Interaction with Guests
We like to greet our guests and help them out with any questions. They will have a lot of privacy.
The area offers many interesting things to do, from chocolate tasting tours, to hikes into the rain forest. Our farm is a perfect base for visiting the volcanoes Poas and Barva. We will provide you with a list of things to do and places to eat or to order.
Public transport is available, although limited. Taxis can be arranged easily. Rented cars are probably the most convenient means of transportation. Upon request a transfer from the airport or/and from San Jose to the farm can be arranged at a market rate.
If you have further questions don’t hesitate to contact us, we will answer quickly and will be more than glad to help you out!
The farm house cottage was fabulous. You are guaranteed to like it. We had a wonderful and memorable time there in July. The pros:
1. Wonderful location on the mountain side with great vistas.
2. The cottage is very well done with lots of well thought out details and artifacts
3. Very very green!
4. Large patio where you can relax in the 15-25 C climate.
5. Two large dogs
6. Lots of things to see and do especially if you are into outdoors stuff.
Not really any except very difficult to find. Must have GPS location and a rental car. Very difficult without a car. The town of San Isidro is very charming nearby. However, very limited eating choices. More in Heredia about 7-10 kms.
Bottom line: book blindly. You will not be disappointed...you will have a wow moment!

We absolutely LOVED this place for so many heartwarming reasons. First off, the place is even more gorgeous than the pictures (and the pictures are already gorgeous!) and will make your jaw drop in awe and wonder that this will be your cozy cottage home for the next few days. It is filled with light and your views all around you are beautiful green nature, and on top of that there is a beautiful lake just a few steps down on the property, acres of private garden grounds to wander in, and an amazing skyline view of the city below you down in the valley from the patio. It is very private and homey and you will never want to leave. The interior design and architectual layout of the cottage living spaces are also very well thought-out and we enjoyed having so many options of where to hang out and chill inside or outside. The patio was one of our favorite spots because it was the perfect combination of being perfectly comfortable indoors and outdoors at the same time with a very spacious patio, very comfy sofa, and plenty of open space views to enjoy the rain and thunderstorms at night which are incredible.
And on top of that, the family, friends, and pets here are AMAZING. They were the most memorable thing about this place and we miss them all very much and wish we could come hang out with them everyday. The first day we were greeted by Fred, Maria, and the rest of their welcoming friends and family and invited to have a delicious organic lunch at their home with everyone, which Maria prepared with items from her own garden. One of our most favorite meals in Costa Rica! Then, we were invited to participate in a permaculture Adobe brick making class right on the property with Paolo. It was the perfect way to spend our first day in Costa Rica and the experience can't be topped! We had so much fun learning and making with everyone and will remember this for the rest of our lives. It was so refreshing to see and learn about the operation they are developing here at the farm to create more eco-friendly, educational programs to offer their visitors for them to experience and share. We really feel connected and appreciate this mission and the big-hearted people behind it. This type of interconnectedness could never be experienced in a hotel or resort, because it happens between family and friends, and that is exactly how Maria and Fred make you feel upon entering the gates. Do not hesitate to book this place. Staying here will heal your heart and soul.
And we really miss the two dogs and cat who were our constant companions who warmed our hearts so much that we still miss and wish we could play with them again here in the States!
We stayed for 4 nights at Casa del Pozo, and we absolutely loved it there. The suite was clean, spacious, open, with lots of natural light from the big windows, and had a very cozy feeling. There were two porches (one with a roof and one without) with nice views of the city, as well as of the trees and greenery all around. The two dogs and cat were so friendly--we missed them when we left! The location was great, not too far from towns and bigger cities if you want to explore, but far enough to feel like you are in a rural, more secluded area. The host was reachable by phone whenever we had questions, which was helpful. They also had a packet in the suite with useful information about the surrounding areas and tips about where to visit. We definitely recommend staying here. The next time we go to Costa Rica, we will certainly go back to Case del Pozo!
While beautiful, the pictures just don't do this farm justice. It was truly spectacular, the views were amazing, and the farm suite was extremely clean. The host is a treat, and makes you feel very welcome. My fiancée and I had a wonderful time.
The location is near both San Jose and Braulio Carillo, but just far enough to get you away from any bustle. The neighbors are also very kind and welcoming. We had a bit of trouble finding it (because I had failed to copy down the GPS coordinates so it was completely my fault, but one of Maria's neighbors (also named Maria) took us in, gave us coffee and snacks, then called Maria to get us instructions on how to get there before sending us.
We would absolutely stay here again.
Thank you for a peaceful and serene stay at your Casa Del Pozo farm suite. Was blessed by the company of your beautiful & sweet dog too! I will let my friends know about San Isidro de Heredia! Also, thank you so much to my taxi driver Carlos-he was awesome! Gracias!!
Stay in San Isidro if you:
1) Can speak some Spanish
2) Don't mind getting lost w/your own rental car & GPS
3) Taxi drivers are nice but get lost too :)
4) Want to be close to trails, coffee plantations, volcanoes, and zip lining!
5) Want to be in a more remote location with gorgeous nature

The night before we left AZ for Costa Rica, we were informed that Casa del Pozo was being utilized by family for an emergency, and she gave us the option to stay Casa del Lago (larger 2 bdrm house) at no extra charge. She informed us that another couple would be staying there for our first night (their fourth night). The couple was very nice. We dined out that night to give them privacy.
Pros- The property is a large farm, spread out with a few homes that I assume are where some of the family stays, and some renters as well. The view of San Jose is gorgeous. There are two dogs (we love dogs)- they are outside day and night and roam free around the property. There is also a white horse on the property that roams freely. Full kitchen for cooking. It is peaceful and quiet.
Hortencia- Maria's daughter was at a house on the property and is available to call for a Taxi (Spanish required to find the place) and provide information about local tours available. She was very helpful. The LaPaz waterfall gardens are about 1 hour away, as well as a national rainforest reserve.
Cons- The property is off the beaten path. We chose this home to be close to San Jose for our last 2 days before flying out. It is probably a 30-40 minute drive to the airport, but you have to consider the crazy traffic. It is EXTREMELY difficult to find the property. We did not have a rental car so our driver from Lake Arenal gladly shuttled us. He is from this area and it still took us 45 minutes to find the place. She does provide a map and directions to your email, but the city itself has no street names so it's just difficult. We were able to contact her by phone and she helped us get there. Without a rental car, it is almost impossible to do anything from this location. You cannot walk to any nearby markets, bars, restaurants. There is a taxi driver that they use, but he doesn't work 24/7. There was one Italian restaurant that we found near the home that was very good. We reserved the place originally for two nights, but left after the first night to stay in a hotel in the city so we wouldn't have any issues with getting to the airport...and so we could have access to things to do.
Overall, we do recommend the place if you have a rental car. It is cozy and quiet, so if you want to relax and read and get away, maybe this is perfect for you. We toured the country for 10 days and used private transfer services, so we did not have a rental car, and we are a younger couple that likes to dine out and have easy to access to bars/markets/ etc.
