The Plank House Farm is a family homestead. We raise about 2/3 of our own food on 17 acres. We have large gardens of vegetables, fruits, berries, and herbs. We raise chickens, pigs, laying hens, and cows. We hand-milk our cow Gracie, and make our own butter, yogurt, and cheese. We raise and process our own meat on the land (smoke the bacon in the backyard, make sausage in the kitchen). Our land is mostly open pasture, and our house and barn are both over 200 years old. Guest accommodations are a three-bedroom upstairs suite that can comfortably sleep up to 5 adults, and includes a full bath. We are located on a dirt road less than 5 miles from the town of Hardwick, 5 miles from Greensboro and Lake Caspian, and 45 minutes from both Montpelier and St. Johnsbury.
We have a young child and a very friendly dog. The price of stay is $60/night for two people, and $20 per person after that.
We had a great stay. The house and rooms are just as described in photos and listing. We enjoyed getting to know Rose, Justin and Eva and being able to spread out in our own space. Having three connected bedrooms to choose from is a great luxury. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to families traveling with young kids and others looking to unplug and enjoy a couple days on a homestead in the North East Kingdom.
We spent a great couple of days with Rose and Justin -- everything was incredibly easy to coordinate in advance, and we felt very welcome when we arrived. We had a lot of space to ourselves, and also enjoyed breakfast with our hosts, who had many interesting things to say and made great recommendations for things we should see, from Barr Hill to bug art. I hope to return soon!

Rose & Justin took me in at a last minute's notice, and I was able to enjoy the best Airbnb experience I've had yet. True homesteaders, they cooked a wonderful breakfast for me on their wooden stove, with ingredients they had either grown/raised themselves or traded with other local producers. For a guy who now lives in urban San Francisco, it was exactly the Vermont experience I was seeking. Sadly, I had to leave after one night - but I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area!
Rose and Justin's space is extremely comfortable, spacious, clean, and adorned with beautiful and thoughtful art. Breakfast was delicious and Rose was very accommodating about providing us with coffee and tea. We got to participate in cheese-making which was delightful, and Rose gave us very good recommendations for things to see nearby. I love the "offline house" experience, and the window into homesteading family life.
We thank Justin & Rose for opening their home to us. The top floor is very private and comfortable. The accommodations were great for the price.
Rose and Justin were friendly and welcoming; we really enjoyed our one night stay in their spacious farm house. Beautiful area. It's a shame we couldn't stay longer or catch their upcoming show!
First experience with airbnb - overall, positive. Nice house, a lot of space, will recommend for big families/companies, especially if they plan to spend a lot of time in or around the house. Hosts are welcoming; the only drawback (for us, at least) - there is no separate entry to guest's living space.
Great stay on this small holding with Justin, Rose and Eva. Enjoyed hearing about their work both on the farm and off it at the puppet theatre.
Great stay. Whole top floor to myself and thanks for the breakfast. Hope all is going well with the puppet theater and with wee Eva too!
