Welcome to Manhattan Beach! The detached guesthouse has everything you need to enjoy your stay at the beach. This house is 7 blocks from the beach and in walking distance to bars and restaurants.
FREE: WiFi, Parking spot, no cleaning fee or deposit.
*I keep the calendar up to date, so if you want to book the guesthouse, just click the INSTANT BOOK button. No need to check with me first.* Thanks!
The guesthouse is a studio with a queen bed and the sofa has a pull out queen bed. I have it listed to sleep 5 people since we have a lot of families with 3 kids. There is also a single mattress, perfect for the 3rd child. 5 adults would probably not be comfortable.
We provide in the guesthouse: hairdryer, clothes iron, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair spray, bandaids, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, saline solution, eye drops, nail clippers, shave cream, razors, facial cleanser, ear plugs, snore strips, sleep masks, international adaptors, throat lozenges, nail polish remover, sunscreen, shower cap, sewing kit...pretty much anything you forgot, we have.
We have a pack and play if you're traveling with a little one.
The refrigerator is stocked with: soda, bottled water, OJ and almond milk. The snacks includes: microwave popcorn, crackers, coffee, tea, cookies, chips and apples. Everything from toiletries to snacks are complimentary. Also, in the garage below the guesthouse there is a full size refrg/freezer if you need more room. If you need to restock your refrigerator, you can find extras in the garage refrigerator as well.
The guesthouse has thousands of tv channels including 10 HBO and 10 Cinemax channels.
We (husband and kids in elementary school) live in a seperate house on the property. When you go down the side gate, past the house, past jacuzzi and magnolia tree you arrive at the guesthouse. Walk up the stairs and you have arrived. It's quiet and more residential, but a short walk/ride to the beach.
Renting a car from the airport can be a drag with the long lines. Many of our guests have had a car delivered to the house from RELAYRIDES. It's inexpensive and convenient.
We share the backyard with the guesthouse. The guesthouse has its own little balcony with 2 lounge chairs, a small table and 2 chairs. When you walk down the stairs of the guesthouse, there's lots of fun stuff for you to do. We have an outdoor jacuzzi, a gas fire pit, a variety of skateboards, basketball hoop, rip sticks and a great big magnolia tree that you can climb to the top of.
Interaction with Guests
We are here to help you if you need anything. We understand this is your vacation and just want want you to relax and enjoy your time here.
You know how sometimes you get in a cab and the driver keeps talking to you and you're thinking, I really need to call someone or concentrate on responding to an email/ text and he's not getting it?! I'm paying for a service and just want the ride...well, we don't want to be that cab driver. Text me if you need something, if you have some questions or have something to tell me, we'll hang out in the yard and laugh. It's easy breezy.
RESTAURANTS: No matter your age, taco Tuesday at OB's Bar and Grille is a must. Get a basket of peanuts, smash them on the table, eat them and throw the shells on the ground...my kids love it there, good burgers also. We walk to OB's from our house or bike it most of the time. Across the street from OB's is Pancho's Mexican restaurant, which has karaoke in the bar on Sunday nights. Fish bar (love the blackened fish tacos) is a couple blocks North. 4 Daughters, North End, Sloopy's & Local Yolk all have a great breakfast and are all next to each other. These are all located in North Manhattan Beach. When heading to downtown Manhattan Beach driving is the best option, since you'll probably end up shopping and it's a longer walk.
SHOPPING: Trina Turk, Free People, Splendid, Sketchers, True Religion, Fresh Produce and all of the boutique stores are located on or around Manhattan Beach Blvd.
Head up Rosecrans ave, go left on Sepulveda and take your first right to find: Anthropology, BCBG, H&M, MAC, J Crew, Banana Republic, Lulu Lemon and BEBE.
GROCERY: Whole Foods, Fresh and Easy, Ralph's and Trader Joes are all close by.
We live in the tree section of Manhattan Beach. It's populated with families and is quiet.
DRIVING: A couple of California driving rules strictly enforced in Manhattan Beach:
If there is a crosswalk, slow down. If there is a person who looks like they are going to cross, stop. Let them cross. That is a big ticket if a cop sees you didn't let the pedestrian cross.
HOV (high occupancy vehicle = carpool/ 2 or more people) you cannot cross the double line to enter the carpool lane. Wait until the dotted line appears and enter. (And yes, we have received ticket(s) for that). Lastly, cell phones while driving. If you text, even at a stop light, it's a ticket. Being on your phone while driving is a ticket, although when I was pulled over, the officer told me the first time is a warning...
