The Space

*I keep the calendar up to date, so if you want to book the guesthouse, just click the INSTANT BOOK button. No need to check with me first.* Thanks!

We provide in the guesthouse: hairdryer, clothes iron, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair spray, bandaids, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, saline solution, eye drops, nail clippers, shave cream, razors, facial cleanser, ear plugs, snore strips, sleep masks, international adaptors, throat lozenges, nail polish remover, sunscreen, shower cap, sewing kit...pretty much anything you forgot, we have.

We have a pack and play if you're traveling with a little one.

The refrigerator is stocked with: soda, bottled water, OJ and almond milk. The snacks includes: microwave popcorn, crackers, coffee, tea, cookies, chips and apples. Everything from toiletries to snacks are complimentary. Also, in the garage below the guesthouse there is a full size refrg/freezer if you need more room. If you need to restock your refrigerator, you can find extras in the garage refrigerator as well.

The guesthouse has thousands of tv channels including 10 HBO and 10 Cinemax channels.

We (husband and kids in elementary school) live in a seperate house on the property. When you go down the side gate, past the house, past jacuzzi and magnolia tree you arrive at the guesthouse. Walk up the stairs and you have arrived. It's quiet and more residential, but a short walk/ride to the beach.

Guest Access

We share the backyard with the guesthouse. The guesthouse has its own little balcony with 2 lounge chairs, a small table and 2 chairs. When you walk down the stairs of the guesthouse, there's lots of fun stuff for you to do. We have an outdoor jacuzzi, a gas fire pit, a variety of skateboards, basketball hoop, rip sticks and a great big magnolia tree that you can climb to the top of.

Interaction with Guests

We are here to help you if you need anything. We understand this is your vacation and just want want you to relax and enjoy your time here.

You know how sometimes you get in a cab and the driver keeps talking to you and you're thinking, I really need to call someone or concentrate on responding to an email/ text and he's not getting it?! I'm paying for a service and just want the ride...well, we don't want to be that cab driver. Text me if you need something, if you have some questions or have something to tell me, we'll hang out in the yard and laugh. It's easy breezy.

The Neighborhood

RESTAURANTS: No matter your age, taco Tuesday at OB's Bar and Grille is a must. Get a basket of peanuts, smash them on the table, eat them and throw the shells on the kids love it there, good burgers also. We walk to OB's from our house or bike it most of the time. Across the street from OB's is Pancho's Mexican restaurant, which has karaoke in the bar on Sunday nights. Fish bar (love the blackened fish tacos) is a couple blocks North. 4 Daughters, North End, Sloopy's & Local Yolk all have a great breakfast and are all next to each other. These are all located in North Manhattan Beach. When heading to downtown Manhattan Beach driving is the best option, since you'll probably end up shopping and it's a longer walk.

SHOPPING: Trina Turk, Free People, Splendid, Sketchers, True Religion, Fresh Produce and all of the boutique stores are located on or around Manhattan Beach Blvd.
Head up Rosecrans ave, go left on Sepulveda and take your first right to find: Anthropology, BCBG, H&M, MAC, J Crew, Banana Republic, Lulu Lemon and BEBE.

GROCERY: Whole Foods, Fresh and Easy, Ralph's and Trader Joes are all close by.

We live in the tree section of Manhattan Beach. It's populated with families and is quiet.

Getting around

DRIVING: A couple of California driving rules strictly enforced in Manhattan Beach:
If there is a crosswalk, slow down. If there is a person who looks like they are going to cross, stop. Let them cross. That is a big ticket if a cop sees you didn't let the pedestrian cross.
HOV (high occupancy vehicle = carpool/ 2 or more people) you cannot cross the double line to enter the carpool lane. Wait until the dotted line appears and enter. (And yes, we have received ticket(s) for that). Lastly, cell phones while driving. If you text, even at a stop light, it's a ticket. Being on your phone while driving is a ticket, although when I was pulled over, the officer told me the first time is a warning...
Cabs are prevalent and the way to go when you have been drinking. Yellow cab and southbay cab are easy to find when you're downtown Manhattan Beach. UBER is my favorite - download the app on your phone, enter your credit card and you don't have to worry about calling a cab or entering a tip. Choose uberx for the least expensive trip. Promotion code 18brf gets you $10 off your first trip.

