A charming, relaxing country style bedroom in Swallow Barn. Tastefully decorated in timeless Laura Ashley duck egg blue and cream. Comfortable double bed, complimentary tea and coffee facilities. Shower en-suite. Use of the lounge and Games Room.

The space
Double-Gate Farm is a Georgian listed farm house and Swallow Barn (where this room is) is a cosy barn conversion - it used to house chickens and calves that were being weaned!
This listing is for the use of a double en-suite bedroom in Swallow Barn with breakfast included.

Guest access
Shared use of the B&B laundry room, garden and Games Room facilities in the farm house.

Other things to note
We have an aged Golden Retriever called Paddy. He is a bit arthritic, hard of hearing (unless you are opening a packet of biscuits) and generally likes to lie down right in the way of where you need to be going!

Location

Lower Godney, United Kingdom

Godney is a tiny hamlet in the middle of Somerset - there are lots of places that are in walking or cycling distance. We have the river Sheppey at the bottom of the garden where if you are lucky you can spot the odd woodpecker, kingfisher or otter.
If you are a star gazer there is no light pollution here and little noise. Local wildlife includes barn owls, buzzards, herons and the world renowned starling murmarations.
Despite it's size we have a very healthy pub, tea rooms, tuck shop and various arts and craft and amateur dramatic productions going on! The village hosts a one day/night music festival the "Godney Gathering" the third weekend in July each year, and a little further away is the well known Glastonbury Festival June 2016 (held at Pilton - not Glastonbury as believed). The festival site is only 25 minutes drive or there are shuttle buses that leave Glastonbury town for the festival site.
In November the Mid-Somerset Carnivals take place - our local ones are Wells, Shepton Mallet & Glastonbury. Booking advised as the area generally fills up for this.
Never a dull moment!
Nearby attractions to visit include Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Wookey Hole Caves, Glastonbury Tor and Abbey, the city of Wells with its magnificent cathedral, Bristol and the Roman spa city of Bath. We have a popular (with the locals!) local cider farm 10 minutes away - not for the faint hearted! The coastal regions of West Somerset and North Devon are within an hour's drive.

Hello! I am a mum of three beautiful (and a bit of a hand full) boys and am married to an even bigger one! We are very relaxed here in Godney. I love to read and catch up on movies. Most of our social activities are focused on our little family - fossil hunting is right at the top of the list. My boys are never happier when they can go out on the beach with their fossil hammers looking for big things! Occasionally we have a grown up evening out. One of our favourite places to go is Bath Spa - the open air roof top pool. A fab place to relax. You can book your stay with us and be reassured that you are staying somewhere that is fully inspected: B&B: 4 star Gold Award + Breakfast Award with Visit England and 4 Gold Stars with the AA. Self-Catering: 4 Star This means that checks are made on us to ensure standards are kept high and that we are properly insured, have regularly serviced fire alarm systems installed and that we offer a good hospitality service among many other things. In 2016 we proudly opened our very own Tea Rooms - focusing on fabulous, tasty, proper home cooking. We serve breakfasts, light lunches, cream teas, afternoon teas and numerous cakes and treats. We have been practicing our barista skills and can make a mean cup of coffee. Of course there is always time for a good cup of tea - Dorset Teas are our supplier of choice and very popular they are too. For those of you wanting to eat at our village pub 'The Sheppey', we are literally next door. Well known for good food and a quirky, eclectic way of doing things in their own unique style. Music is important to this pub and quite often they have live music on a Friday evening. We would always advise our guests to book in plenty of time to avoid disappointment, especially if booking to stay on a Friday/Saturday night. Double-Gate Farm is centrally located in the middle of Somerset - ideal as a base for exploring the area: Wells (Cathedral, Bishop's Palace, Penniless Porch, Vicar's Close). Glastonbury (Abbey, Chalice Well, quirky shops). Street (Clark's Village Factory Outlet shopping, Clarks Museum). Cheddar (Gorge & Caves). Wookey Hole (Caves). Not to mention the numerous nature reserves on our doorstep - Westhay Nature Reserve, Avalon Marshes Reserves, Ham Wall Nature Reserve. THE places to be for those starling murmurations and Bitten spotting! We try our utmost to help you get the most out of your stay here - whether it is one night or many and if you leave without sampling any of the cake in our Tea Rooms - you will kick yourselves! Nothing is too much trouble. We look forward to meeting you, the kettle's on!

During your stay
I am generally around during the day. If I have gone awol then my dad Terry is usually found somewhere or the staff in the Tea Rooms may be able to help you with any queries.
