Private Media Room with KItchen

House - Private room · Florida Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20001, United States

You will love the comfort and serenity of this special room and the privacy most people thrive to experience in vacation stays or extended stay opportunities. What a great opportunity to experience NW downtown DC & all conveniences of "Location."

The Space

This Great Bedroom is located in the back location of the first floor. The location is quiet from the front section of this house since the house is located on a popular and busy street.

The Media Bedroom offers a private kitchenette with stove, sink and full size refrigerator. Upon request only, we will start your week, initially, with a light continental breakfast with coffee/tea, a pastry or breakfast bar of your choice. If you plan on staying more longer term (after a week), we expect you to use any of our nearby local markets or purchase your supply of groceries for the duration of your stay. Meanwhile, let us know what you like when you complete your booking. It's not guaranteed you will get your choice if you book within five(5) days of arrival but you will get what's available.

There is another private entrance/exit of the house. If you elect to register for private parking, the back will let you into a parking space a few steps from the back door.

This great bedroom accommodates a queen-size bed with a brand new gel foam mattress. The room is also located in the quieter area of the house. This combination assures a very restful and private environment.

The room holds 2 people comfortably. You have an array of videos and satellite TV, or listen to great music from collectables or the radio and de-stress from your day of touring, meetings, and short or longterm internships.

Additionally, you have a shared bathroom with one other individual who may stay in another room on the same floor. There is another private door that closes off the entrance to the bathroom from the hallway. The bathroom is quite spacious and has a jacuzzi tub. You will get complimentary welcome bath products; towels, washcloths, and a robe to use during your stay, upon request.

The bathroom is shared by one person or no more than myself and my wife (briefly if we are occupying the office all day) but most times, you will be the only person(s) using this bathroom. Therefore, we ask that you take into account our house rule for cleaning up after yourself each time you use it. That is, after using the tub, clean it (don't leave hair and visibly anything that someone coming behind you can trace it to you). Make sure you pick up the bathmat and rinse it, after your use, and hang it in the tub on the handrail to dry. Place the floor-mat on the tub to hang dry after use as well. We want the bathroom to remain the Sanctuary it was intended for escaping the outside busy days.

In the bathroom, there is also a white cabinet that is available for AirBNB Guests' use, during your stay. We keep extra supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, extra towels, soaps and other toiletries, cleaning solutions, etc. Everything is accounted for so don't take anything with you as you depart unless you get permission.

Additionally, See my other listings for more photo selections. We encourage you to take advantage of any of our current special pricing, when available.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the first floor area where they will stay and the basement for washing clothes. You may enjoy relaxing in the common area of the basement and use the exercise machine too. Do not use or borrow anything else while in the basement without permission. Also, do not tread in either corner rooms where guests or residents stay.

Interaction with Guests

All of the rooms listed on my pages are arranged for your comfort, security, and as much privacy as feasible to give you during your stay. This suite room, in particular, is very private with options to enter or exit from the front hallway or the kitchenette. So, interaction is more up to you and how much social time you would like, or keep it private! Its up to you.

The Neighborhood

We are on the border of Bloomingdale, Shaw and LeDroit Park Neighborhoods. Great location with a Walkscore of 85 and a TransitScore of 92 (Riders Paradise). Centrally located in downtown DC, just a few blocks from the entrance of the Shaw station on Green and Yellow Metro lines. Tons of transportation options - steps to Green/Yellow Metro, many Zipcars close by, new Capitol Bike Share Stations nearby, bike lanes on 5th, R & Q streets, Buses (G2-Bus to Georgetown, 70 Bus lines, Circulator), easy highway access to the 395 tunnel. 5 stops on the Metro to Nationals BallPark; 8 stops to DCA/Reagan National Airport.

Other Things to Note

  • It was great room to stay. Everything was well organized. The kitchen and fridge was so nice to cook and keep my groceries during my stay. Mr. Gerald responded my inquiry ASAP. The bed was really comfortable even for two persons.

    Response from Edmond:

I am glad you all enjoyed your stay. Come back at anytime.

  • We had a great short weekend trip to DC!. It was our first time and this location was perfect. It was in walking distance to the SHAW metro station and to multiple bus lines. It was in walking distance to the famous U street, which had a lot of places to eat and drink. Their place was very clean and if we ever head back to DC we will definitely stay with them again. Mr. & Mrs. Gerald were very nice and provided us with any information that we needed to get around DC.

