A cozy and quaint 1950's cottage in a beautiful garden setting. Walk to the town centre in 8 minutes, or curl up in the armchair and soak up the view - it's unbeatable.
Relax in our superbly located small, cosy and quiet Sunnybrae cottage, set in a gorgeous secluded private garden. It is situated in "the dress circle", just a eight minute walk to the heart of all Queenstown has to offer; restaurants, shops, cinema, gondola and adventure activities. Walk down to the lake and follow the path through the beautiful Queenstown Gardens into town.
Our cottage sleeps four, and is ideally suited to a couple looking for a relaxing weekend away, with the well furnished master bedroom overlooking the lake. Wake early or late, lie in bed and watch the day unfold upon the lake and mountains in pinks and yellows. Listen to 'The Call' of the Earnslaw and watch her majestic journey across the lake.
There is one double bed in the master bedroom and two single beds in the twin room, which receives the sun and has a heated towel rail on the wall. Both bedrooms have bedside tables for all beds, plus wardrobes.
The kitchen includes microwave, ceramic cooktop, oven and a useful variety of crockery and glassware, plus extras like a sandwich grill and coffee plunger to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The lounge, gallery and master bedroom all have fantastic large windows displaying a stunning 180 degree view of Lake Wakatipu, the garden, the mountains and the town, with the rich colours being visible from every room. In winter, snow-capped mountains reflect in a deep blue lake. In spring, fresh new growth shows in the garden with the promise of a Central Otago summer - native Bellbirds, Tui, Kereru and Tauhou (Waxeyes). In summer, schist rocks shimmer on the mountains and reflect on the lake. Roses grow around the deck and in the autumn, amazing colours burst through as the leaves change and drop for winter. At the end of the day, watch the sun track across the township, to hide behind Mt Nicholas, sending rays of colour through the sky on to the surrounding mountains as it sets over the lake.
The long summer twilight seems to extend your holiday forever.
Amenities in the lounge include Freeview TV, a very effective heatpump, a large stereo/CD player and two Lazyboy chairs, plus a large plush couch.
The warm palette and soft furnishings inside the cottage are complemented by the deep greens and reds of the garden, and the wooden screens strategically placed in the garden to give you the utmost experience of welcoming homeliness and privacy.
There are two dining tables for use, one in the lounge and one in the gallery, seating 4-5 people comfortably. The gallery has a unique long dining table with beautiful Central Otago influences – you will understand when you see it!
The bathroom and shower has a washing machine and dryer for your convenience, plus several towel rails, and there is an ironing board and iron in the closet in the gallery.
French doors open onto the sunny porch which is surrounded by a mature private garden. An outdoor glass table that seats four makes it perfect for entertaining, and a picnic table situated further out in the sun is ideal for having a late breakfast or lunch, whilst watching the tuis and woodpigeons.
The cottage was built in the 1950's, and its design follows lines of that time. It was the first cottage built on the street, and there are photos on display of the view from the window before much of Queenstown was there! This is a dear old place of comfort and homeliness to our family, and if you are looking for up-to-the-minute technology and fittings, this is not the place for you. We like to visit and relax, feel the character of the cottage and enjoy special times with family and friends there.
There are two off-street and several on-street parks. Access is up four steps in the garden, which are wide and easy to navigate.
The property is fenced on three sides, but just has trees and garden on the road frontage.
Smokefree and no pets please.
The cottage is not fitted with child safety measures, so we cannot accept children under the age of thirteen.
Usual check-in and check-out times are 2.00 p.m. and 10.00 a.m. respectively.

We require a bond of $300 which doubles as a deposit to secure the dates of your booking. Your booking is confirmed upon receiving this bond. This bond is a payment over and above your rental fee, and will be refunded to your nominated bank account after your departure, if the cottage is left in good order.
If transferring funds from outside NZ, please allow for the bank transfer fee.
The balance needs to be received 7 days prior to occupancy date, in order to access to the cottage. Details of access will be given on receipt of rental payment.
WIFI is only available to purchase from a nearby motel (prepay) but does not come included with your rental. From experience it can be very slow and unreliable (we would not recommend it) - if you would like internet we suggest an internet cafe in town, with a coffee and some sunshine!
