The Space

Rest, recharge, compose a Golden Globe winning soundtrack, or just spend quality time with your family/friends! This peaceful Ojai home/art space has a custom made Asian-style bed in the master bedroom, perfect for sleeping in on Saturday mornings. Second bedroom for massage or yoga, drumming practice or office/extra space as well. If your party is 4 people or a family, the queen sized wrought iron bed in that room is comfortable and charming. Kitchen is stocked with cookware and dishes....If you choose to stroll the half block to Sunday Farmers Market and make something to eat- otherwise you are steps from the heart of downtown Ojai where a wide array of coffee shops, organic foods, Italian, Thai, Mexican, gourmet, sushi, pubs, pizza and a good old-fashioned ice cream store await. Walk to the movies (they start at seven here) bars or the park and tennis courts. Yes, there is a sweet kitty, (Beale) but she stays outside, so please don't let her in. Ojai was recently voted the #2 Top Small City in California, and you'll be able to appreciate everything it has to offer from this prime spot!

Kids/Families welcome :) Comfortable for 4-6 people.

Bring your golf clubs and play a round at Soule Park or the Ojai Valley Inn golf course. Or take a ten minute drive to the famous hot springs, walk up to hiking trails and get an "Easy A" view of the entire Ojai Valley.

Fabulous bodywork available onsite. Modalities include; but are not included to, Sports/Shiatsu/Swedish massage. $150/hour- Indoors in the second bedroom (metal bed pictured is not in the room) or outside on the fenced porch if the weather permits. Artwork for sale on site, so if you like it, ask about it!

Guest Access

Stocked kitchen (regular cooking tools, dishes, glasses, etc), whole-house access. Wi-fi (pw will be provided) as well.

Interaction with Guests

As much/little as they would like :)

The Neighborhood

We live in the DIRECT center of downtown Ojai, and yet our guests regularly comment on how quiet and peaceful it is.

Getting around

Easy access to Ojai Trolley, Ventura County Transit (Line #16 is 2 blocks away and runs hourly, see Gold Coast Transit for details) and a 2 minute or less walk to all of downtown Ojai.

Other Things to Note

We really just want you to relax and enjoy yourself in a peaceful, beautiful area. Less rules, more fun. Please help yourself to the lemons and (in season) loquats on the trees.

  • I loved my time in Ojai at Maya and Robert's colorful home. A total artist's recharge - I spent my mornings enjoying coffee on the porch, in the peaceful lush front yard with my doggies..hitting downtown two blocks away for lunch breaks and wandering into cool shops. Awesome handmade bed, I slept like a baby. It's a cozy cottage, good for a couple or small family, with all the amenities & trimmings to host home cooked meals, together time around the fireplace, or bring back some good eats from the farmers market and pour a glass of local wine. Mellow and full of fun character. Just like the hosts! Great people who took care of everything, Maya and Robert are the kind of couple that make AirBnB as cool as it is. A pleasure getting to know them and the inviting home they've created.

  • We stayed in the artists studio, and thought it was just perfect. It had everything we needed for a quite getaway. We especially enjoyed the various pamphlets and books on ojai that allowed us to easily choose what we wanted to do during out stay. We would definitely come back again and can't say enough good about Maya and Robert. They so nicely allowed us to reschedule our visit when we had a family emergency and were so understanding of the situation. We look forward to the day that we are able to return to Ojai and stay at this cute and unique location.

  • Located in the heart of Ojai within walking distance from everything, it is very convenient. We had a bit of trouble getting into the house at first, but once we were in, it was cozy, comfortable and charming. We very much enjoyed our stay.

  • Maya and Robert were lovely hosts. They were both welcoming and helpful. Maya provided me with lots of great tips for Santa Barbara and Robert showed me his amazing woodwork and sculptures. Airbnb guests get their bedroom and they stay in a separate (creative and beautiful) structure on their property, so the bedroom and it's adjoined bath-shared with the second bedroom, but not in use-it is quite private. Make sure you ask directions to the Mexican bakery that makes delicious breakfast burritos (and opens at 5, which is helpful if your internal clock is on an Eastern time zone).

About
I'm a wedding planner/floral designer from the last small beach town in Southern California. My husband Robert is an amazing artist (he built the beds you'll be sleeping in and did most of the artwork you will find on the property) designer and sculptor, and he is a highly skilled massage/bodywork therapist with clients ranging from professional athletes to those in wheelchairs - and everyone in between! Please let us know if you would like to book a massage with him. We love: Traveling (Hawaii is a big one, as we have family there, but we have been to Japan, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, England, Thailand, Cambodia, Costa Rica ...to name a few) the beach, watersports, volleyball, art, music, (good) design, Pixar movies, gardening (well, ONE of us does...I am much better at working with cut flowers..). We love traveling in the States as well, our big favorites are exploring our home California coast, San Francisco, Hawaii, Yosemite, Aspen Valley in Colorado, and the beaches anywhere we can find them. Things I can't live without: English Tea, the latest book I'm reading, Thai or Indian (read: SPICY!) food, tempranillo, viognier, champagne, dark chocolate, my husband, Radiohead, our kitty Smalls/Bittle/Beale (she's not picky) my iPhone. Not in that order. We spend quite a bit of time working on our 1927 California cottage house....Most recently, we added beautiful stone to our front porch and stairs. It gets nicer all the time here, so come on back, something is sure to be different! Please ask if you like something, it may be available for purchase! As hosts, we love to give local recommendations, tips and things to do, but are also mindful of your vacation needs, which may simply be for some much-needed down time.
