About This Listing
This is a futon in a room with your own bathroom. Our house is a 1924 bungalow in close-in Multnomah Village (5-minutes to downtown). The kitchen is yours to use, as is the TV (no cable), but Netflix available), free wifi, back yard, fire pit, barbecue.
We have two cats who you will probably never see, but you should know they're around.
Multnomah Village is a great neighborhood just outside Portland. Over a dozen restaurants, independent book store, gift shops, etc. are literally around the corner from us. Down the street is a 90-acre Gabriel Park with a community center (open to non-residents), walking trails, etc.
The 45 , 44 and 40 bus lines go straight into downtown. Pick up one house away from us. Transit is quick and easy!
The two of us are professionals - Nancy teaches middle school band at Oregon Episcopal School and flute at Lewis & Clark College. Mike is the alumni and parent program director at Reed College. We have a daughter who is in college in Los Angeles and a high-school age son at home.
Our house and neighborhood are unique, quiet, and very friendly.
Although we love pets, because of our shy cats, we ask that you not bring any pets into our home (they might scare Noodle and Tabitha.)
We'll have coffe, tea, cereal, milk, bread and butter and usually juice available each morning. Because we work and get up early, we won't be making breakfast, but you're free to do so in the kitchen.
No pets, please. Feel free to use the kitchen, TV, washer, dryer, etc. - but pick up after yourself when finished. No overnight guests other than those approved ahead of time. We work hard and get up early - please no late-night frivolity. The cats stay in at night - if you arrive home late, please don't let them out. Again, they'll probably hide upstairs and not ask. :)

Nancy and Mike were awesome! I wasn't at the house all that much, and Mike was out of town for most of my time there. Nancy was great at welcoming me to the house, making herself accessible if I needed anything or wanted to chat, but also gave me plenty of privacy. The room is cozy and bed super comfortable. Having a bathroom all to myself was perfect! Their house is just a couple blocks away from a beautiful park perfect for running/walking, and a couple blocks away in the other direction from the Village. I loved being able to walk in to get coffee or a bite. I had no problem getting street parking at any time for my rental car. Neighborhood is lovely and quiet. It only took me 10 minutes via the 5 to get downtown. I'd definitely stay here again!
We felt most welcome here right out of the gate.
Nancy was warm and hospitable and a little extra 'benny' was that she like me is a musician so we had a some extra connection.
'Twas a sweet spot to lay our heads for the night.
The area is delightful as 'the village' is a few minutes walk from the house and is just what we love with great coffee shops, restaurants and other fun and funky shops.
All in all the perfect spot for our very brief stay!
I had a wonderful stay in the "Sun Room" in Nancy's and Mike's home. Their location in Multnomah Village couldn't have been better for me. I just left my car parked outside their home and within a block I could walk to good coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants and unique shops. The room was exactly as described and pictured along with a wonderful private bath. The full-size futon/ bed was surprisingly comfortable and inviting after a long stressful day of driving all over the SW side of Portland, while house hunting. The "Sun Room" was clean, quiet, extra comfy, in a safe environment and very private. In addition I had full access not only to the kitchen and washer/ dryer if I needed them but other areas of their home as well. I couldn't have asked for better hosts. I booked the last minute for a 4 night stay and I wasn't disappointed one moment. My hosts, Nancy and Mike were wonderful! Both are busy people, but were always responsive and knowledgeable about anything Portland and were ready to assist me in any way possible, if I asked. I lost an earring thinking it was somewhere lost in the rain for good, but when I got back home Nancy had already sent an email telling me she had found it on her couch and was ready to mail it back to me! I highly recommend staying with Nancy and Mike in the "Sun Room". What a terrific way to experience Portland! I hope to return soon!

Nancy left us a key and a short note as well as sending an informative text, as they were away for the day when we arrived. Our room was clean, cozy, and filled with art and books! We really enjoyed the patio in the back yard. Nancy's Airbnb was a great home base for our visit to Portland and we enjoyed her hospitality. The location in Multnomah Hills had lots of cafes and restaurants that are walking distance. Thank you!
We had a great time spending a couple days at the sun room. Hosts were great & we had a nice chat with them our first evening. Very happy we stayed in Multnomah as the community is quiet, many little shops to explore & good dining. Would definitely recommend staying at the sun room if you are looking to relax.
About the Host, Nancy
I teach middle school band at Oregon Episcopal School and teach flute and music education at Lewis & Clark College - both in Portland Oregon. I'm a triathlete and a mom of two teenagers. My husband works at Reed College, also in Portland. He is into woodworking, and has recently finished hand-building an entire house on the Oregon coast.
Our house is a one-minute walk from the city busses - number 44 and 45. Check (website hidden) for schedules (we live in Multnomah Village and you can use that as a reference - the bus stop is at the corner of SW 35th and SW Capitol Highway).
I speak passable French and Spanish, our son and daughter are fluent in Spanish and Mike is fluent in German.