We have provided many pamphlets in the cottage on activities and places around the Lakes District, and the information/booking center is very close by, in the center of town.
There is a garden shed which you can access, for drying skis and snowboards.
Interaction with Guests
We do not live at the property, we use it as our own getaway so we will not meet you in person. Thus we cannot provide any basic food or breakfast amenties for you but we are on hand via text/calling/email for any questions.
Quiet, leafy streets, friendly neighbors and locals, and such a short walk to the crystal clear lake and all the activities that Queenstown is renowned for!
Walking is the best way to get around central Queenstown, as the cottage is so close! However a car is useful if you wish to get to Arrowtown or any of the more wild locations - bungy, Glenorchy, the mountains etc. There are good buses and shuttles to most activities if you research ahead, and the cottage is a minute's walk to the main bus route.
Our cottage is very comfortable and peaceful, with the garden, gorgeous views and soft furnishings. It is very precious to us, and has small ornaments on display. It is has not been fitted with child safety measures, so we cannot accept children under thirteen to stay, and we hope that any teenagers staying would be well behaved in terms of taking care of the property. We would like to know if anything gets broken or damaged so we can arrange for repairs as soon as possible. We hope our guests are aware that it is an older property, so we would love to accommodate people who will appreciate its quaint design and take good care of it. We hope you enjoy our lovely cottage, and make the most of the close proximity to town and attractions, whilst enjoying the garden and suburb surrounding.
The little cottage is at a very good location in Queenstown. We can walk to town mall for about 8 minutes. We enjoyed our stay but two things need to be considered, one is that the house is a bit cold at a summer raining day. Of course we didn't turn on the heat pump. It might make a difference if we did so. Second is no internet in the house. First I didn't thought it will be a problem, but at the end when we trying to book hotel in Auckland we had to walk to town at night. Over all, great location, clean nice little cottage, and magnificent view.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Georgie's unique Queenstown cottage. Panoramic views from all back rooms make this delightful cottage truly memorable. It is well equipped, homely and welcoming.
Although we never met her, the host was very prompt and thorough with her responses and in providing the necessary information about getting in and staying at her home.
The home is located in a quiet suburb a short walk from downtown. The view is absolutely breath-taking. Although the furnishings of the house are a bit dated (a step back into 1960's), it is well-maintained and equipped. No breakfast fixings were provided, and there is no WIFI.
My husband and I were very comfortable there for three days and we were glad to be a bit outside of the downtown which is very touristy and noisy.
The cottage was perfect for our small family group for four nights. The views are sublime, the bedding comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. The gardens are charming. We did not meet our hosts but didn't need to as there are helpful notes inside.
The view is incredible. It is worth the price of admission alone. No hotel has a view this good as this house is higher up than any of them. Everything in the house was as expected. It is older but it is very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and items to prepare breakfasts or dinners. The dishwasher is waiting on parts to get repaired but we had no problem without it. I tried to purchase the internet from the lodge below in spite of comments I read and as the comments said it is not reliable. It only worked on sunny days for a while. The house is a short walk to the center of town on hills. It is located in a quiet nice neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it to anyone who wants to stay away from the crowds in downtown Queenstown but wants to be close enough to enjoy it.
The description of the property was accurate and the neighbourhood was nice. Accommodation was comfortable. Lovely views ...quite a walk back from town.
The house is in a nice, quiet neighborhood and an easy walk to central Queenstown. The views were magnificent. Communications with Georgia were easy and all the information we needed for our stay was provided. The beautiful gardens greeted us whenever we left for the day for returned. It suited our needs well.
I love to get outdoors, tramping, running, camping, you name it; which means that I love being in Queenstown, as I can do all these things!
Our cottage is very precious to my family and I. We like that other individuals and families can enjoy it too. It is always such a relaxing place to be for us.
I am friendly, outgoing, motivated and enjoy the little things in life. When I travel, I like home comforts and soft beds as much as anyone, although I think it is definitely the new experiences and different lifestyles, however brief, that make a trip memorable. I hope that our cottage can provide you with good memories and a comfortable stay.
