About This Listing
This is THE PERFECT PLACE to get away from it ALL and for family or friends to eat, drink, cook, barbecue & have a GREAT, relaxing vacation.
What could be more perfect than staying on a peaceful river running through the Sonoma wine country?
In the summer if you stay 6 nights, you get the 7th half off!
I believe it would be almost impossible to find a house with a comparable setting. You feel like you have a big piece of the River all to yourselves when you stay here!
VERY Private, as it is at the end of a short private road.
River access right from the house. You can literally throw a rock into the water from the deck.
Sleeps 8 in private rooms.
2-stories, 1,300 square feet, Redwood trees on either side AND growing up through the deck around the hot tub (it is SO COOL!) with an amazing view of the Russian River.
2 miles from the Korbel Champagne Cellars and wineries are everywhere.
5 mi. East of Guerneville w/ its fun shops & restaurants. 10 mi. West of Santa Rosa,
This is charming, rustic, cabin-style house is decorated with comfort and relaxation in mind and a few antiques thrown in for good measure.
It’s spacious (2 Living Rooms!) comfortable and very cozy.
I've been renting out this house to happy vacationers for 14 years and I have a LOT of repeat renters.
2 Full Bathrooms plus one Shower on the Huge Deck.
Six-Person Hot Tub
Fully Appointed Kitchen
DVD player / Stereo Receiver
Fireplace in Master Bedroom and Wood Stove in Downstairs Living Room.
I even throw in a "House Tips" sheet with suggested things to do and places to eat.
$100 cleaning fee.
To keep cleaning fee down, bring your own sheets & towels. I provide blankets, pillows, mattress pads, bed spreads etc. Please add $75 (total) to your calculations if you want linens provided. I'll have to send you a "Special Offer" with this fee because Airbnb doesn't accommodate "occasional" fees
You're going to Love this place!
Note: During the SUPER busy months (July & August), I have a 5-night minimum stay policy. Or we can work out a higher nightly rate and you can stay fewer nights. You’ll probably find a 7-night minimum-night-stay policy for advanced bookings at most all of the other worthwhile houses up here. Most folks only let houses go for a weekend during most popular months if a house is still available at the last minute. I can make exceptions if someone wants to stay fewer nights between Sunday and Thursday. In September things calm down quite a bit and I can start taking weekend-only bookings again.
Washer & Dryer are available for people staying a minimum of 5 nights.
The River! Roads way off the beaten path to hike or ride bikes around on.
Washer & dryer are available to those staying 5 nights or longer.
Just don't go on the down-river neighbor's property or try to access the river that way, which shouldn't be difficult because there's a fence.
Interaction with Guests
Guests will have the whole area to themselves. I live 75 miles from the property but my caretaker lives within easy walking distance, so if there are any questions or issues, he's right there to help. His phone number and the housekeeper's number are provided in case anyone has questions.
I love the fact that it's SO peaceful! I recommend my guests bring binoculars to watch the various large birds (Great Blue Herons, Egrets, Ospreys Hawks) and Deer that are commonly seen from the deck. Sometimes a River Otter or seal is seen swimming by. And great BIG fish of some kind - Steehlead? Also that, since the house is at the end of a private road, there are no cars driving by my house and the public is not allowed on our road.
There is a Sonoma County bus stop about 3/4 of a mile form the house. It runs East to Santa Rosa and West possibly to the coast. But it makes many stops and I don't recommend it as a regular means of transportation.
There is room for 3 or 4 cars at the property. More cars will cause you to block each other in. Carpool!
Other Things to Note
The first time you come to the house, do your best to arrive before dark, or see to it that at least one member of your party does so they can talk you in if you do arrive after dark There aren't many streetlights out there and the house can be difficult to find at night. Plus you'll miss the exciting drive and drop-dead scenery on the way in, which is quite dramatic.
Please Print This Out and Bring It WITH You So You'll Know What To Do and NOT Do.
*Although there are no neighbors right next door, as a common courtesy don't play loud music or get rowdy outdoors after 10 PM.
*No smoking indoors. During dry months, extinguish cigarettes, etc. in water and leave in outside receptacles.
*House is on a septic system, so do NOT let anything you didn't eat (except toilet paper) go down the toilets. No paper towels, tampons, hair, etc.
