The Space

Located in the popular Dales village of Harmby, just one mile from Leyburn is 2, Rose Cottages. This charming country cottage is oozing with character, and would make the ideal base for a holiday in the Yorkshire Dales at any time of year. You are greeted by a welcoming rustic pine kitchen creating a homely friendly feel, retaining many interesting original features such as an alcove which was formerly a bread oven. The dining table and butler’s bench finish off the look and offer a true ‘country cottage’ feel. The charm of this cottage does not end in the kitchen. The lounge boasts an original ‘Range’ cleverly incorporating a wood burning stove to keep you cosy on those cooler winter evenings after an invigorating walk on the fells, before retiring to the four poster bed in the master bedroom.

The property is rented on a sole use basis, you will not be sharing the property with anyone else.

Nearest train station Northallerton. Nearest train station with car hire (Hertz) at the station is York. I tend to hire a car from York and then stop off at Crab and Lobster for dinner on way to the cottage.
If you don't wish to hire a car then you can go to Northallerton and get a bus to the cottage (73 to Bedale and then 156/157 to Harmby). (website hidden) buses from Northallerton to Leyburn for details

Check In
  • Lovely little cottage, log fire was a highlight after a good day's walking. There was lots of helpful information about local walks, all the amenities we needed and lovely views from the bedroom windows! Had a lovely stay.

  • Typical cosy Dales cottage with views of Middleham Castle from the bedroom windows. Ideally situated for exploring The Dales and wonderful walking country which was appreciated by Woody, our dog - despite the wet weather! Enjoyed a surprisingly good sausage & mash lunch at Richard III pub in Middleham having watched the racehorses exercising up on the old racecourse. Also had an excellent dinner at the Blue Lion in East Witton on our last night.

  • A lovely cottage. Ideal location for long walks and good country pubs. The rooms were big and the bed was so comfortable! Only two of us stayed but would be fine for 4 or a small family. Kitchen was well equipped for what we needed. Very peaceful spot and beautiful views over the dales.

  • This was a brilliant place to stay, perfectly kitted out for our short holiday. The beds were very comfortable, better than in many hotels we stayed in over the years.
The host left a lot of useful information, we had one of our best lunch experiences as well following them.
The waterfall near the cottage was an unexpected surprise and with the fire one of the features that made our children move to a cottage in Yorkshire.
    Highly recommended!

  • Rose Cottage was the perfect hideaway for New Years Eve. The weather was ghastly so we stocked up on grub from the neighbouring village of Leyburn and bunkered down. We had everything we needed and the log burner was an amazing feature, making the evenings so cosy. Harmby has a few places to walk the dog and the waterfall is definitely worth a look! I would highly recommend Rose Cottage, we will definitely be back.

  • Amazing stay here, the perfect retreat and everything you could need.
We stayed over xmas - thanks we had a great Christmas in the cottage and would definitely recommend it
The fire is superb and it's close to lots of pretty places to go walking
Well presented and cosy, made every effort with all the details just go!!

  • We have just returned from a stay at Tim's cottage, and had a lovely time. The cottage was clean and homely when we arrived, and had even been decorated for Christmas, which was a lovely touch. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs (we didn't cook anything complicated) and was beautifully furnished. As it was cold we got the fire going each night, which warmed up the whole cottage brilliantly.
The cottage is well located for exploring the Dales, and we were able to drive easily to Muker, Keld, Hawes, Aysgarth, etc, for some lovely walks, as well as popping into Leyburn on the evenings for dinner.
There was also useful information in the cottage about things to do nearby and Tim was able to recommend some great walks for us. All in all a lovely stay. Thank You.

  • This is a great little cottage. Big enough for two adult couples in a stunning location. Really enjoyed getting the wood burner going each night. Might need a few extras in the kitchen but overall really great value and very cosy

    November 2013
  • We had three relaxing days in this cosy cottage. It had everything
we asked for, lots of traditional features and lovely views of the
surrounding countryside of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
