Nice comfy second floor 2 bedroom apartment.

The Space

We recently changed to a King bed in the bedroom for the comfort of our guests.

Two bedroom, one bath second floor non smoking apartment (up to 4 people) located in historic home in rural Frederick County Maryland 1 hour to Baltimore, 1 ½ hours to Washington DC, ½ hour to Gettysburg PA or Frederick MD, 1 hour to Harpers Ferry WV and Sharpsburg MD.

Use as a base of operations for exploring all that the area has to offer, or just relax in this comfortably decorated apartment with pastoral views of the local farms and meadows. Cable TV, wireless internet, full kitchen and off street parking.

This is a great area for bicycling through the rural areas of Frederick and Carroll Counties.

We're located on the Maryland Historic Old Main Streets driving tour.

Please look at the Guidebook link (or map tab) for restaurants, sightseeing, laundry, and other things in the area.

Prospective renters with children: Please note the proximity of the bedroom window to the floor. This is a second story window with old wavey glass. Consider the safety of your children when making a reservation. It is our policy that all children and babies are considered people. Please include all people in the resevation request.

There is a king bed in the larger bedroom, and a pull out futon in the smaller bedroom that makes up into a full bed.

We live out in the country, the closest grocery store is about 8 miles away. You may want to pick up necessities on your way here so you can relax from your travels when you arrive.

Our pets are in a seperate part of the house, not in this apartment.

The Neighborhood

Our home is in a rural part of Frederick County with horse and dairy farms nearby, along with a Rodeo right down the street. There are quiet streets for walking, running or bycicling in the area. Feel free to walk around the property and enjoy the gardens.

  • That space is fantastic deal. Spacious, clean and well kept. Beautiful area. Only 30 minutes from Gettysburg were we had most our activities - cyclorama, museum, reenactment.

We will come back next year.

  • David and Donna were extremely responsive for booking, confirming and checking in. We only saw them when checking in and out, though I did call Donna by phone a few times with questions and she was always available. The apartment was very spacious and clean and looked just like the photos. This apartment is in a rural area that is so beautiful, complete with fireflies on the summer nights and very green, open views. The kitchen was well equipped. We bought groceries from a Safeway about 15 minutes away. We had four of us in the apartment, including 2 teenagers, and David was kind enough to set up a twin air mattress in the living room, so they used that and the living room couch (extra linens provided). Overall a great stay!

  • David provided a wonderful place for us to stay. Easy to find, spacious, lots of natural light, comfy sleeping, quiet area, and we didn't feel like we were intruding on anyone's privacy. Great midpoint for all the places we planned to visit, so if we visit the area again, we would look forward to staying here if there is an opportunity.

  • My wife and I had a great stay and David and Donna's place. The apartment was spacious, clean, and charming. We really liked the location and Donna directed us to nearby Frederick where we found lots of good dining options. The location is very rural, but nicely located near Gettysburg. We had a great time and would stay there again.

  • This was the ideal getaway for me. I needed a place to retreat and write. Donna was lovely and friendly and other than arriving and departing she and David left me to my writing. The house is beautifully restored and everything is clearly well cared for. It's near nothing which is exactly what I needed. The rooster crowing throughout the day was the "local noise"! The bed in this apartment is a sleeping experience-- grandiose and luxurious to sleep in. Nothing about the apartment feels cramped-- huge open spaces and lots of light.

I have much more writing to do so I will definitely be visiting again!

  • We were looking for a weekend getaway that was easily accessible, comfortable, inexpensive, and friendly, and we got everything we needed! David was always easy to contact and was really flexible with our arrival time. The place is exactly as advertised, plus bonus points for a bed so big you need a step stool.

I very much recommend a stay here. Frederick is a short drive away, grocery stores are also nearby, and if it weren't raining I'm sure the walks around the farms would be lovely. I will definitely stay here again!

  • David and his wife are lovely hosts. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. It's a nice quiet place to stay in the country side. We are very pleased with our weekend getaway and are grateful that we were able to bring our dog.

  • The apartment was lovely. It was clean, relaxing, spacious and the bed was more comfortable than our own bed at home! David was gracious and generously opened the apartment to be available to us over the holidays when it is usually not open for rental. David allowed us to bring our dog, and we enjoyed walking her down the country road adjacent to the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it for both comfort and value.

  • This is a marvelous place to stay. We luxuriated in a beautiful king sized bed. The apartment is very spacious and clean. Very nice people and fantastic value for money. You look out from the bedroom window to beautiful Maryland rolling farm land.
    Well worth a stay.

  • Place was great. I would stay again. Stayed there a few days while traveling from Florida to finger lakes New York. Spent some time biking C&O canal near Harpers Ferry, visiting Gettysburg, Antietam,& Harpers Ferry. I did have plans to take in a national's game DC which was interrupted by the Navy shootings. This is a good central location to go from for visiting the battlefields & ballparks Baltimore&Washington DC. The place is clean & open feel very comfortable for 2couples or family of 4.