Other Things to Note

Below the guestouse is the garage where you will find boogie boards and surfboards.
We have bicycles for kids and adults, plus helmets. You can ride straight down Rosecrans Ave and before you hit the ocean you will see the bike path. Head north and you will ride along the ocean, riding through El Segundo, Playa Del Rey, Marina Del Rey, Venice Beach and Santa Monica. If you were to head south on your bicycle from Manhattan Beach you would ride through, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and up the hill to Palos Verdes.

We have a half pipe with skateboards, helmets and pads, if you feel daring.

Some people think this is cool, Christopher knight (Peter Brady from the Brady bunch designed and built our house and guesthouse. He lived here for 9 years. Also, across the alley is the home THE DOORS rented when they were a new band. My neighbor said all she heard coming out of the garage was "light my fire". I love that.

  • Beth, Erik, Vivian and Alex were all very nice & graciously let us borrow their toys including surfboards, skateboards, rip sticks, and ramp! The snacks, juices and coffee were a nice touch as well. A hot tub session after a surf was the icing on the cake! Little details that made all the difference...

  • Beth is the best host!! This was our first time doing Airbnb and we could not have had a better experience!! Beth and her family are accommodating, outgoing, and genuine. The place was better than expected and the neighborhood was perfect! We walked everywhere - beach, coffee, restaurants, gym, etc. and met the nicest people along the way. We would love to stay at Beth's place again!! Thank you Beth!!

  • Beth and Eric are both awesome people, friendly, helpfull and very nice to talk with.
They are easy going, and just the kind of people its nice to be around.

Very nice and clean place, if you forgot to bring something, odds are that Beth has it in her super stocked drawers and cabinets.

    Great bed and bathroom.

The place is quite, didnt hear any traffic or other disturbing noises.

  • I can most definately recommend staying with Beth and her family. The accomodation was exactly as it was described- very clean, nicely decorated with attention to detail. My family had a very comfortable stay and would return. My children would have gladly missed the local attractions to hang out with Beth's children!! Beth and her family were more than happy to share advice on places to see and things to do.

  • Fantastic stay. Everything was as expected. Beth was a great host and very responsive. Manhattan Beach is a great place and the beach community there is one of the best.

  • We had a fabulous week stay at Beth and Eric's guesthouse. The place was perfect... quiet, comfortable, private, and fully stocked (a pleasant surprise). The location is great, just a short drive to the beach where we spent much of our time exploring the beach towns.

We look forward to returning on our next trip to the LA area....

  • We loved Beth's place! There was plenty of room for me, my wife and my parents. The neighborhood is cosy and quiet, her place had everything we needed, and it was very clean. The location was great, too; LA is pretty big, but Beth's place was in a great spot for getting to everything we wanted to see there.
I only had a brief interaction with Beth, where she was very sweet an gave me some helpful tips.
Thanks for a great stay, Beth!

  • We had a wonderful time at Beth's place and she is a very generous host. Loved being close to the beach. Her space is small but has everything you need and more!

  • We really enjoyed our stay and felt right at home. Very quiet nice neighborhood. We had good sleeps, beds were comfortable. Really enjoyed looking to see where the bunnies were everyday in the back yard. One of the days each one was sitting on a chair side by side by the fire pit. They are so friendly, cute and soft to pet. Good location! Manhattan Beach shops, restaurants, coffee shops were great and the beach was beautiful. Beth is a wonderful host. Would definitely like to stay there again and next time spend more time in the Mahattan Beach area since we were touring so many other places as well during our stay.