* The spa is not a bathtub. Please use the deck shower & soap to shower off BEFORE you get into it. If the spa is unreasonably dirty after you vacate and the caretaker has to drain, clean, refill, add new chemicals to and reheat that 350 gallons of water I'll have to withhold $100 from the security deposit. Families babies or small children be advised.
*If bringing a dog, which is fine if it's well-behaved and COMPLETELY housebroken, make sure you pick up after him/her. Please do not allow your dogs to wander around the property on their own. Go with them or walk them on a leash. Do not leave dogs (or other pets) with separation anxiety issues alone for extended periods in the house or on the deck. If they freak out and try to chew their way out I may have to charge you for repairs and I HATE having to keep any of anybody's security deposit. I want you to have a good time AND fond memories.
If you can't keep your dog(s) off the furniture, bring sheets to cover whatever they might lie on.
*Important: DO NOT try to get to the water by going on the downstream neighbor's property. He gets very upset when my guests go on his property and if he complains about this happening with your group I would have to withhold some of your security deposit. Please make sure everyone in your group understands this.
*Put furniture and other items back where they were when you arrived. The housekeeper can't move chairs & end tables all over the property and clean the house in her allotted time and she can't move heavy things by herself!
*Hose mud and debris off inner tubes and floaties when you're all done using them, and let me know if any popped so I can replace them for the next guests. Keep inner tubes away from things that can pop them, like blackberry bushes! Do NOT toss inner tubes over the bushed into the River or they WILL pop, and they cost $22 each!
*Wash all dishes when you vacate (but you can leave them in the dish drainer to dry) and tidy up the house when you go.
*Make sure you get your cell phone chargers! It's $25 for me to return items left at the house.
*If you ask my caretaker, Nick, for help with inflating things or other significant assistance (not directly related to the house) it would be nice if you give him some kind of tip ($5, $10) so he will continue to agreeably help my guests :)
*If you make a fire in the fire ring during the summer months, extreme care must be taken so it doesn't get out of control. Hose the area down a bit first with the hose on the deck and make sure someone is keeping an eye on it AT ALL TIMES! Do not put more than 3 pieces of wood on it at any one time. Have a bucket of water handy in case you need it and COMPLETELY EXTINGUISH the fire, with water, before retiring for the night. No steam should be coming off it when you're done. If that hillside goes up in flames you, me or both may end up in jail :[
A gathering of extra people (for a total of 15 max) can come enjoy the house for an afternoon but may not stay for days. It's too much strain on the septic system. My caretaker lives close by and he will inform me of large or unreasonably loud groups, which may affect your review.
The house was beautiful and perfect for us. It was so wonderful to be in such a peaceful setting during our hectic dance festival time. Thank you for opening your home to us. Maybe we'll be back in a year!
Take care and much thanks!
The location and house are both great! The setting is gorgeous with a wonderful river view, and the house was really well appointed. Lots of stuff within a pretty short drive. Toni was great and gave lots of instructions on how to heat the house, where to go, etc.
Great place to stay, nestled in a private compound above the Russian River. The cabin is cosy with a wood burning stove and plenty of space to sleep.
We had a great time relaxing on the deck and in the hot tub.
One thing to note - it's hard to find so make sure you get directions from Toni.
Great trip, nice house. Toni was mostly responsive. The house is pretty hard to find, but that's as much a drawback as it is a benefit.
Toni's Riverfront home was delightful. Cozy, nestled, in the woods right on the river. The wood fire heating system was fun to use and the beds were comfy. We had a great stay and would definitely visit again.
The listing for the house was fairly accurate, except it had great photos of a dock (which we were looking forward to) and there was no dock. The listing also doesn't ay if you don't want to bring all your own sheets and make all the beds, it is an additional $100. That said, the house was adorable, clean and perfect. It had absolutely everything we needed to cook and hang out.

About the Host, Toni
Hi! I'm a third generation San Franciscan (rare as hen's teeth!) and I love the outdoors. I feel so lucky to have been born and raised in a part of the world that is so beautiful and so full of wonderful things to see and do. I've found that being consciously grateful for the good things that come our way seems to make even more good things happen :)
I love my kids, my dog, my home, gardening, cooking and having fun at The River House!
