Quiet area on the outskirts of Oslo towards Oslo airport. High standard cosy apartment with parking, a short train/bus ride from central Oslo / Lillestrøm. Close to Ikea, indoor Ski centre SNØ & Østmarka national park.

The apartment is on the ground floor with its own entrance & sunny terrace and is part of a house. It has one bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed in the living room for 2. Bathroom with bathtub & shower.

The space
Cosy flat for both summer and winter months. Well liked and reviewed by our guests as one of the best airbnb properties they’ve stayed in. Live as locals do in part of a suburban uniquely designed wooden house. There is one free parking space (with additional paid street parking also available).

Bed linen and towels are provided. The bathroom has floor heating and has soap & shower gel.

The bed sizes are both 140cm wide. Ikea sultan mattress in double bed and top mattresses on both double and sofa bed. The sofa bed can be used as a single bed without needing to pull it out - only cushions need to be removed. There is a possibility of fitting an additional single bed with Ikea sultan mattress into the bedroom upon request.

The kitchen is well-equipped and has a microwave plus child plastic plates and cutlery. A high chair is available upon request. Salt, pepper, cooking oil, olive oil, tea, coffee, hot sugar, butter & dishwasher tablets are provided. Available to order is a breakfast choice of frozen rolls, bagels & croissants, eggs, juice and milk.

Mesh wifi network with fibre internet 150Mbps up and down load speed with unlimited data transfer. TV comes with GooglePlay with chromecast & TV channels. Plus a HDMI cable.

The entrance hall has floor heating, and contains a fire extinguisher, washing machine, dryer, utility sink, cleaning materials, pan & brush, vacuum cleaner, wardrobe area and freezer.

The outdoor terrace is south facing to the house garden and comes with chairs, bench and table (during the snow months there is a bench which can be used if there’s not too much snow).

Games, kids drawing stuff and books (including kids) are also provided.

Heating wise the flat is well insulated and has electric panel heaters in lounge/kitchen and bedroom and the aforementioned floor heating. There is a fire place in the lounge/kitchen with wood provided during the winter months. Wool blankets are provided.

The pathway to the flat entrance is well lit with auto controlled night time lighting. The terrace has motion sensitive lighting. There is an outdoor security camera monitoring the flat entrance door and pathway.

Two smoke detectors are fitted - one in lounge and one in bedroom - these are connected to the smoke detectors in the rest of the house so all sound irrespective of trigger point. Detectors tested regularly. Smoke blanket also provided. Fire extinguisher in hallway.

And our two cats may be curious and come and say hello. They are Monty (black & white) and Milo (black).

Høybråten is a residential community village area established over 100 years ago by working class people from downtown Oslo - the host is descended from one of the first founders. It’s characterised by individual houses mostly with good size gardens and also plenty of apple trees.

There is a convenience store Joker, 5 minutes walk from the flat which is open 7 days a week until 2100 hrs. A larger convenience store Coop Prix (15 minutes walk), open to 2200 hrs weekdays, 2100hrs Saturday and closed Sunday. A supermarket (Kiwi open Monday to Friday 2300 hrs & Saturday to 2100 hrs ) is about 15 minutes walk - located next to Hagenstua train station (station after Høybråten when travelling into Oslo). Next to the Kiwi supermarket you will find a community cafe and on the other side of the road from Kiwi is a chemist (Apotek 1) - and another supermarket Rema1000.

If you have a car, the nearest supermarket is Rema1000 (5 minutes) at Karihaugen where there is also a chemist (Vitusapotek) and a Shell petrol station with fast food outlet (all found on Per Krohgs vei). The largest nearest supermarket is Coop Obs, Haugenstua, a 10 minute drive.

There is a self service fresh pizza kiosk called Fizza a few minutes walk away. The pizzas take 3 minutes. Kiosk Address: HSIL, Sportsstien 4, 1087 Oslo.

There are several EV Type2 22.5kW charge stations - run by Wattif - a few minutes drive (about 10 mins walk) @ Karihaugveien 89, 1086 Oslo. Note that as of June 2025 these stations are not shown in the Wattif app map and instead you need to scan QR codes to open in the app and start charging. In the Haugenstua shopping area (see above) you will find a fast charge run by Recharge at the Shell station and also a Mer operated fast charge at the Coop Obs supermarket.

There is a small park with children play facilities about 15 minutes walk.

And it has a Jazz club (about 15 minutes walk) which has live music nights several times a year (Vardeheim Jazz).

It is close to the Østmarka woodland nature reserve part of which is a national park (deer are frequently seen in the garden). Østmarka has plenty of walking and cycling paths (in winter they become cross country ski tracks some being lit) and lakes for swimming. It also has several cafes and a visiting farm at Losby (9km). Losby also has a championship golf course and football golf. There is a smaller golf course (9 hole par 3) at Stovner (7km).

And as listed in the getting around section there are several nearby shopping centres, with restaurants (and cinema at one and children’s indoor play centre at another). In addition there is Norway’s only indoor ski centre SNØ close by, Oslo’s most visited tourist attraction - Ikea and Oslo’s highest viewing platform with good views of Oslo and the fjord at Stovner.
