Jani is very nice and the house is decent. The only concern we had during our stay is no Air Conditioning and no screen of any windows and door. The garden is beautiful but probably because of it, we got a lot of mosquito bites including our 8-month old baby. We called the owner …

Response from Janie:
Helen and family visited Los Angeles and honored us by staying at our home. Their 4 day stay sadly coincided with a record breaking heat wave that was felt across the country. It is factually false to say the house has no screens. The entire house has window screens except for a few small windows which have never posed an issue to any guests! People never had a problem. I mentioned these 3 windows and even asked if they wanted me to put up the window screens for those 4 days, but they sounded ok with it. I asked our current guests after Helen about the issue and they emailed back saying: “We really aren't getting any insects inside, except maybe a moth or two in the dining area at night, when the lights are on inside and doors all open. It's not been an issue for us in the screen less rooms. ” The average temperature for July in that area is 73.5 degrees F but this time it rose to 85 I think. We experienced 95 in our other home in LA and 105 in the valley! Homes near the beach simply do not usually have air conditioning. It is generally not needed. The house has an AC that we disconnected when we built our deck and did not reconnect it as we never used it. It is stated in the ad. We may reconnect it, although such heat is rare. It is scientifically inaccurate to state that a garden causes mosquitoes! Standing water, (which we do not have anywhere!) breeds mosquitoes, not plants! This heat wave may have led to an increase in some types of insects, but that is merely speculation. Communication was difficult. For example, after spending an inordinate amount of time explaining how to turn on a ceiling fan and another half hour giving them neighborhood tips tailored to their needs since they were house hunting, I mentioned what I tell everyone: “LA is more beautiful in winter. Temperatures are great and the winter clouds make for amazing sunsets.” (See photo in our listing!) But Helen has apparently imagined that I was shirking responsibility whereas I was trying to give her a friendly tip. I am sorry we had so much heat and misunderstanding.

The house is a hidden treasure -- the gardens are beautiful and the canopy outside keeps everything cool, quiet, and private. It was lovely to sit in the garden, a great way to start the day. The house came with everything you would need for an enjoyable stay, and was super cle…

My family and I had such a wonderful time at Jani's home! What a gem! The garden in the back is absolutely beautiful. It was quiet, safe and close to restaurants, cafes and grocery. Having such a welcoming, warm and calming space was such a gift during the days leading up to my w…

Jani's home is magnificent. An oasis inside of an oasis. We were very pleased to have our family have such a lovely place to stay during their time here.

We stayed here for 22 nights with our 10 month old while construction was being performed on our place, and it was wonderful. This was Jani and Cyrus' first go at being Airbnb hosts, and I must say, after lots of back and forth with them initially, when we showed up, the house wa…

Response from Janie:
Thank you guys for putting up with our initial quirks. As I mentioned in my initial emails, we listed the place on ABB thinking we would get reservations for June and July and that we have months to set up the place, but we got bombarded with requests from desperate people who really needed a place immediately. So we worked for a few days nonstop to make the place close to what we had in mind for our guests. I explained our progress to you daily and we had even set up a time for you to see the place before booking. Thank you guys for being so clean and so patient with the wifi and other initial hickups. We would love to have you guys back whenever. I think it would be a nice nearby break every few months. We stayed at Caswell for a few nights ourselves this week and I must say we liked it more than Beverly Hills. It was quieter, cleaner (lol) and had better air and the beach was awesome. Please please do come back.

We had a wonderful time at Jani's cottage. The best and perhaps most unique feature of the place is the magnificent garden with the sheltered back deck. It was spacious enough for four adults and a baby to lounge around, play, relax and feel at home. Even surrounded by other hous…