    Response from Edmond:

You are welcomed to return, at any time. Blessings to you both.

  • It was my first time in dc. This location was great since it was nearby many local food hot spots (went to bens chili twice) and a lot of bars and night life. The distance from here to the main city to "tour" might seem far but it really isnt. Convenient and close to the metro station. Edmond was a great host and communicated very well. All necessities were provided and given a heads up.

    Response from Edmond:

Thank You, Kristian. Take care, too.

  • Edmond was very fast in responding to my last minute request, and everything was good. Hus apartment was good - bathroom, small kirschen and clean.. Nothing to put on the apartment.

But, the neighborhood in which the apartment lay, was not a good choice. We felt very unsafe, and was afviced not to enter this neighborhood being caucasian and blonde. We decided not to spent the night in the apartment, although it was a very good apartment.

Thanks to Edmond for the fast responds.

    Response from Edmond:

I didn't know anyone like Emma would feel uncomfortable in our area since we've had many different visitors (and still do) of all ethnic backgrounds (even other blond-headed individuals) but didn't realize she could be warned because of her hair color or background. Throughout DC, there are many areas that are changing from times in the past when things were a bit rough for many Washingtonians. This area has revitalized a great deal from old times, especially within the last two - three years. Makes me sad to think people still have stigmas about some of our revitalized and growing areas like ours that are trying to boost our neighborhoods to standards where all can feel comfortable and safe. We intend to do our part in welcoming all our guests. Good Luck, Emma, in continuing to discover many different places of our world.

  • It was nice time at Ed's apartment. We did not have many opportunities to talk personally. But Ed quickly responded to all my questions and requests. My room was clean and very nicely decorated. A big plus that the kitchen was there. I have only two comments. It is a pity that there was no room table. Like the other comments, the internet is slow and often interrupts the signal. Just to check the news and e-mails is OK, but with larger files is a problem. Nevertheless, it was a successful debut of use airbnb service.

  • I stayed there for 5 days, the place is clean and nice, and since I was the only one on the first floor so I had the bathroom all to myself! lol Location is good, there is a bus stop right in front of the house that could take you to the U Street, may take 5 to 10 mins to catch a cab though. Edmond and his wife are very friendly host! The bath did not have hot water the first night but he helped me fix it right after I talked to him :) Thank you guys i had a nice time visiting DC!

  • We had a good stay. We didn't get a chance to meet the host, but otherwise we had a great experience.

I've had several businesses; most lasting for more than 45 years. I know a lot about DC history and love telling interesting stories of yesteryear! I am very friendly but have a great knack at serious business. It all began in 1969 when me and Hilton Felton, my music director, started our youth singing group named "Ed Gerald Gospel Sounds". Consequently, for more than 23 years I produced a local (Metropolitan DC) Gospel Show called, "Spread a Little Sunshine", on TV - WTOP, WUSA--CBS Channel 9. Simultaneously, I recorded and produced gospel music; started Paradise Productions Studio next door to this building, then obtained the current building in 1995. This current building produced records under the labels "Paradise Productions", "Energy for God Record Company", Gospel World of E.G., then "EG Record Company." Many notable gospel artists were produced in this building, including the Dorsey Team of Dr. Clayton Hannah and Dr. Thomas A Dorsey. People who have stayed at my property have had a pleasant fun stay and usually don't like leaving on-time which is ok with me too! Each of my rented rooms will have some significant historical meaning of my times in DC during the years of TV or Radio producing or recording music or shows that were also performed and presented in metropolitan Parks and Recreation. If you ask not you receive not, is my favorite motto! Be is truly too short. Before booking: Link your Airbnb profile to a social network, verify your phone number; and complete your Airbnb profile. If your profile is not complete, upon checkin, expect us to ask to view a photo ID and possibly make a copy for our private records. The purpose is for emergencies and security, like hotels would expect. Thank You ############################# I can schedule for a basic driving tour of NW DC including Smithsonian, NatL Archives, Air & Space Museum; Iwa Jima Memorial, US Capital, Supreme Court, White House, Washington Monument, and a few more popular sites around NW Washington. I charge $45/hour for your group, up to 4 people. By the hour charges only apply (no halfs calculated). This Is daytime 9-6. After 6pm til midnight, $55/hour basic evening/night tour. Ask about my airport transportation service as well. I operate in all the metropolitan airports. If you're interested in the above, let me know in advance what you prefer for scheduling.
