The space

Rest, recharge, compose a Golden Globe winning soundtrack, or just spend quality time with your family/friends!

This peaceful Ojai home/art space has a custom made Asian-style bed in the master bedroom, perfect for sleeping in on Saturday mornings. Second bedroom for massage or yoga, drumming practice or office/extra space as well. If your party is 4 people or a family, the queen sized bed in that room is comfortable and charming. Kitchen is stocked with cookware and dishes....If you choose to stroll the half block to Sunday Farmers Market and make something to eat- otherwise you are steps from the heart of downtown Ojai where a wide array of coffee shops, organic foods, Italian, Thai, Mexican, gourmet, sushi, pubs, pizza and a good old-fashioned ice cream store await. Ojai was recently voted the #2 Top Small City in California, and you'll be able to appreciate everything it has to offer from this prime spot!

Kids/Families welcome :) Comfortable for 4 or a family.

Bring your golf clubs and play a round at Soule Park or the Ojai Valley Inn golf course. Or take a ten minute drive to the famous hot springs, walk up to hiking trails and get an "Easy A" view of the entire Ojai Valley.

Fabulous bodywork available onsite. Modalities include; but are not included to, Sports/Shiatsu/Swedish massage. $120/hour- You don't even have to leave the premises! Artwork for sale on site, so if you like it, ask about it!

Stocked kitchen (regular cooking tools, dishes, glasses, etc), washer/dryer, fireplace, whole-house (website hidden) and Dvd player and Wi-fi (password will be provided) as well. SUMMER GUESTS PLEASE NOTE: Please note: The house stays cool with fans 90% of the year. For summer, there is an a/c unit in the master bedroom window with fan/temp control. (There isn't a box to indicate this on my end, so I had to mark yes on A/C. Sorry for any confusion this may cause you!

We live in the DIRECT center of downtown Ojai, and yet our guests regularly comment on how quiet and peaceful it is. One minute walk to Farmers' Market, and go to sleep listening to the crickets.

Easy access to Ojai Trolley, Ventura County Transit (Line #16 is 2 blocks away and runs hourly, see Gold Coast Transit for details) and a 2 minute or less walk to all of downtown Ojai.

We really just want you to relax and enjoy yourself in a peaceful, beautiful area. Less rules, more fun. Please help yourself to the lemons and (in season) loquats on the trees.

Interaction with guests

We are here in our own space when we are not visiting our families :) Bao (say "Bow-wow") is our friendly new puppy, still learning his job) is our "security guard/entertainment/fitness coach". He is a young Rat Terrier/Chihuahua/Jack Russell/taquito with legs who is still learning his place in our "pack" & general duties/manners. He stays with us and is really a very good boy.

Other things to note

Most of the art on the walls was done by us or other local artists - if you like anything, just ask and it is likely to be for sale!

We stayed at this lovely home for 3 nights with out two small dogs. Maya and Robert were terrific hosts and always available to answer questions. The bed was super comfortable. Robert made it, and much of the furniture and sculpture - it was all beautiful. Good shower pressure. Incredibly conveniently located! Would stay here again. Had a great and relaxing vacation.

Along with a thoughtful, homemade card to welcome us and give us pertinent information, Maya was also readily available, warm and friendly and came to greet us shortly after our arrival. She and her husband, Robert, live on the premises and are quiet and respectful as well as friendly and helpful. Her home has an artistic decor which is comfortable and homey and the kitchen was charming and well-equipped. The neighborhood is quiet, residential in a friendly community, while being only a block or two from Ojai's downtown shops and the local farmers' market.

This space was awesome. We came up for a wedding and it couldn't have been more convenient to town centre, food, and the venue. Plus Maya and her husband were super hospitable, gave us the low down on local spots, and very chill. We accidentally adopted a stray kitten late one night that were kind enough to help us sort it out and donated a cat carrier to the cause (she's happily living in Flagstaff now). Overall they went over and above.

I only landed up staying one night at Maya’s place because my plans abruptly changed, so never really got to settle in. Notwithstanding the strict cancellation policy at the Ojai Artists' Home, Maya was very gracious and flexible about accommodating this change and made provisions for me to stay next time I’m in town.

We felt extremely taken care of by our hosts from the moment we arrived. Maya went beyond the call of duty to assure that our stay in Ojai was a good one. My girls adored her and we are hoping to stay there again soon! The house is as described and in fact even prettier in person. It is a cozy stay with everything one could need while on vacation. It is also so close to town which was quite enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this home!!!

I'm a wedding planner/floral designer from the last small beach town in Southern California. My husband Robert is an amazing artist (he built the beds you'll be sleeping in and did most of the artwork you will find on the property) designer and sculptor, and he is a highly skilled massage/bodywork therapist with clients ranging from professional athletes to those in wheelchairs - and everyone in between! Please let us know if you would like to book a massage with him.

We love: Traveling (Hawaii is a big one, as we have family there, but we have been to Japan, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, England, Thailand, Cambodia, Costa name a few) the beach, watersports, volleyball, art, music, (good) design, Pixar movies, gardening (well, ONE of us does...I am much better at working with cut flowers..). We love traveling in the States as well, our big favorites are exploring our home California coast, San Francisco, Hawaii, Yosemite, Aspen Valley in Colorado, and the beaches anywhere we can find them.

Things I can't live without: English Tea, the latest book I'm reading, Thai or Indian (read: SPICY!) food, tempranillo, viognier, champagne, dark chocolate, my husband, Radiohead, our kitty Smalls/Bittle/Beale (she's not picky), our "JackRat" puppy Bao and my iPhone. Not in that order.

We spend quite a bit of time working on our 1928 California cottage house....Most recently, we added beautiful stone to our front porch and stairs, new stones my husband collected outside as hardscape, and a new collection of planter boxes to the grounds. It gets nicer all the time here, so come on back, something is sure to be different! Please ask if you like something, it may be available for purchase!

As hosts, the most frequent comment we hear is, "you need to raise your prices" - and our answer is, "nope". We want to provide you with an AMAZING experience & we love to give local recommendations, tips and things to do. What we want you to do as guests? Enjoy OJAI !! Get the appetizer, bottle of wine, souvenir from one of the local shops- that is why we keep our pricing as low as we possibly can. We are mindful of your needs, which may simply be for some much-needed down time.
