About This Listing
This is a cozy garden/beach bungalow with kitchenette and private sunny deck overlooking nature. 5 minute walk to a private beach. Endless paths for walking or riding on More Mesa cliffs.
This bungalow is situated in a beach community near a nature preserve called More Mesa. The rental unit is separate from the main house with a private entrance. Even though it is on the same property, it is very private. It has it's own kitchenette with fridge, water pot, microwave, coffee, tea and utensils. We love the view from the inside looking out the glass doors to the garden. Just trees, flowers, and the meadow beyond. You can sit on your own deck and enjoy the peaceful sunny morning. Its seriously difficult to leave this spot. Its a great place to be if you are artistically inclined.
There is a cute, woodsy bathhouse for, your exclusive use, with shower (hot and cold), eco toilet and sink and a sunning deck overlooking the meadow beyond the creek bed. The bathhouse is under the avocado tree accessible by a foot path about 15 feet from the bungalow.
There is a key to access the beautiful private beach which the guests may use. There are bikes to ride on the bike path North to UCSB and Isla Vista or South to Hope Ranch or on the endless trails of More Mesa. We also have a few surf boards to try out the waves at the nearby beaches of Campus Point, Deverough, or Sands.
Santa Barbara is only a 10 min. drive to downtown.
Interaction with Guests
Marty is a lisenced MASSAGE THERAPIST and Posture Alignment Specialist in the Egoscue method for pain relief. He will do an hour Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, or Sports Massage for 65$ or Egoscue Posture Therapy for $75. He can set up the massage table on the deck of the bungalow.
We give a 1 and 1/2 hr. SURF LESSONS for 80$. 140$ for 2 people. The beach called Campus Point near our house is great for learning. We would interact as much or as little as the guests would like. We will be in the main house or out and about for the most part doing the usual things like working, or gardening or running down for a jump in the water. We try to be home to greet our guests when they arrive, however sometimes we are out. But we always leave instructions on how to enter the bungalow. We have really enjoyed meeting all our guests and we love providing a refreshing and beautiful experience for them.
We love that our neighborhood is quiet and so close to the beach and nature.
It is walking distance to the Beachside Bar Cafe which is a fun place for Happy Hour or morning brunch at 11:00. Walk up the beach to the right for about 15 to 20 minutes at mid to low tide. you'll reach the pier and the cafe. If it's high tide the bike path also gets there.
Other Things to Note
The price of the bungalow includes taxes.
We hope that you will enjoy your stay here. We would like it if you would leave the holiday rental in reasonable order when you leave. Also, there is one key to the beach gate, and since the cost for buying a new one in this housing association is 150.00$, we would have to take that from your security deposit, if the key goes missing. We ensure the deposit will be returned to you unless an extreme circumstance (breakage or loss of key) has occurred.
Please NO SMOKING at the house or in the yard.
If you would like to book for one night we can make special arrangements on certain dates.
But the main rule is that you have an amazing, relaxing time!
My stay was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. This family has done a fabulous job with the decor and functionality of this place. If you love nature you'll appreciate how connected you feel with the outdoors. The room is small but has all the essentials you need. It is nicely decorated and feels cozy and homey. Marty and Carey graciously provide goods, such as: coffee, milk, granola, and utensils. The bathroom is a few yards down from the sleeping quarters. It has warm and cold water. The toilet has no running water; however, I found it easy to use and it's eco friendly. Also, you have access to the neighborhoods private beach, which is only a ten minute walk. Or you can ride one of the many bikes they allow guest to use. Marty and Carey are great hosts and make you feel very welcomed. If you're a nature lover who wants a stress free and relaxing stay in beautiful Santa Barbara I highly recommend you stay here. I wish I was there right now.
Marty and Carey were the perfect hosts. They provided us with everything we needed for a weekend getaway. The Garden Bungalow was better than the description. It was elegant, clean, and very relaxing. This was our first Airbnb stay and it was an incredible experience! We will definitely be using Airbnb again for future trips and hopefully, one day, we will return to the peaceful garden bungalow!
Great Zen Retreat! :D Came here for a short two day vacation and wished I could have stayed longer. Hooting birds at dusk made me relaxed and peaceful. Eco-Toilet was not an issue. No weird smells, and the entire outhouse including shower were beautifully done. Would definitely come to visit again. Just lovely.
We had a fantastic stay at the Garden Cottage! The garden and accommodations were just as described. The eco friendly bath house worked very well and the cottage was private, comfortable and relaxing. We would highly recommend this air BNB to anyone that enjoys a unique stay in the Santa Barbara area.
We had a great experience at Marty and Carey's garden bungalow. This was our first time using Airbnb and it couldn't have gone better. The private beach and the hiking trails were amazing. We can't wait to go back!
Our hosts made us feel very welcome, they were there on our arrival and showed us around. They also let us use their bikes. We loved the serene setting of the bungalow. We enjoyed hiking on the Mesa and the views from the cliffs. The beach is even more beautiful in person!
