Description

The space

The open dining and living area is setup to have a comfortable place to work or relax. There's a separate communal work area with multiple desks.

3 bedrooms - 1 private and 2 shared rooms
2 full bathrooms

Guest access

All utilities are included and free WIFI.

Clean linens/bedding, pillow and blanket are provided.

Why would someone say light cooking? Home prepped meals really warms up the house and it's encouraged.

Interaction with guests

It's a house full of people & different schedules. So please use ear plugs if necessary. If you're a light sleeper or can't sleep on a single mattress, this may not be the right place for you.

We are a very communal/respectful group and strive to provide space for everyone to work and hangout. Remember that work, musical instruments and books take precedence over the television.

The neighborhood

Daly City is a location that fits the budget and only an 8 minute walk to Bart! It only takes 20 minutes to downtown San Francisco.

Getting around

The Colma BART Station is only an 8 minute walk from the house.

Other things to note

Cleaning

Although I didn't meet Vic the stay at his place was great. The apartment was clean and the directions to get there were clear.

It was my fist time staying in a shared room as I travelled to SF for a short trip, and I must say I absolutely enjoyed the experience. Vic was extremely accommodating and kept in touch through the whole time. Will definitely be back!

The apartment was very big, and the sleeping rooms very nice. The sleeping room we stood in, had an own bathroom, we liked this a lot. We shared the bathroom with some ants, but it didn't botherd us. The kitchen was big and had everything important inside, but the plates and the equipment was dirty and we had to wash it before using, maybe because many persons share the kitchen. We never had the chance to kno Vic by person, but it seems that he is a really nice guy. He invited us to his New-years-party(thanks again for that) and was always friendly in his emails. Hacker Home is a good place to stay.

I stayed in Vic's Hackerhome in Daly City for one week and had a great time. I never actually met Vic but he was helpful in giving directions to the apartment and quick in responding by mobile when I had a problem opening the door. Shub, who manages the accommodation was super friendly, very helpful and great company. There were on a few other people staying when I was there but through this place I met some nice people. The Hackerhome was always clean and quiet and had everything you would need to cook and store your food. This was my first Airbnb experience and it was a good one. Daly City/Colma isn't a hub of activity but the Hackerhome is so close to the Bart station you don't notice. There was a nice Mexican restaurant nearby, a cool sandwich place near the station and a few convenience stores. All in all, a good experience!

I didn't get to meet Vic but I had fun in my stay. Bunk-bed style homes can be a mixed bag but I've always had a good experience with them and was the same situation here. Made a few cool friends. There were a couple of people that just stuck to themselves and talked to no one, but it's not a big deal. The place never feels cramped so if you just want to relax and be on your laptop, there will be enough room in the main living/dining area. The roof window panels in the bathrooms are really good for lighting in the morning. Slightly bad: Only thing that makes things a little tense is that some people don't clean up after themselves but that's not really in the host's power to change. Bunk beds are a little uncomfortable and squeaky. The home is in Daly City so for those wondering, it's on the residential side and yes, there isn't much to do unless you go to SF. You can get to downtown SF on BART in about 25 minutes. Colma BART is a 5 minute walk away. Safe area.