Cabs are prevalent and the way to go when you have been drinking. Yellow cab and southbay cab are easy to find when you're downtown Manhattan Beach. UBER is my favorite - download the app on your phone, enter your credit card and you don't have to worry about calling a cab or entering a tip. Choose uberx for the least expensive trip. Promotion code 18brf gets you $10 off your first trip.
Other Things to Note
WIFI- There is a white wifi extender box in the window near the kitchen. If it falls under the counter you won't have much of a signal. If you are having WIFI issues, make sure it's in the window.
Below the guestouse is the garage where you will find boogie boards and surfboards.
We have bicycles for kids and adults, plus helmets. You can ride straight down Rosecrans Ave and before you hit the ocean you will see the bike path. Head north and you will ride along the ocean, riding through El Segundo, Playa Del Rey, Marina Del Rey, Venice Beach and Santa Monica. If you were to head south on your bicycle from Manhattan Beach you would ride through, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and up the hill to Palos Verdes.
To access the laundry room, walk toward the main house, you'll see a door on the right side of the house, it's the laundry room. We have our own laundry upstairs in our home, so this one is just for you.
We have a half pipe with skateboards, helmets and pads, if you feel daring.
Some people think this is cool, Christopher knight (Peter Brady from the Brady bunch designed and built our house and guesthouse. He lived here for 9 years. Also, across the alley is the home THE DOORS rented when they were a new band. My neighbor said all she heard coming out of the garage was "light my fire". I love that.

We have a little white hypoallergenic dog, Stella and 2 fabulous bunnies. Their names are Shadow and Mr. Fluffington. Please don't smoke inside the guesthouse and respect our neighbors. This is a professional neighborhood, if you are entertaining in the backyard, please close it down by 10:00.
We thank you for the inquiries about : shooting movies here, showers, private parties... however living near beach means little parking and we are really not equipped to handle more than 4-5 people in the guesthouse. Thank you, Beth
Awesome house! They almost have everything you need! We all have a great time here!
Beth and family were outstanding host. Our kids had so much fun! The house itself was great, tons of amenities, tons of things to do at the house and the hot tub was wonderful! Thanks so much, until we come back, which we will. Thanks
Beth's home was perfect. With all the little extras it made it hard to leave. The neighborhood was quiet. And the location was a perfect jumping off point for all the things to do in the area.
Beth's communications were fast and made it easy for me to adjust my arrival time.
By far our best experience at an airbnb . Our guest house was charming. Fully stocked with everything u could imagine. A welcoming display of food goodies , bathroom was loaded with everything u could imagine( Jo Malone perfume my fav ) . Located in very quiet upscale neighborhood in Manhattan beach . A very short walk to
The beach ( 20 min) we will be back
This was our first Airbnb experience and we enjoyed it! The guesthouse is cozy and clean and matched the description.
The location is less than 30 min to West L.A., Santa Monica, The Getty Center and maybe a 5 min drive to the Manhattan Beach pier. There is lots of shopping and great restaurants in the area. I loved the nearby juice bar, Kreation Juice. We had take out from El Sombrero (Beth's recommendation-wet burritos, my new fave! ) on a night we wanted to stay in. We also had great food at The Rockefeller and Love & Salt.
We had no wifi for the first couple of days, but that was fixed as soon as Beth got home.
The bed is comfortable, and I loved the guest robes!
My boyfriend and I are very private people, and it did make us a little uncomfortable to walk by the main house and be able to look into it when we went in and out, but that was our issue and not because of Beth and her terrific family. They made us feel very welcome and I always felt I could go to them with any question or need.
This is a great choice if you want clean, bright accommodations, with a great host, residential but well located, and to see bunnies everyday
Wonderful place. Beth and her family made us feel very welcome. The apartment is several blocks from the beach and a mere $4 Uber ride to the centre of Manhattan Beach where there are tons of good restaurants and bars. Our favourite restaurant is called Little Sister. Highly recommended. This is really a great place for families as they have lots of skateboards and bikes and swings which I think they're totally happy to let people use. I had some online work to do in the daytime involving heavy internet upload/download and that was really the only issue for me, as the wifi here is adequate but not really fast enough for what I needed. But I think most people who come here would probably want to relax, and this is the perfect spot for that! We certainly did. Got to watch hummingbirds in the trees and flowers and walk back up the beach at night after dinner. We both slept really well and are very happy with this place. Recommended!
This was our first time using Airbnb and we couldn't have been happier. Erik and Beth were great hosts! The guest house was well decorated, clean and supplied with snacks and amenities. It was the perfect place to stay while visiting our daughter in Manhattan Beach.
