% of my time in Manhattan and Bedford and the commute was actually really good compared to what some of my friends had to travel.. The L train is a luxury in hindsight even if some mornings it doesn't feel like it!
The apartment is as shown in the pictures- the room I stayed in was very large and the kitchen/bathroom areas were really big too!
Beatrice is a warm, kind and friendly person and it was such a pleasure to meet her- I'm glad that I chose to start my American adventure here.
Definitely check it out!
Everything was great. Beatrice was really busy moving her things to a new place but still she was able and willing to talk, recommend and help in every possible way. I wish her the best of luck for her future projects.
I stayed with Beatrice for three months, and Beatrice made my first experience visiting and living in NYC perfect. She was a warm, kind and friendly host, who was always attentive and considerate of my space and needs, and always made me feel comfortable and happy living in her home. There was always plenty of space in the fridge and bathroom for my things, and my room was cosy and clean. The L line is about a 10 to 15 minute walk away and only took me 25 minutes on my morning commute to central Manhattan which was perfect for my busy internship schedule. There are also lots of handy deli's around the local area and the neighbours within the block are also lovely to meet. Beatrice was a great host, she always offered things to make me feel comfortable, we went out for lots of meals together and had many a night sharing stories over cups of tea. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a very affordable and safe place to stay at while in NYC - Ridgewood is a great space to escape and relax outside of Manhattan, but you're never too far away as you can see the skyline and the Empire State from the rooftop! I've been so lucky to meet Beatrice and I have made a true friend - it was great living and exploring NYC with Beatrice and we shall definitely be keeping in touch.
Beatrice is a great hostess. First, she always responded nicely and quickly to my mails and questions. Then, the flat and the room were cousy, clean, and very important: the subway was nearby. Beatrice always tried to make me feel comfortable and respected my space at all times. She is very interesting to talk to. I'm glad she speaks spanish so well! It has really been a very nice experience.
I was in Brooklyn for 4 weeks during which time I stayed with Beatrice. Overall, I had a positive experience during my stay. The apartment is nice and feels homey with nice lighting, especially in the bathroom. Beatrice will give you plenty of room for your things, in her fridge particularly. She's great if you need to narrow down places to visit in the city during your stay too, she's full of suggestions if you ask her. Otherwise, if you need time to yourself she'll make sure she's not disturbing you and really wants to make sure that you are comfortable during your stay. If you want to go to the city there's the L train that can take you there fairly quickly and the walk to the train station is about 10-15 minutes and safe! I didn't get to really know Beatrice because I had a busy schedule and so does she, but from when I did get to talk to her, I do feel that she's a good person, thinks about things globally and see that she wants to create a positive environment around her. Thanks for having me and the wonderful stay Beatrice!
I only had one week to find a room in NY (that didn't cost a fortune). This was the first that was appealing, it looked nice and after writing with Beatrice, I was sure this was the right place for my 3 month stay. Beatrice was very helpful and kind from the beginning, she sent me directions on how to get to her place along with a list of recommendations around NY. The neighborhood is nice, there are a lot of families and it isn't intimidating to walk alone at night. The subway is a short walk away, btwn. 10-15 min which can however be annoying after a long day of walking around, most of the time it's okay though. IT takes about 25 min to get to dowtown manhattan as soon as youre in the subway.
The apartment is pretty and the room is too, I really liked the bathroom which has a big mirror in it. The walls are rather thin (I understand that it's like that in a lot of NY apartments) and there isn't a couch in the common space which would make it a bit more comfortable, it is fine apart from that though.
Beatrice was a great host, she always offered things to make me feel comfortable, may it be by offering food or helping me when I was sick and making me tea.
I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a very affordable nice and safe place to stay at while in NY.
Beatrice is a great host, very helpful in giving first timers in new york ideas for sight seeing. I booked last minute and she was very flexible about check in and check out.
Also, in a nice area of queens, with easy access to the train station.
I would definitely book with her again. Highly recommended.
About the Host, Be
I am a California transplant in New York City for a decade now and have various places I call home in the world including Peru and Taiwan. I often host friends from around the world in my flat in NY and love to cook for friends. If I stay at your place, I would love to invent fusion culinary dishes pending on what is available in your neighborhood grocery store, or else brew you delicious tea if that is what you enjoy. Of course, if you don´t have time I would respect your privacy and time, but I do enjoy meeting people, swapping stories and a few good laughs. I always clean up after myself as mutual respect is my core belief in how I navigate the world.
As a traveler, I believe in steering to places where one has a life purpose in.

Yummy! Laid back and quality food. Love their coconut rice. The same dishes in Manhattan would be easily 30% more expensive and not necessarily as welcoming and well prepared.Saint Nicholas Avenue Brooklyn NY 11237
