This is a futon in a room with your own bathroom. Our house is a 1924 bungalow in close-in Multnomah Village (5-minutes to downtown). The kitchen is yours to use, as is the TV (no cable), but Netflix available), free wifi, back yard, fire pit, barbecue.
We have two cats who you will probably never see, but you should know they're around.
Multnomah Village is a great neighborhood just outside Portland. Over a dozen restaurants, independent book store, gift shops, etc. are literally around the corner from us. Down the street is a 90-acre Gabriel Park with a community center (open to non-residents), walking trails, etc.
The 45 , 44 and 40 bus lines go straight into downtown. Pick up one house away from us. Transit is quick and easy!
The two of us are professionals - Nancy teaches middle school band at Oregon Episcopal School and flute at Lewis & Clark College. Mike is the alumni and parent program director at Reed College. We have a daughter who is in college in Los Angeles and a high-school age son at home.
Our house and neighborhood are unique, quiet, and very friendly.
Although we love pets, because of our shy cats, we ask that you not bring any pets into our home (they might scare Noodle and Tabitha.)
We'll have coffe, tea, cereal, milk, bread and butter and usually juice available each morning. Because we work and get up early, we won't be making breakfast, but you're free to do so in the kitchen.
Nancy and Mike are really genuine people that made us feel welcome and comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. They were extremely helpful with tips not just about our Portland stay but the rest of our travel as well. Their beautiful house is located in a great little community. Within a one minute walk are nice Pubs, restaurants and cafés. Also extremely close is the bus service which is easy and takes you straight to the heart of downtown. I would definitely recommend "The Sun Room" to anyone.
Good communication, effortless check-in, lovely home, all-over good experience. I was only there for sleeping and the room was ideal for that. Hosts hit the perfect balance of friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Wonderful location in established residential neighborhood yet close to main roads and bus lines.
Had a lovely stay! Nancy and Mike hosted us for a night and gave us great tips for exploring Portland. If in the area, I would definitely stay there again.
My stay at "The Sun Room" was my first experience with Airbnb. The house is absolutely beautiful. Nancy was out of town but her husband, Mike, was very welcoming. I was only there to sleep, but I definitely enjoyed my stay!
The sun room is a cozy quiet little book-lined room. The private bath is nicely remodeled and roomy. It's quick walk to coffee shops & bus, or to a big park if you're a runner. It's a casual and friendly atmosphere, and an overall very nice place to stay.
I really enjoyed my comfortable, sunny room. Nancy and her family are delightful and warmly welcomed me. As a bonus, the quaint Multnomah Village business district is only one block away from their home. Fun restaurants and shops! I look forward to a future return stay in Nancy's lovely home when I return to Portland, and hope she'll share another travel story with me!
Very good and seamless experience. Found the key in the promised location, the room clean and comfortable, the adjacent bathroom even more so. Met both Nancy and Mike briefly; they were very cordial. I don't doubt but that I will stay with them again in the not distant future.
Welcoming hosts and a lovely house in a great neighborhood!
Great hospitality as usual! Nice neighborhood too.
I contacted Nancy about my stay the same day I arrived. She replied quickly and worked out every detail with us. She has beautiful home. No complains. 10/10 Thank you!
