  • Amecus was a great host with a wonderful home full of opportunities to recharge from a long and tiring trip!

First off, Amecus was very gracious and welcoming of me despite the fact that my long travel time caused me to arrive late. She greeted me cheerfully anyway and showed me around before I went to bed. However, get there in time guys and show Amecus some consideration for her sleep! (sorry Amecus)

The house is amazing in a way I’ve never seen. Amecus has this extraordinary ability to take common, everyday things, add life and color to them and make them something fantastic. If you haven’t looked at the images she’s posted of all her rooms, do so now, and then realize that they can’t begin to accurately detail just how soothing, inviting and restful these rooms really are.

I slept in the blue room, or Pitta room labeled “Chickens & Rabbits & Goats, OH MY!” Blue is my favorite color, so this was perfect for me.

The room is so inviting. Once you walk in and sit down, you’ll see how the custom art by Amecus and the creative adornments provide an atmosphere of calm and tranquility that no hotel room, and I mean not a single one, has ever done for me. The multitude of pillows from the soft fuzzy ones to the cool silky ones which feel like liquid comfort to the memory foam mega pillow all create one perfect experience of sensory contentment. Amecus, however long it’s taken for you to assemble all this…it’s worth it. I have never had such wonderful sleep anywhere else. That alone is worth this booking.

But there is more to this stay than the bed alone. I sat in the room and looked around the art and what I thought was black rock wall tile, including a little night stand I thought was a glass-topped glittering rock gem. So when I touched it, and lifted up the expertly painted plastic-covered cardboard stand, I was pleasantly surprised. There are not many artists who can create such a convincing piece of work, but Amecus did.

Amecus makes AMAZING baked goods. Ask to try some, because I bit into a delicious spicy morsel and I was quite literally stunned by the flavor. You won’t find that taste anywhere else. I know I haven’t.

I talked with Amecus for about half an hour over breakfast. We shared our experiences and she was very eager to listen. She also has a shy 14-year old fluffy dog named Athena (who is weary of visitors, but keeps her distance). Amecus also has adorable pets like poof the bunny, chickens, goats and even little bird visitors who fly in to visit her backyard!

There is a reason Amecus has oodles of reviews on airbnb. She has taken the time and care to develop a great inviting experience and if you’re strolling through Albuquerque anytime soon, book your night with Amecus and you’ll experience rest like no other!

  • Breakfast was the highlight of our stay with Amecus! The rest of the stay was comfortable and pleasant. Amecus has many good recommendations for restaurants and activities.

  • Great spot in ABQ! Amecus was welcoming and kind, and made a lovely breakfast in the morning. My favorite little touch was a yoga mat in the room, perfect for a weary, stiff traveler. Would certainly stay again!

    March 2014
  • Staying with Amecus was delightful! Not only was she very patient when we couldn't open the door late at night but she also makes the most amazing vegan muffins..

    March 2014
  • Amecus could not be more accommodating. She has decorated her home with an artist's flare. Loved that she has a mini-spa set up and spent lots of time in her electric massafe chair after a long day of driving. Also, breakfast was one of the best I have had in an airbnb. A good place to land for sure

    March 2014
  • I had a great time staying at Amecuss house she is a very wonderful host. She makes you feel very welcome, she is close to everything you need. I highly recommend staying here if you have the chance.

    March 2014
  • Amecus was great! Lovely place and great neighborhood.

    March 2014
  • Amecus was friendly, warm, and ready to give us (my 15-year-old daughter and I) whatever information we needed. The room was cozy and the down to earth style that Amecus had made us feel right at home. We never even saw any other guests although I think there were 1 or 2.

Amecus has a wide variety of interesting pastimes, like kombucha-brewing and unique art projects that make this place really fun, never mind her menagerie of animals in the backyard, from bunnies hiding under pallets to a couple fuzzy sweet goats, and her array of spa machines add to the adventure. Her muffins and fritatta (sp?) were delicious. Fun place!

    March 2014
  • It was wonderful to stay with Amecus. Meeting and feeding her animals was awesome. I have promised her that I will stay at her property again.
    Thanks.

    February 2014
  • Amecus is very helpful, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the area. The room is comfortable and quiet, and it was fun to meet help feed the animals in the morning! Also, using massage chairs after a long drive was super relaxing.

About
Seven years ago, I nearly died, 9 times. I lived (obviously I am not speaking through the grave), not everyone did. For someone who catches a mere cold only once every 8 years, the 2 year recovery to do basic things like drive a car, plan a meal or sleep, was world shattering. Besides losing my spectacular health, I lost my career and harmed or maimed important relationships, some irreparably. Previous to the experience, I held no debt. After paying medical bills (the largest bills I have ever experienced) I decided, to buy a house for the same amount I spent on the bills and create a healing place so I can rebuild resilient health. I spent a year with the initial remodel of the house but it is an ongoing endeavor. Initially I rented rooms to graduate students and it shows. Lots of reading nooks and desks. I started with airbnb in June 2013 and it has been a great success. I would like to offer the opportunity to stay at my home to people interested. I intend to eventually be a therapeutic foster parent for teens. When this works out, the house will no longer be available. I set up a : ) BOOK ( (website hidden) ) page called Albuquerque Micro-Farm, where you see more pictures, and experience the labyrinth, and small videos of the animals. I am a TEDhead, Life-hacker, U.S. Soldier, Vegetarian, Researcher, Artist, Permaculture Enthusiast, Psychology/Social Work Student. I believe in and constantly strive for resilient health. I've can't resist a dance flash mob :) A 'Foodie', yes I take pictures of food, often. FAVS: Movie: The Wizard of Oz/currently, The Wolverine; Book: The Velveteen Rabbit, and whatever Malcolm Gladwell recently wrote; Music: Lead Me On (Amy Grant), club remixes of pop songs, Super Mashups; Food: Pizza; Destination: My Hammock (w' book); Show: currently, The Fosters, generally The Colbert Report. I have many life mottos: If it doesn't move you, whats the point. No matter how trustworthy he seams, never give your gun to a monkey. You can never trust quotes on the internet- Abraham Lincoln. If life gives you Melons, you may be dyslexic. At the end of the day, the issue is always, the person in the mirror. What doesn't kill you...Will really F*** you up! Never Drink and Derive. If you think you can, or if you think you can't, you are correct; Choose wisely. Should I go this way or that way? Well it depends on where you want to end up.
