Soner is a nice host: he waited up for me when I arrived late and he showed me some places on the Asian side of Istanbul. The room is as on the picture and is indeed cosy, with a very comfy bed. To go to the bathroom you have to go downstairs, and cross the living room and the kitchen, which is not always very practical (a food poisoning made me get out of bed several times in the middle of the night and I had to manoeuver down the wooden stairs...). The house is situated in a residential area. Unlike more central parts of Istanbul, you'll have to walk quite a bit to find a place to eat. The advantage is that it is very quiet and I slept very well! The walk to the ferry takes about 20 minutes. I didn't mind this so much in the morning, but in the evening, it was less enjoyable to walk though dark streets up the hill again. All in all, a nice place to stay, although a bit far from interesting spots.

Soner is an incredibly helpful and considerate host. I arrived at 2 am at his place, yet he was waiting for me and welcomed me to his beautiful flat. He also gave me very useful tips, texted back very quickly, turned the heater on as soon as it got a bit nippy and held on to my luggage for a day after I checked out. The place is located in a quiet yet lively neighborhood. The room itself is very cosy and neat, and catches a lot of light in the morning. It also has everything you might need. And most importantly, the bed is Extremely comfortable. I really had an amazing stay at Soner's. I absolutely recommend it.

Soner is a very helpful and friendly man. He also gave me lots of tips about Istanbul. He keeps his flat always clean so it was always comfortable to stay there. The flat is located in a Turkish neighbourhood with many Familiys and is very safe and the people there also very friendly. Everything what you need to live is near many shops. So in my opinion i can recommend you to vistit Soner i had a good time and it was amazing to explore Istanbul

I came to Istanbul to study traditional Arabic calligraphy and Turkish language. Therefore I am staying for a long time. I stayed with Dr. Soner for SIX WEEKS. Dr. Soner is a very respectful and well mannered man. He's usually studying or writing and keeps to himself. Although I was busy with my own schedule and out most of the time, he always offered coffee or breakfast or to go out for a walk. Whenever I had the time, we went for walks to Taksim, Kadıköy, or we drove up to Çamlıca. The house is 50 years old. It's small (comparing American/European standards) but very cosy. The room size is comfortable and there's a nice sized balcony for myself. The area is safe, and the neighbors are friendly. There's a bakery and store right around the corner. There's also a big Carrefour supermarket 7 minutes away (walking). I got all the basic directions from Dr. Soner. The house is a 15 minute walk up to the bus station, and a very enjoyable 30 minutes walk to the center. The center has the ferry station and Marmaray station. Lots of restaurants and cafes, and the sahil where you can walk and have tea. It was a good and comfortable stay. I will miss this place and miss Dr. Soner.

Soner is a lovely, helpful and considerate host. He came to get me from the metro to bring me to his cosy home, tucked away in a side street up the hill in Üsküdar. The room is simple, but clean and quiet. The internet works perfectly, there's no seated toilet in the bathroom, so if that's a must, you might want to look elsewhere. If it's not then I'd definitely recommend Soner's place to anyone looking for a local experience on the Asian side of Istanbul.
