Tony's place is in a quiet residential community. The complex has security as well as a public pool for the guests to use. The room has it's own private bathroom with hot and cold water. Hot water in the shower is not always typical in the DR as opposed to the US. The room also has a nice strong fan but no a/c which I know Tony is working on. The wi-fi signal in the house is strong. There's Netflix in the living room, which helps pass the time on rainy days. Tony provided clean drinking water for the duration of my stay. His house also has a washer and dryer, which dryers aren't always typical in the DR as well. The house has screens on all of the windows to protect against mosquitos, though I suggest always to bring some type of mosquito spray in case one of those little buggers get in at night. Lol. This is a shared location, his private residence where he currently resides and currently has roommates. The roommates were really nice. Tony and one room mate are from Spain and we had wonderful conversations about our countries, cultures and customs. Tony even cooked a Spanish omelet for me which was delicious! I had company most days of my stay and Tony as well as his roommates were hospitable to them. The location was a little challenging as I am use to staying in Los Corales where markets and restaurants are really close. This is Villas Bavaro. Palma Real (has a grocery and high end shopping) is maybe a 15 minute walk. San Juan shopping center (has a grocery, three banks with ATM, Western Union, Pizza Hut, a movie theater, icecream, spa with massage, and shopping mall) will require a motoconcho (200 pesos each way) or a bus ride (50 pesos each way). When taking the bus back make sure to have them drop you off at IFA Villas and resort. Closer to Tony's house is a gas station, pharmacy, Itialian restaurant and a money exchange. The gas station has a tiny restaurant inside where you can order pizza, pasta, empanadas and such as well as to buy water and snacks. Jelly Fish beach is nearby as well. Tony himself provides an excursion for surfing, paddle boats and horse back riding for a nominal fee. Overall I felt safe in this neighborhood and had a pleasant stay.

Antonio's place is cheap, but it may make sense to pay a little more to go somewhere else. He is a nice guy, but the place is kind of dirty and not exactly a place to have a relaxing vacation. It's a 3 bedroom townhome with 2 other roommates besides Antonio. While he has guests stay over for Airbnb, Antonio clears out his clothes and sleeps on the couch. So it's actually his own room that he is renting out through Airbnb. Antonio is nice and so are his roommates, but I wish he would have advertised the place more accurately. My girlfriend and I were supposed to stay at his place for 9 nights, but after 4 nights there we ended up leaving and booking a hotel room near the beach so we could have an actual vacation.

We stayed for almost 2 weeks and didn't have one moment That we felt uncomfortable. Antonio gives you good information about everything you need to know as a tourist. If you want to do a daytrip he'll help you with iT and arrange iT So you have a real vacation feeling. You need to worry about nothing. Close by is a supermarket So you can make your own food and feel even more home. You have really good WiFi. I recommand iT!

Antonio was a very nice host and tried to help us with anything we needed. The house is located in a safe area. It was approx 20 min walk to the beach and it was mostly resorts along the beach. 10-15 min walk from the house you could find a big supermarket. Again, Thank you for everything Antonio!

Antonio was really great host, very helpful. He was very welcoming during my and my girlfriend stay in his house. He gave use lots of information about the city, where we can go, how to get somewhere, what the prices are etc. He helped us to set up exurcsion to Saona Island - definetly one of the best place in Dominican Republic :) We spent really good time with him, we were talking a lot, playing the quitar together, he prepared for us delicious dinner (pasta with shrimps, garlic, paprika and tomato sauce) in the last day. The room was clean and neat, we could use his kithcen also. The apartment was located in safe and nice neighborhood, we could use a common swimming pool :) Around 20 minutes walk to Jellyfish beach, 15 minutes to supermarket, pretty far to other beaches. Wifi was not available (I know that Antonio wants to change it!), the closest wifi spot was nearby supermarket, so not really far. I would definitely recommend it!

Antonio was a great guest, super friendly and he took us out to some great spots in the city. He is a surfing and paddleboard instructor so you can get a good price on surf lessons and SUP/horseback riding excursions. The room was basic but clean, with good airflow. The appartment had a livingroom with TV and an equiped kitchen. Antonio payed for drinking water and even allowed us to use some of his food before we went to the supermarket. Located in a safe and clean neighborhood, about 20 minute walk to jellyfish beach, 15 minutes to palma real mall, but pretty far to the city center or other beaches. Take a moto-taxi (2$ per person) to get around! Wifi is not available, need to get it in restaurants or bars. Location is not the best, since it is far from city center and also because it is a rich neighborhood that doesn't feel very Dominican. Cheapest price you can get in Bavaro, and great experience!

I was born in Spain and lived many years in Lanzarote, Ibiza and Mallorca until I discovered this beautiful spot here. Together with three partners I run a small surf school in Uvero Alto Beach. Being a surf and stand-up paddling instructor is my passion. Surfing is my favorite water sport. My friends say about me that I’m fun, easy going and very friendly. I love the Spanish cuisine and enjoy cooking paellas – my specialty.

I will be glad to show my guests how to discover the sweet spots, find the best tours around the island, the best surf spots, the best beaches. And if you like you can join for a paddle river trip.

I'm fluent in Spanish and speak also English. I love to welcome people from all over the world in my humble home.
