If you are looking for a wonderful get-a-way, this cabin is fantastic. Upstairs offers a fully stocked kitchen, love seat, gas fireplace, 40" Flat Screen TV., Log queen bed, full bath and table w/ chairs for 4. Go out onto the oversized upper deck and enjoy the view of Mt. Yonah while cooking on the gas grill or sitting in our rockers. We also have a patio set on the deck. Heavily wooded lot with plenty of privacy. Downstairs offers a king size bed, large 36' TV., full bath, hot tub and pool table.
Keep in mind the many places to see and activities offered so close by. Visit Sautee Nacoochee and stop by the Old Sautee Store, built in 1873. The entrance is like a museum. Everything remains in the store as it was when it closed down in the early 1900's. More modern items and gifts available in the new addition in the back. Travel the Georgia Wine Hwy. Take in the Gold Rush town of Dahlonega with just about a 30 minute drive. Of course, Anna Ruby Falls and Unicoi State park are just a 10 mile drive or so to the North side of Helen. There are many water falls in the area including one called Dry Falls, just inside the N.C line. This one is unique in that you can walk behind the waterfall under the rock overhang. Beautiful site! Take time to visit Smithgall Woods and Tallulah Gorge and walk across the swing bridge. Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia. Beautiful!
We have provided a complete Picnic Pack for your convenience, located in the cabin. Take this along with you for the day and enjoy the beautiful sites that the North Georgia Mountains have to offer. Check out georgiatrails com for more suggestions of places to see. You'll want to return for many years to come, as many of our guest do.

We won't get a chance to meet you when you arrive. We will provide you with access to the home prior to your arrival.
Nice and private, especially when the leaves are on the trees. During the winter months you have a wonderful view of Mt. Yonah, but when the trees are full, it's a bit more difficult to see. A few other cabins in the area.
You will need your own transportation. Public is not available. There are so many wonderful things to see that you will want to be able to go see them. Brasstown Bald (the highest point in GA), waterfalls, state parks, etc.

We had a great time Sweet Retreat! The heat was on and the hot tub was ready for soaking as soon as we got there. All of the cooking supplies we needed to make a feast were provided and there was even ground coffee and filters provided for the coffee maker. It is clear that Patty takes a lot of pride in providing her guests with a comfortable and convenient place to enjoy Helen and the surrounding area. It's definitely a place I would plan to stay at again.
Check-in was very easy and we love the cabin! The pool table was so much fun and there were plenty of little touches, like a bluetooth-enabled media player, that really made our stay enjoyable. LOVED having a (gas) fireplace on Christmas! Location is great, just 15 minutes or so to Helen. Very good value and would definitely stay again.
The cabin was very well kept. We arrived after dark and there was a light left on inside for us, which was extremely helpful and considerate. The kitchen was well stocked and allowed us to enjoy a full homemade dinner. There was even coffee (which was helpful considering we forgot to get some!). The hot tub was clean, as was the rest of the house. The only thing that didn't work for us was the gas fireplace, but I texted Patty and she suggested the fix. She said it got pretty hot, so we didn't even end up using it since it is still only fall.
(website hidden) maps doesn't know how to get you the last few minutes to the cabin, so the directions she provides before hand are good to have on hand. The location is not too close or too far from Helen. You can see another (identical) cabin as your neighbor, but you're still far enough away to enjoy your own peace and quiet.
In late September, the view from the back of the cabin was just trees, but I imagine later in fall you can see more of a view.
Overall, the cabin was the perfect getaway for the 4 of us girlfriends. And having two bathrooms was a total plus (almost necessary) for a group of girls! I will definitely keep this in mind for a future small getaway.
This place is just to wonderful for words. Had great contact with Patty via email and that was all that was really needed. The cabin is exactly as described, and then some. Enjoy the hot tub several times and was especially relaxing at night. The place was spotless and had everything needed, including Yahtzee! Would go back and recommend to anyone.
This cabin was perfect for our quick weekend getaway. We loved the location and the all of the amenities were exactly as described, if not better. We had tons of privacy and the house was well stocked with all of the necessities. The pool table was awesome. I've stayed in cabins with pool tables before and they were always the small cheap ones. This one was NICE! My wife schooled me at least 4 times in the short time we were there. The host was easy to deal with. The location was perfect. The cabin was perfect. The host was perfect. We will definitely consider staying here when we come back!
We were not able to stay @ Sweet Retreat Cabin due to a bursted water pipe, but Patty contacted me immediately and found us another place! She was great too work with and the new cabin had the same amenities as the Sweet Retreat cabin...So we were able to enjoy a nice relaxing weekend! Thanks Patty and we do want to stay at the "Sweet Retreat Cabin" soon!
This cabin was well worth the investment. Ton's of room, very cozy and relaxing. Exactly what we were looking for. Only a few minutes from some amazing hiking as well. Would definitely love to stay here again!

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Chattahoochee River, this Northeast Georgia village has a rich history linked to the Cherokee Indians and Indian burial mounds as well as early settlers who arrived to mine for gold and cut virgin timber for a thriving lumber industry in the early 1900s. Helen is a re-creation of an alpine village complete with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers. We've got shopping, camping, both rustic and luxury mountain cabins, restaurants, theater, recreation, romantic getaways, beautiful scenery, family activities, waterfalls, museums, history, art, fishing, tubing, golf, and more. Something for every member of the family.
Festivals and special events include a hot air balloon race, Winefest, Volksmarch, Oktoberfest and Christmas parades, Fourth of July fireworks, and Bavarian Nights of Summer. From mid-September through October, Helen hosts the longest Oktoberfest in the South. Alpenfest offers entertainment during the Holiday season from Thanksgiving through December.
