In the Aug. 16 photo gallery posted on the Forbes Magazine website, Kapaa is described as having “a small-town Polynesian paradise quality that feels much more connected to the island’s past,” that is “unlike the high-rise strewn beaches that line so many of Hawaii’s stretches of coast.”

“It’s a very Hawaiian town with traditional ukulele makers and fish taco trucks parked under the palm trees.” Evans wrote. “It’s a small town with a lot of Hawaiian life, minus the tourist fray.”

  • I really enjoyed my time here. The room was very nice and had access to a relaxing patio and backyard. There was also a really friendly cat that would come visit me and I liked that. I felt very comfortable staying here and I would definitely go back. Cyndie is a super nice person and I really enjoyed talking with her as well.

  • Staying at Auntie Cyndies was a lovely experience - she made me feel welcomed from the first minute and it was great to meet her in person! The organization part was easy and her feedback always very fast - Doug, her husband, picked me up from the airport and dropped me off again. This was very helpful since I did not have a car.

The beautiful house is located in a very lush setting and you can see the ocean - the room was very clean, nicely decorated and had everything I needed. I had my personal entrance and terrace and even though the house was (I think) fully booked and the rooms are right next to/above each other, I barely saw/heard my neighbors.

It's probably more convenient to rent a car but even without, you can enjoy the town of Kapa'a with its restaurants, shops and beaches. Renting a bike to ride along the Ocean Bike Route is a must!

Cyndie made sure that I was taken good care of - especially with a daily dose of tomatoes fresh from the gardens...I really think I have to come back for Avocado season...

I would definitely recommend Cyndie's place - you can just tell that she likes to host and she provides lots of information on Kaua'i (incl. books and restaurant information upon arrival).

  • Aloha!
I loved Cydies beautyful place, it was exactly what I needed for my stay on Kauai. Cyndie is a lovely host and she gave alot of good advice & tips about nice places to go to. I appreciated that very, very much. It's also close to the beach and to Kapaa town with nice restaurants and shops. I would love to come back again on my next trip to Kauai.
I can recomend to stay at Cyndies place from the deepest of my heart.
    Mahalo!

  • Cyndies Tropical Oasis is just amazing! The house is huge, our room was very big and very clean. We had arrived quite late and it was already dark. Cyndie was so nice to help us to find her house.

She has so much space around the house and with the car it is absolutely not far to Kapaa town or to beaches or to Lihue.

We have enjoyed our stay with her very much and can absolutely recommend her. Thank you for having made our stay so comfortable! Will be pleased to come back one day.

  • We stayed at Cindy's for a week and it was awesome. We got organic apple bananas from the property during the whole stay.

The place was very quiet and it was magic to enjoy the deck at night to watch the stars with the tropical birds singing.

I'll stay there again if I have the chance to go to Kauai one more time.

  • Auntie Cyndie's place was fantastic - clean and spacious in a very peaceful location just a few minutes drive to Kapa'a town.
Cyndie was a lovely host - very friendly and helpful, and had laid out a set of travel guides and recommendations when we arrived. I would definitely recommend to a friend

  • We had such a wonderdul time in this beautiful place! The room is so great!!! Large, plesant, comfy with every thing you nedd to feel well! Cyndie was very nice too, before our arrival she put some biers in the fridge and let us help ourselves with fresh fruits! She lent us beach towel and chairs! Don't hesitate one instant, is definitly the place you are looking for in Kauai!

  • I think this is a great place to stay. Cyndie is a wonderful host. Although this room is a part of the home it was very quiet and peaceful, I dont think I woke up once in a week and a half stay. Roosters seem to be far away enough to not be an issue(unlike a place my parents stayed). The bed is comfortable, bathroom sports a big tub, there's a beautiful view from the patio and the large property is wonderfully landscaped. The location is good for neutral travel to both ends of the island highway and it's reasonably close to the airport. Located up the hill out of Kapaʻa - a great town on the island for dining (good selection/price ... food is really expensive up north in comparison).

  • We stayed in Cyndies house for six nights and we really enjoyed it!
Having a coffee in the early morning in front of the door and having the first sunbath of the day was great! The room was very comfortable and clean and Cyndie a very polite and helpful host. We didn't see her much, but when we had a question she was there and helped us! Thank you very much and all the best for you and Doug!

  • It doesn't get any better than Kauai! Lush green jungles and beautiful beaches- you can't go wrong! Cyndie was a great host, and the room is the perfect space for nice relaxing stay. Beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding mountains. The house is right up the hill from Kealia beach, great for sunbathing, surfing and boogie boarding. Cyndie also has fresh fruit and veggies from her property available daily, avocados, bananas and limes! We had a great stay and cannot wait to go back.
